Wondering if there is any recommendations for mini's to use for Chaos Dwarf Centaurs? I prefer mini's that mostly fit within a single square of the board (including base) - which I think rule's out the mini of the centaur star player (Hthark). Possibly some warhammer minotaur of Satyr mini might work.?. (doesn't have to be exactly a centaur)

I have the same aversion to models that don't fit clearly into one square. Both the Wizards of the Coast Dungeons & Dragons miniature line and the really old Mage Knight minis game made several centaur models, quite a few of which are rearing up on their back two legs so as to fit on a single space. The paint job would need some touching up, and the sculpt won't be quite as high of quality of the rest of the team. But if you don't mind that, most of the above pieces can still be found here and there online for less than a buck each, which is unbeatable. I've also toyed with ordering bits to take a Warhammer plastic horse that's rearing up on two legs and using green stuff to attach a dwarf's torso to the where the horse's head would go (this would have been my back-up plan but I was more than happy with the D&D minis I found for $0.89 each).

I use the old GW fantasy centaurs, they are small enough to be on a big guy base (40mm)

You could mount a Centaur on a 40mm or even 30mm base and it'll fit a bit better than a cavalry base.
