Tonight my TT Orcs have made it into the finals of my local league. The first time I've played a full length league in ages. I'm not too thrilled with their performance, but after a good start they managed to secure fourth place and into the playoff semis. Beating the unbeaten Dwarf team I'm now into the finals against the up and coming Lizard coach. Now Lizards are a notoriously hard team for me to beat. I know my TV will be higher, maybe by a fair amout. I've also got 14 players so I was gonna go in hard with fouling, contrary to my normal play, to try and get numbers or remove key players. Question is, do I take a bribe with the exactly 100K I have in the bank, adding to his inducements, and foul with everyone? Or just field the unskilled lineman to foul with at key points? I guess there is an inducement range where the extra 100K will not make much difference.

Who would you foul? I assume you have a MB blitzer or two, and you are going to be hunting skinks. I dunno what value you'd get by giving yourself a chance to foul them unless he has some really good skinks that you think could lose you the game. And if he does, I'd probably just run the risk of a failed foul with the lineman anyhow.

Who would I foul? Not sure really, anyone who looked a juicy target. And yes I will be hunting skinks with my MB blitzer. But in my experience that is easier said than done. If you cant reach them you cant hurt them. So usually I just end up hiiting saurus. Plus the enievitability that any skink that is hit will not be hurt.

I don't think it's the best value tactical approach honestly. With you having far less movement you don't want to be crowding round one square for a Saurus. Doing that the lizards can find a hole in your defence because they have far greater MV. As lamaros points out, it's easier to give you input if we know the rosters involved. If the Sauri don't have Break Tackle it's not hard to mark them away from the action, if you have the Tackle/MB combo targetting skinks is easy. Get the skinks and you reduce their options, obviously. One thing you should definitely not do is push all your players into a ruck when defending. You need to leave a couple back in case of a break or you are asking for trouble,

my roster is from memory blitzer - dodge BO blitzter - strip ball/MB blitzer - (?) thrower - +AG/block BO Blitzter - kick lineman - wrestle/fend lineman - guard lineman BO - block BO - block/guard goblin - sprint troll I'm really unsure of his roster save for the fact it is reasonably new. Block on only a few, maybe 2, saurus, unskilled krox, and I think 5 unknown skinks. He has won a few games so I guess the skinks have taken the TDs and some will have skills. I'm pretty sure sidestep is on at least 1.

| Other thing to take into account is the TV difference - if you're already a 200TV overdog, you don't want to be spending the extra 100TV - that would give your opponent access to the Wizard. Having said that, I induced the chainsaw star against lizzies once, even though it gave him a wiz (I'd lost both my MB/Tackle Blitzers to MNGs in the semi),and just grinded the 1st half, hunting skinks with him. Worked well as I won in OT.

The main thing is that if he has no Break Tackle and no Mighty Blow it becomes quite easy to mark Sauri out of the game, and with AV9 the chances are the marker can just keep getting up again when he's hit. I would focus on that personally.

Yep, keep the Saurus marked out of the game and play "Whack-a-SkinkTM" Make sure you have at least 2 safeties for when he breaks through with his Skinks otherwise he'll outpace you. Not having Tackle anywhere makes it a bit trickier but hitting Skinks with Block guys means you still have 20/36 chance of downing them with a 2d block.

But sure, starting on offense and putting the guard bob on the los together with a couple of blitzers and linemen to down them all, and then gangfouling a saurus with the unskilled lino and five assists can be a reasonable way to start the game, bribe or no bribe. I'd probably skip on buying a bribe though. If you had been a 60k underdog I could have seen it as an option, but now you'd just be giving your opponent more rope.

this upsets me deeply. but on a tactical note, i follow the skink hunting theme. Playing a bash game against the saurus/krox is just silly thinking until you have the numerical advantage. if you REALLY have to spend that 100k, get an extra reroll to garentee the early blocks and put them on the backfoot. EDIT: or perhaps a pair of bloodwiser babes - keep all your boys on the field Last edited by Orient; 10th January 2012 at 01:14 PM.
