Hi All,

I've been following this website for a while now (great work Coach) and decided to take the plunge and register. I used to play Blood Bowl way back when (LRB3), but 4 years ago moved to Japan where there are a total of 3 Blood Bowl players in the country (out of a population of approx. 128 million). Thankfully Cyanide released Blood Bowl last year and I've been able to pick it up again.

I used to play Warhammer and a bit of 40K, but now exclusively play Blood Bowl. I made the switch mainly due to Warhamme and 40K taking too much time to play a game (half a day if your lucky). I've also got my own little snottling (otherwise known as a son) who demands attention all the time.

Keep an eye out for me on the Cyanide version and say hello.

Narly Bird.

Hi Narly, welcome to the forum.

I believe there is a player based in Japan playing on www.stunyleeg.com which also has all 24 races available to play online if you want to try some of the others.

Or, If you don't mind shifting back to LRB4, then there is the Southern Wastes League on FUMBBL.

Also, the development of a new LRB6 client for FUMBBL is moving at a considerable rate of knots, and it's always pretty simple to get a game on FUMBBL, at any time of day.

While the new client looks good, I wouldn't bother with fumbbl until it is released personally.

Hi there Narly Bird,

I personally find the board game much more entertaining than the Cyanide version. Maybe it's because you get to look at the face of the opponent when you pull a lucky/amazing/wathever trick, maybe it's just because I am too fond of my teams and the memories attached to them, I don't really know. However, I do know that it is possible to draw people into the game. It is hard work and it does take some time, but it is worth the effort. If you think it is hard to start it up in Japan, just think that I was able to start it up in Bolivia (Japan 128 million vs. Bolivia roughly 10 million... I think you have more than ten times more chances to be successful). Just a thought.

Gio

I must admit that setting up a league in Bolivia does sound a lot harder than setting one up in Japan. Over here, I’d just have to get a cute girl in a maid outfit and some type of probing tentacle monster and the game would sell itself! But seriously, the main hurdle is that the rules aren’t in Japanese (at least to my knowledge). There’s actually not that many Japanese that have high English language ability. Although there has to be a few English expats in Japan that are into it…

Whilst it’s a lot less personal, I find the Cyanide game really convenient to play anytime you want. There are some bugs, but they are pretty minor in my opinion. I’m looking forward to when they release all the teams later this year.

So far my attempts to get other players in the tabletop game have failed miserably. My wife flatly refuses to play and my 1 year-old son likes to eat the pieces. Also, I refuse to play him anymore after he beat me 3-0!

I feel your pain, same thing happened to me when I played against my 6 year old!
Don't give up on the table top, just be patient and time will be on your side. In the meantime, good luck with Cyanide and keep the Blood'a rollin'.

Playing any of the computer versions, while not the same as playing any game in the same room as somebody, is fine if the other person's chatty. In terms of getting responses to preposterous plays, I mean.

Actually, I’ve recently started a Chaos Team on Cyanide and hopefully my Mino will get a skill soon. I’m thinking guard first though and then tentacles. Perhaps the witch elf could fill in for the cute girl in the maid outfit…?

Japan is 8 hours ahead of UK. I’m normally on Cyanide at night around 10pm/11pm, which is around midday UK time. So I guess that would restrict it to weekends (unless you are free to play on weekdays). I know the Raven73 was talking about forming a league on Cyanide, so maybe you could join that?
