| Just a heads up to anyone who is interested that there is a league where each MD lasts for approximately 2-3 weeks. I'm uber busy with real life from January and am slowly dropping out of all my current leagues, but will sign up to this one as i reckon i can handle 1 game every 2-3 weeks. Season 5 won't start until late Jan/early Feb, so there is no rush. But feel free to jump over and check it out if you are interested. They do the league via direct IP using software called Hamachi. So you have to get used to using it (haven't tried it yet myself so can't tell you what its like). I'm not sure of the skill level of the coaches or anything else, but am attracted by the relaxed schedule. Once i have a couple of trial games using Hamachi, i will let you know how i find it. | Ive done direct IP leagues at the start of Cyanide´s game, when Cyanide´s original private league application was crap and very unstable. Hamachi is a very handy little application that tends to make direct conexions easy. It simulates a local netowrok over the internet. When you do direct IP there are a couple applications out there that help you manage your team development, the one I used in my first leagues was Bloowbowldigital´s. Still quite active although the admin has not updated it in a long time. www.bloodbowldigital.com |

| Thanks for the tips Viajero. I have never done direct ip before, so really have no idea how it works. I will try and get in a couple of practice games with it to make sure i can get it working. The thing that really attracts me to this league is the ultra long MD's. As i will be so busy with real life from January, i won't be able to commit to a regular league schedule (hence why i am sitting out of OCC).

| The thing with IP is that the games are "standalone". I.e. one off matches for all purposes. So no team development is possible within Cyanide´s game. The actual development has to be managed via an external application, like the BBD one, where you upload your team file and then the match reports subsequently. The BBD application calculates the spp´s etc and manages the skill ups etc. Then prior to your next games oyu need to download your team file and use it for an IP "one off" game. Not too difficult really but it requires a completely different mindset compared to playing in Cyanides. |

| I recruited Narly to BBQL as we were discussing his scheduling difficulties during an OCC match. Several members play two divisions in parallel - hence the long match days for new members, as there's a division for new teams and one for developed teams. That structure may be expanded if recruitment efforts pay off. It's a nice little league. In terms of coach skill, while it's had a few notable coaches in its ranks these days it's perhaps a little less hardcore than the likes of OCC. I know this because I've nearly won a BBQL title. ![]() I expect a coach of Narly's ability will crush the rest of us, and look forward to being proven wrong! If anyone's thinking of signing up, we're very scattered geographically - some Brits and Europeans, some "ANZACs", an American or two and now some bloke in Japan. An advantage of the slow scheduling is it's much easier to fix up weekend games against someone on the other side of the world. We'll take anyone. EDIT: I've been asked to add a testimonial from BBQL veteran Deanup, who is having issues getting on to this forum: "This is a great chilled out league, a game every fortnight against online chums. Few more members would be cool. "See you here." Last edited by Doomy; 14th December 2011 at 11:41 PM. |

| One of the great things about using direct ip to play the match is that you aren't bound by Cyanide's rules for the team. This means that you can do some funky things that are outside the normal rules of BB. By way of example, they have awards for 1st place in each division. Division 2 allows you to pick one of the following as a prize: a) Winner can nominate any existing player to receive ONE bonus skill. This skill does not count against any potential SPP rolls (and therefore, this raises the player's potential skill-count by +1). They must roll for the skill normally, however, and it will raise the monetary value of the player - as well as the team value. b) One of your players realises that his/her whole life has been a lie. You may re-roll every existing skill they have. If they've already rolled for 5 skills, you can re-roll all five of them. You MUST re-roll all of their skills, though - you can't keep the earlier 'double-six' and only re-roll the others, for example. c) Collect +10K from each player in your division (up to a maximum of 50K, counting from the highest placing teams and down. If an opposing team has no funds in their treasury, then they are skipped. Opposing coaches may spend their cash at any time, however). BB purists will hate this kind of thing, but to me it seems like a fun change if your after something different. I'm yet to actually play a match as the new season isn't due to start until February, but it sounds like a lot of fun (if you can be bothered setting up Hamachi to do direct ip matches).

| If it wasn't for the fact I had PC issues (it must have been the PC, as it affected various program [including BBLE] and stopped me accessing various websites [including the OCC and the BBQL]) I'd still be there. When I can get my life balance worked out properly again, I'll be going back (wonder if my Raiders are still there...).
