The best combo for a marker is IMO ST4, Block, Dodge, Side Step (or Stand Firm), Tackle and Diving Tackle, but that's not so easy to get one player.
I'm increasingly coming to prefer Stand Firm on markers. Sidestep just seems too easily cancelled by the filling of adjacent squares.

Which sucks for me, as I like playing Elf teams

Sidestep on defense is better... you can really annoy ball carrier. But I agree a good player can fill in empty spaces and your out of the game.

Not to mention Grab.

I also prefer Stand Firm, but usually You will only have it on players with Strength skills access, which means it's hard to get them Dodge and Diving Tackle. And Stand Firm will not be Your first choice on a double for an elf-type player.

Thanks for all the advice, my next game isn't until Thurs/Fri, so I have some time to think about it still... But I am currently deciding between Dodge and Jump Up as the top contenders. Might end up being a decision on a whim, but we will see!
