Web is welcome to put up his own report of our match if he likes I'll just do a minor recap thing: The first half was fairly uneventful. The Skaven win the coin flip and choose to kick. The Dwarves largely fail to harm the Skaven much the first half and don't manage to push the ball through the Skaven lines. The one interesting event was when the Skaven break down the cage and manage to get 3 men in base contact to the Runner. A blitz from a Troll Slayer on the other side of the line manages to knock down one of the skaven and push the carrier out of contact with the other two. This leads to a repositioning but ends up a futile gesture. Eventually the Skaven knock the ball lose and a Gutter Runner picks it up with one turn to go. However due to a minor mistake in positioning none of the Skaven are within scoring range and so the half ends. The second half goes much the same except with some Dwarf chasing Gutter Runner action. Eventually left with no other option the Gutter Runner tries to make a break through the general melee going on but has the ball knocked lose. A tense fight centers on the ball. Unfortunately for the Dwarves in the scuffle the ball is knocked out of multiple dwarf tackle zones and into the open. A Gutter Runner picks it up and runs well out of Dwarven range. With no hope of getting the ball back or scoring the Dwarves spend the remaining turns knocking Skaven down. The Runner eventually decides to score and after a few more swipes at each other the game ends. Last edited by Murkglow; 22nd September 2010 at 10:28 AM.

That was a very foolish error, I wasn't thinking too clearly, something along the lines of "0mgz0rz I got teh BALL! Yus!". ![]() Normally I play ultra defensive and don't even try and hit anyone, so I was experimenting with a 'scrappier' defense. It seemed to go quite well, although I imagine it would fall apart rather quickly should I have sustained more causalities. My offense was poor, all in all, and I was rather lucky to get the ball clear in the end. Really need to work on my offense. Back up to 4 Gutter Runners for next game, and my new Thrower 'Wally' shall also be joining us

Well last nights game with coachmans humans was an absolute disaster for me. With 240k in inducements to play with I went for a fanatic(to replace the one lost last game), a bribe, and potion of agility. The potion was a dud and I found out at half time that cyanide doesn't allow bribes to be used to keep secret weapons on the pitch . If I'd known that I would have spent 30k and induced Ripper, which I nearly did anyway. The first half was an absolute disaster despite me winning the toss and receiving to try and get maximum damage from my weapons. That didn't happen. Turn one sees my Fanatic down the Ogre and my Looney stun a Lineman. After forming a cage and protecting it as well as I could I had 2 gobbos left with a choice between protecting my Looney or doing a 4 strong gang foul on the Ogre, I chose the foul and failed to break his armour, which left the Looney vulnerable to a blitz which KO'd him. The fanatic and Ogre spent most of the half tying each other up out of the action. By the end of the half I had 2 Trolls, 2 gobbos and the fanatic on the pitch, all bar the fanatic lying down. In return I had managed 1 KO on a lineman who recovered at half time. And the humans walked in a TD on turn 8. The second half was slightly better in that I kept more gobbos on the pitch but conceded another 2 TDs. The first was a 2 turner straight from kickoff. It was a nice cage down the human left leaving me with not enough available players to successfully cover both possible receivers and stall the cage. I chose to stall the cage and try and force an intercept chance. Coachman managed to find a route to pass the ball without giving me a chance of the intercept which led to a perfect pass, catch, TD. The other one came from an attempted heromove on my part, it went handoff to a gobbo in 2 TZs on the right touchline, followed by 4 attempted dodges, the first 2 of which had Dodge negated by Tackle, needless to say he failed the second dodge, having only made the first one with a reroll, the ball bounced out of bounds and ended up on the other side of the pitch near enough for the Thrower to pick it up and a couple of mates to help protect him. The highlight of the half for me had to be the successful hit with a thrown goblin onto one of the Throwers friends, which left an opening for a last ditch 2d against block on the Thrower, which needless to say failed, allowing the Thrower to loft another perfect pass into the arms of his Catcher for the 3rd TD. Having said all that coachman was an absolute gent and even went so far as to leave me an opening, and try to kick a touchback, on turn 16 to allow an attempt at a 1 turner consolation TD courtesy of Troll Air. The kick managed to land infield despite coachmans best efforts but luckily it was a high kick which allowed me to make the catch and attempt a hand off to the foolhardy volunteer. Apparently he wasn't as foolhardy as first thought as he appeared to drop the ball on purpose .All in all the game was very enjoyable, despite the absolute tonking I took, and Nuffles obvious dislike. The star players in the game had to be the 2 Blitzers with Tackle. Absolutely every critical dodge I had to make was through at least one TZ of someone with Tackle. Between them they also removed getting on close to double figures worth of gobbos from the pitch. The only surprise is that I ended up with only 2 casualties, one of which was caused by my Troll eating him.

The TV difference and the amount of tackle and block on my team made it a tough match. Cyanide only let you bribe the ref for weapons if they are on field at the end of the drive/half. Unfortunately they had both been KO'd by turn 8. It was a fun night and you were a gent and a scholar throughout. I know what its like when gobbos implode, I hade 3 matches of it in the crunch cup before I went humans. Best of luck with your remaining games.

Well I did say before the league started that I was picking gobbos because they were the most fun to lose with and that is still the case. At least with gobbos i don't go into the match thinking I should win. All the other races I would probably get very frustrated if things went that far wrong. To be honest I'd missed the fact that the Fanatic had been KO'd as well . Hence the frustration with Cyanide. In retrospect I still think that Ripper might have been a better choice for the inducements even if I'd kept the Fanatic on the pitch. And I'm expecting to need huge luck in my next game as it's against Dwarfs .

Well it was a hard fought win for my chaos team (1-0). Going into the match, I knew that I was going to be severely tested in the strength department and would be seriously deficient in the block skill. So I had to take advantage of their glaringly obvious weakness i.e., their lack of pace. The dwarfs won the toss and elected to kick to my chaos team, which I was a little surprised at. I assume the dwarves were counting on removing enough of my players for an easy drive in the second half. I thought this was a little strange, as it would make it extremely difficult for them to score twice for a win assuming I scored on my drive. I set up my team with a severe bias to one side, setting my chaos players up in a cage on the extreme right. This also was an integral part of my plan, which I will elude to later. Because of the troll slayers frenzy skill I also left a few spaces between the cage and the crowd. Well the ball went out of play on the kick off, so one of my beast men were given the ball and he promptly ran into the middle of the cage. The cage moved over the half way line toe to toe with some dwarves covering the wings. This was a little risky but I had to start moving the cage forward and with str 4 players I felt it could take some pressure. There was a little bit of pushing/shoving in the LOS and on the left wing, but nothing major. The dwarves then had their go and they knocked my players around a lot, one caged Chaos warrior got knocked down and the other pushed back leaving a couple of dwarves in contact with the ball handler. I was a little concerned, but needed a couple more turns to get ready for the TD. So next turn I blitzed with the downed Chaos Warrior which gets him up and pushes the dwarf back away from my beastman with the ball and then the other Chaos Warrior just pushes himself back to where he was before. The cage is now back to it’s original shape and another turn goes by. Not sure whether the Dwarves start to get frustrated but they now start to try and move their players towards my cage. This was an integral part of my plan, my cage takes another bashing, but true to form the CW’s just get back up again and reform the cage. At this point, I’ve got two beastmen on the far side free, so it’s time to spring the trap. The beastman in the cage steps back runs down the line to the left leaving the majority of the dwarves on the right and does a quick pass to one of the open beast men, who then with a couple of GFI’s runs deep into the dwarf half, the other free beast man runs with him for company. I clicked on the various dwarves to see how far they could run and only one for them could reach my guy and he’d have to use 2 GFI to get there. As for the rest of the half it just turned into a brawl, the dwarves never tried to force me to score so I just sat there and waited for the clock to run down, until turn 7 in which I moved my ball hugging beastman over the line. First half ended 1-0 but to my detriment I lost 2 players through injury, still with 12 men it meant I started the next half with 10 men. So the second half kicks off and the dwarves line up against my chaos, one runner stays deep to receive and the rest line up pretty much on the half way line. From what I remember the whole half was pretty much a large brawl, which I lost a further 3 players. The dwarves failed to cage up adequately, I think maybe bloodlust got the better of them and one of my beast men managed to knock down their ball carrier, it goes loose and after a couple of turns one of my beast men manages to get his hands on it and runs for the endzone, he never quite managed to put enough daylight between himself and the dwarves. Still I wasn’t too concerned as it meant the ball was deep in the dwarf half and would take the dwarves at least two turns to recover the ball and get it down the field. With my beast man still lurking, the dwarves would still have trouble picking the ball. So the game pretty much fizzled out from there on. *This report was done from memory and I have slept since then, so may not be as accurate as I remember.* So what went right and what went wrong? Well I lost way to many players through out the match, two missing the next game. During the second half I seriously thought that the dwarves would score, as it happened they didn’t cage early enough which always left them on the defensive when the dwarves should be concentrating on attacking and grinding forward. In fact during the second half I don’t think they ever made it into my half. My tactic to score worked, I went for a two-pronged attack, setting up deep on the right encouraged my opponent to come across and swamp my cage. This left me beast men open for a good run into the opposite half. I find that just because my beast men only have AG3 that people thing they can’t throw the ball, with a re roll there is always a good chance it will get to it’s mark at short distances. I always try to keep a couple of safties deep to counter this tactic. I was quite happy that the dwarves never sent any dwarves around the back of my line/cage as this would have stopped my beast man running down the line to make the pass. Still if the dwarves had covered the receivers and ran down behind my line, I would have had more people left to try and move the cage forward, so like I said I had two options on my offence. All in all it was a good game and did keep me on the edge of my seat, and I felt for the dwarves at times. Still I had a plan going into the game and stuck to it and gladly it paid off. I’ve just signed up a badass brute of a Minotaur, so bring on the wood elves!!! That Wardancer is going down!!! (Hopefully)

Summery report for the game Murkglow vs jrpeart (Dwarves vs Goblins). Goblins win the toss and choose to kick. The first half of the game was a mixed bag for both teams. For the Dwarves injuries were quick and painful. By turn 4 both Troll Slayers had been Badly Hurt (one by a foul involving a chainsaw! and the other by Troll mauling). For the Goblins the inability to stop the Dwarves slow grinding advance eventually led to a touchdown late in the half. The Goblins try for a quick score via goblin throwing but the Troll's great hunger nips that in the bud (luckly the goblin manages not to get eaten! Though he is knocked out in the process). With the ball loose the Dwarves swarm in to surround the Goblin forces and the half ends. Halftime. Dwarves 1, Goblins 0 The second half begins with a rush on the Goblin receiver by the Dwarven team. A wall is formed between the reciever and his two guards and the rest of the Goblin team (no more goblin throwing for you!). Seeing this the Goblins make a break for the right sidelines to use their greater speed to their advantage. The Dwarven runners and a key blocker give chase and manage to pin the goblin to the sideline with no support. Things are looking good for the Dwarves but the Goblins would not give up! Slippery as an eel the goblin dodges twice out of the Blocker's tackle zones and makes two GFIs to snatch a touchdown to tie the game! With only 3 turns left the Dwarves are in a pickle. The Goblin team due to being sent off the field, KOs, and an Injury are low on players and no threat to the Dwarves advance but time is short. A good kick for the Dwarves puts the ball fairly close to the LOS and even better a High Kick means the Dwarven runner is there to catch it. With this good fortune giving them the initiative the Dwarves charge up the field. Quickly the Goblins are tied up and the runners surge up the left sideline. The Goblins do what they can to halt the advance (including throwing a goblin at the problem, who dies on impact and is revived by the Apoth) but they just can't get men past the Dwarven contain. On the last turn the Dwarves score. Final Score. Dwarves 2, Goblins 1.
