Welcome to the match between Gaul'thog Rampagers and Runty Gitz. Gitz win the toss and choose to receive.

Gitz set up with a Fanatic flanked by Trolls with Looney behind and all the rest spread out behind. Rampagers use a fairly standard spread defence.

The game starts with a high kick allowing a gobbo to catch the ball. The Fanatic whirls about aimlessly before the Trolls Stonepuke and Earguff manage to Badly Hurt and push Beastmen respectively. The Looney KO's the other LOS Beastman before the gobbos cage up midfield.

Looney gets Stunned by a CW and the loose Gitz players are marked up.

Fanatic pushes the downed Looney to safety and Stonepuke gets downed attempting to block a Beastman.
Rampagers block & blitz their way into marking all Gitz players with a CW marking the ball carrier only downing 2 gobbos before a CW is downed by a gobbo.

Stonepuke obviously took a blow to the head as he stays down drooling. The Fanatic downs the CW marking the ball carrier and the Looney stuns a marking Beastman with a blitz. This freed up enough gobbos to start creating a cage near the left sideline. A gobbo failing a dodge and KOing himself brings this to a halt while only half completed.

Rampagers down Earguff freeing up a couple of Beastmen to blitz round the incomplete cage taking down the ball carrier with a both down.

Earguff stands up to mark 3 players before a both down in the brawl to get the ball ends the turn.

The brawl for the ball heats up with A CW ending up guarding the ball and being one of 5 players surrounding Earguff. 2 Beastmen head into the Gitz backfield ready for the ball to be retrieved.

Stonepuke finally shakes off the blow to head and stands up before the Fanatic pushes a Gobbo out of the way so he can badly hurt a Beastman. This leaves the Earguffs markers marked themselves so he pushes the CW away from the ball. Some downed Gobbos stand up and a blitz puts a Beastman in the crowd who KO him. The Gitz recover the ball and set up a sideline cage before stunning a Beastman with a foul and sending someone to babysit/hide behind Stonepuke.

A CW blitz on the cage just gets a push. Beastman dodges to mark Earguff and a CW blocks a Gobbo in an attempt to get extra assists on Earguff but it ends badly with just the CW hitting the floor.

Stonepuke blitzes a CW away from Earguff before the Fanatic pushes Stonepuke, downs a Beastman and stuns a CW. This leaves Stonepuke able to assist against the CW marking the ballcarrier who is downed. This leaves the Beastman in the Gitz backfield the only Rampagers player still on his feet. The Gitz form another sideline cage further into Rampagers territory and a score looks inevitable.

The drive ends with the Rampagers standing up only to have 2 CWs downed and a Beastman KO'd. A gobbo gets sent off for fouling and the Rampagers have another ineffectual round of blocking before the Gitz run in the TD. 1-0 Gitz.

A riot ends the half.

Start of the second half sees Rampagers fielding 9 players to the 11 of Gitz.

A rock hurled from the crowd stuns a LOS Beastman. Despite this the Rampagers are able to set up a CW cage around a Beastman ball carrier. Then a LOS Beastman goes down trying to block a Gobbo.

Once again Stonepuke fails to do anything but drool however Earguff manages to push away one of the cage corners but doesn't follow up. The loose Gobbos gang up on the last standing LOS Beastman badly hurting him before stunning another with a foul.

A Rampagers Beastman stands up on LOS before a lone Beastman goes deep and the cage moves up the right sideline.

The Beastman on LOS gets pushed around a bit before Stonepuke finally does what he's told and knocks a corner of the cage over and marking the ball carrier. 2 gobbos drop back to mark the potential receiver and the rest form up to slow the cage.

A CW downs Stonepuke with a blitz and the cage advances into contct with the Gobbos.

Earguff blitzes the cage and again knocks a CW down and marks the ball carrier. A lone Beastman is ganged up on but escapes with just a push before the gobbos form up in front of the cage again. One of the Gobbos marking the Beastman downfield knocks him down but gets badly hurt in the process.

The downfield Beastman stands up and the other loose Beastman moves downfield as well providing a second receiving option. Earguff gets marked by multiple players, a gobbo gets pushed back by a blitz and the ball carrier dodges away to safety between 3 Cws and the sideline.

Several Gobbos run round to distract the players marking Earguff, a Gobbo dodges in next to the ball carrier, another one runs to give instructions to Earguff who blocks a Beastman, stunning him and sending him reeling into the ball carrier who with nowhere else to go ends up in the crowd. It was obviously a section of Gitz fans as the ball gets thrown in to a lone Gobbo on halfway who sprints for the endzone, stunning himself with his second unneccessary GFI.

At this point the Rampagers forget about the ball and just get on with the game. Unfortunately their blocking leaves much to be desired with a Beastman stunning himself while knocking over a Gobbo.

The game degenerates into a brawl. With the Gitz having a substantial numerical advantage they continue to win the war of attrition managing another KO and another crowd surf and a gang manage to knock a CW down before stunning him with a foul. In retaliation the Rampagers manage to down only 2 Gobbo's and have to leave most players on the deck to avoid ending up in the crowd.

Meanwhile the stunned Gobbo recovers the ball and strolls into the endzone to end the match. 2-0 Gitz

Lets look at the statistics.
Rampagers managed 1 KO, 1 Cas and 16 yards running.
Gitz managed 3 KO, 3 Cas, 70 yards running and 2 TDs. Stonepuke spends exactly half the match Stupid and another 3 turns only able to stand up after extended lies down.

Nuffle obviously smiled on me in my first competitive game in about 20 years. I probably made more mistakes, but got away with all of mine and succeeded in every big play I made.

Raven on the other hand couldn't catch a break. I can remember at least 4 times we had a CW – Gobbo confrontation end with the CW coming off worse and only once did a Gobbo come off worse. There is no way Raven can get such bad blocking dice again so the rest of you should watch out. He should also get a refund from whoever supplied his armour

Nice report. I love a gobbo win (unless its against me). against new teams Chaos are a good draw for gobbos and you seem to have made the most of it.

Chaos will take a few games to get rolling, next season they will be a serious handful.

Loved the read.

Granite Smashers vs Batten Down the Hatches.

GS win the coin toss and choose to kick. Both teams set up balanced formations. The game starts with a bang when a blitz leaves everyone marked up bar BDHs 2 deep men.

BDH start. A 2 dice block on the left leaves a BDH blitzer free to run into the backfield ready for the catch. The ball is picked up and thrower Vic makes to the left well screened. The turn ends disaterously for BDH when the ogre rolls both down/attacker down and loner stops the reroll.

The blitz action and the early end of turn has left GS able to crowd surf a blitzer with a slayer, Holgar, resulting in a KO. A one dice blitz KOs BDHs deep blitzer taking away the obvious receiving option. 2 GFIs leave BDHs thrower Vic hemmed in.

A blitz by lineman Johnny pushes Holgar into the crowd stunned thanks to thick skull, although a reroll is burned. Johnny is free on the right as all the action has been drawn to Vic on the left. BDH are struggling to protect vic with their numbers down. GS respond, they Blitz Vic leaving the ball against the sideline next to a BDH blitzer and a lineman goes off badly hurt due to a 1 dice block on the line.

Vic gets up and picks up the ball. After marking up anyone who could try to intercept, thrower Vic launches the ball across field to Johnny who is wide open. Even if the pass goes wide, chances are it will be safe from stumpy dwarf legs.

It's a fumble, landing right next to a dwarf runner. He makes up field with a loose screen. Thrower Vic is pushed off field and KO'd. Any effort to reposition by BDH is ended first block when Ogre the prof gets a double both down, loner ending the turn.

GS form a cage near the end zone and stall. Each BDH turn ended early. First the Prof refuses to get up with bone head as a line man scores a double attacker down. A failed dodge ends the next turn. The turn after a lineman goes off with a smashed ankle failing a dodge. Things are out of reach for BDH, they only have 3 active players. GS KO another then score on the last turn

1-0 Halftime

Second half and things seem stacked against BDH. They are kicking and are out numbered 11 - 7 with only 2 blitzers. 3 on the line, 2 on each wing. The kick goes deep and is recovered by the runner. BDH start the second half in a similar way to the first with the Prof going bonehead.

The half is taken up with a slow drive up field. Despite tackling the ball carrier 3 times the ball bounced away from BDH players or directly into dwarven hands each time. Despite the Prof smashing a slayer turn in turn out, he just cant get him off field.

With 2 turns left to score Blitzer Thorin makes 2 GFIs to get into scoring distance. BDH are outnumbered 11-6, following another badly hurt. BDH still amange to mark him 1 on 1, Blitzer Murdok Breaking a runners jaw to get next to Thorin. Thorin can either blitz 1 on 1 and sprint to the endzone, any nearby dwarves are tied up, or dodge away and make 2 GFIs...

Thorin, with elf like agility dodges away and GFI twice to get into the endzone.

2 - 0 Smashers.

With only 1 turn left BDH stack the line and knock it down but cant break armour, blitzing a runner gets no better luck. A failed pick up, despite an assist, by thrower Vic as the final whistle blows sums up BDHs match.

Thanks for the match Murk. I'm ready to bin this team at the moment, I've not managed a single pass completion in 2 games and only got 2 ssp for the whole of match 2. It's been very frustrating. You find out who's a real coach when things are going wrong though, I'm not about to quit. To the end.

Interesting stat of the game: Granite smashers scored only a single "1" in 25 single dice rolls. Scary.

What can I say, for some reason Dwarf teams like me.

In all seriousness though, I'm sorry how that game turned out Coachman. As early as mid-first half the luck had just thrown the game in my favor. I don't even know if I could claim that as a win on my part.

You fought well with what the game gave you and I hope things turn around for you.

That was me last season and I was running with Elves!
But I stuck with it and they came good towards the end, and I only missed a chance to compete for the league title due to a disconnect.

p.s. I assume you are getting your stats from BB Manager? How does that work I downloaded it but never got around to figuring it out.

As soon as you log out of your game fire up BBmanager. On the top left there is a "submit match" option. Click that, it will ask you the league, coaches etc so fill that in.

You can look it up from your logged matches then view the stats for the game. It gives a log of events (only those involving dice rolls though), a breakdown of dice results and probabilities. In OCC its used for stats, we are expected to submit each league match.

I'm sure Batten Down the hatches will bounce back. I'm at the point where one half decent game will could add about 4 skills to my team.

[EDIT] You are very gracious Murk but you earn every win in BB, you take what you're given and run with it.

Well, after port forwarding issues rained off the debut of 'Slug Emz' (against the verminators) to the second week against Raven's chaos, I was looking forward to getting a game.

Unfortunately Slug Emz did not exactly cover themselves in glory...

Gaulthrag's (SP?) Maurauders lined up for the opening kickoff in a heavy on side of the pitch formation. A HA! I thought, I'll kick the ball short to the other side in an onside kick type effort.

I started with all the luck in the world, as a blitz result was rolled on the kickoff table, which would have easily allowed me to recover my own kick like a poncey elf team...That is, if the orcs had ACTUALLY MANAGED TO GET THE BALL OVER THE LINE.

Needless to say, they didn't, and the ensuing touchback, and some poor positioning of my players led to a quick score by Raven.

A tough return drive by the orcs stalled near the halfway point of the chaos half, leaving the game 1-0 to Gaulthrags maurauders. The orcs were looking battered at this point, with a few players off the pitch.

The second half, the orcs recovered the kickoff, and formed into a pocket near the right sideline. This ended up shifting back into the centre rather rapidly, as the Chaos players closed in.

The orcs were outnumbered though, and a valient breakaway effort failed as a journeyman lineman couldn't make his go for it roll to cover the ball carrier. A few failed last ditch blitzes on the beastman who had stripped the ball from the orcs took the game to 2-0 to the Maurauders.

As the orcs attempted to milk some spp by a cheeky throw in thoer own half, a beastman came on the blitz in the final turn of the game, breaking a blizer's neck. Another blitzer had been put out in the first half with a niggling injury, and to really top it all, the MVP went to the (USELESS) journeyman lineorc who then swaggered away, as Slug Emz lacked the funds to retain his services.

Result: 2 bad injuries to the blitzers doesn't bode well for the team in the long run, and a massive total of 1 SPP gained indicates that Slug 'Emz progress will be slow, as they likely languish towards the bottom of the table.

All praise deserved by Raven, who played a good game, and took advantage of my mistakes, whilst hammering my team into the ground.

Played an interesting game against Web Cole's Skaven.

It very almost didn't happen as we were getting port errors to start with.
But with a little giggardy-pokery he managed to sort himself out and we got the game going.

It is the Verminat0rs Vs the Ironjaw Chieftainz.

I used to play Skaven alot so I know how soft they are, hence me going for a robust team in this league.
This game pretty much demontrates this in kind as well.

I will be getting 3 Journeymen to replace the Dead Goblin and two injured Lineorcs on my roster.
This means I have a TV of 1010 Vs the Rats 1000, as they failed to play their last game.
But even with extended inducements there is nothing to buy for 10k.

1st half:
The Orcs are receiving, as Tails never fails evidentally.
Both teams set up fairly even formations, and the kick off is a High Kick, but as the Kick was about to land on a Blitzer it was meaningless.

The Orcs, throw a few tackle zones on the ball and then go Gutter Runner hunting, with Blitzer Galth KOing Nimble in the first blitz of the game.
The Orc Thrower, Gramnast, picks up the ball and sits in a cage slightly left of centre about three spaces from the LOS.

The Rats form a 2 deep wall across the pitch, as well as managing three Ag3 dodges to ensure that there are no Rats available to be blocked next turn!

The cage advances to the right side of the pitch (entering into the opposition half) and the orcs try to get stuck into the Rats by moving into contact almost everywhere.
Being a man up though they can afford to send a blitzer to the back lest a Gutter Runner makes a break.

In the Skaven turn, they move their line to infront of the cage. The first block of the turn results in a 2x Attacker Down, but is successfully rerolled. This is followed by a failed dodge by the Ag3 Thrower as he moved through a tackle zone.

Badhag, the Orc Blitzer decides to try breaking open the left flank by blitzing a linerat and smashes his ankle (-1 Mv). He then advances forward to within scoring distance of the line should he receive the ball.
The cage weaves left again; only advancing a single square forward but it will be difficult for the skaven to stop the cage with almost no players on the left half of the pitch.

The Stormvermin Rholand, assisted by the GR Jet, does manage to knock Badhag down though, which opens up a route for the skaven to wall up infront of the cage yet again.
The turn comes to an early end when the SV, Vlad, rolls Attacker down in a 1D block against a Lineorc (a reroll already having been used in a GFI earlier in the turn).

Galth manages to KO his second Gutter Runner to open up a hole in the middle of the Rats line, though the cage is still only 3 squares inside the Skaven half after 4 turns!
The Vermin manage to recover well and manage to close the hole in their lines, helped by lots more Ag3 dodging! After about 8 dodges there has only been one fail!

The Orcs do manage to advance up the left flank again though by blitzing Rholand out of the way and move a whole 3 spaces closer to the end zone, only 7 more to go!

The skaven continue to scurry back to cover all the avenues of advancement and Rholand manages to blitz his way next to the ball carrier but is quickly shoved out again.
The cage swings back into the middle of the field and is now 6 spaces away with 2 turns left. Waldo, the Skaven thrower tries to shove Badhag away from him but ends up with his head kicked off as a 2x Attacker Down comes up with no reroll available. The Apoth manages to tape his head back on but he will suffer a permanent -1 Ag (retirement beckons for Waldo methinks).

This leaves a huge hole in the middle of the defence which sees the ball carrier advance to within 1 space of the end zone, not wanting to chance a GFI. Next turn a desperate Gutter Runner, Fleet, attempts to dodge into the cage but fails. The Orc Thrower Gramnast walks the ball in and then they set up for 1 turn of pain before the end of the half.

The kick off results in a Blitz! which doesn't amount to much as most of the Orcs are very deep in their own half out of blitzing range. Though Jet (GR) does throw a successful pass to earn the Verminat0rs first SPPs

Second Half:
Time for some Verminous Vengence. Though only one of the two KO'd Gutter Runners gets back up, so the rats are left with 8 players.

The kick off to the Skaven is again a Blitz! which totally screws over the rats. The ball is too far away for the Orcs to challenge of it but it does mean that most of the skaven team is marked up and not free to move as they would like to. And there are two Orc Blitzers ready to attack anyone who does go back for the ball.

Nimble, freshly back on his feet after missing the first half the match, retrieves the ball and stands on his own endzone, the only place on the entire pitch that can't be blitzed by an Orc Blitzer next turn.
In addition a number of 1D blocks allows the GR Fleet to slip into the Orc half ready to receive next turn.
He is swiftly taken out by Badhag though who had stayed deep for just this reason. And Riknast runs 8 spaces to put a tackle zone on Nimble, pinning him to the edge of the pitch.
He tries to dodge out but is tripped when a snakes eyes comes up on the dice.

After a few blocks, Riknast picks up the ball and runs it in for a TD. 2-0 on Turn 10.

Zippo (the remaining KO'd Gutter Runner is still sleeping it off), so the Skaven set up and try to go for it again with 8 players.
There is still plenty of time for the Skaven to equalise or even win this game so not all is lost.

The kickoff is a Get the Ref and the ball sails long to rest on the Skaven end zone; and quickly retrieved by Nimble again.
The rats have set up heavily on the left and manage to break forward with a SV, 2 Gutter Runners and a Linerat. Plenty of options for receivers there.

The orcs try to mark everyone one up, doubly so for the Gutter Runners. With all the receiving options covered, the Verminators decided to go for it anyway and attempt a long pass to Fleet who is marked by Gorfang Bruis'Smasha the BO who received an MVP in the last game. He reaches high into the sky and plucks the ball from the air. INTERCEPTION!
With these 2SPPs he levels up and gains Block after the match.

Luckily the BO has been eating all his shrooms, so he remembers to makes a start for the Skaven end zone. With another GR badly hurt the Rats are very badly outnumbered in all areas of the pitch.
The rats do a sterling job of breaking off their markers and swarming the hapless Black Orc, who gets taken out and leaves the ball in the hands of Mangy the linerat.
Unfortunately for Mangy he can't hand off the ball after his Blitz and quickly gets KO'd for his impertinence, though Gorfang revenge is short-lived as he is down as well due to the Both Down result.

It was a turnover though, so Nimble manages to 1D blitz Gramnast off the ball and allowing Fleet to make a break for the line after grabbing the ball.
Badhag is the only one available to blitz the gutter runner even having to make a dodge as he had been marked by the linerat Bitey.
But not only does he successfully dodge, he takes down the GR and makes his GFI to pick up the ball!

The Skaven try to recover but can only push the Blitzer around, but he is marked twice which should be tough to get away from. A failed dodge sees Nimble get KO'd.
With a handy chain push Badhag is set loose with one blitz. It is turn 15 with the full length of the pitch to cover, but thankfully the thrower, Gramnast, is nearby and with a handoff can move the ball up to the halfway line and throws to Riknast who had been goalhanging since the start of the drive. His run falls short of the line as he don't wanna risk a GFI with no rerolls. Next turn he runs the ball in for a score 3-0 on turn 16.
With two TDs, he levels up and gets Strip Ball.

Thanks for the game Cole.
Your luck wasn't great, and losing your Thrower is harsh.

Nice write up Thanatos

Yeah, seemed like it never quite came together for me, although there was some good banter, so I had fun
