| Hey sports fans.. Its been a while since ive posted but im in need of all of your help. Some of you will remember my team the Morgred Longbeards ( yes i know not very original ) the team currently looks like this: 1. Chaos Dwarf 3 3 2 9 Block, Tackle, TS, Guard, MB, -1MA 2. Chaos Dwarf 4 3 2 9 Block, Tackle, TS, Claw, MB 3. Chaos Dwarf 3 4 2 9 Block, Tackle, TS, Guard, +1ST, -1MA 4. Chaos Dwarf 4 3 2 9 Block, Tackle, TS, Guard, MB 5. Chaos Dwarf 4 3 2 9 Block, Tackle, TS, Guard, MB 6. Chaos Dwarf 4 3 2 9 Block, Tackle, TS, Guard, MB 7. Minotaur 5 5 2 8 Loner, Frenzy, Horns, MB, WA, Juggernaut 8. Bull Centaur 6 4 2 9 Sprint, SF, Block, BT, SB, SH 9. Bull Centaur 6 5 2 9 Sprint, SF, Block, BT, +1ST, Frenzy 10. Hobgoblin 7 3 3 7 Wrestle, +1MA 11. Hobgoblin 7 3 3 7 Wrestle, Dodge, +1MA, SH 12. Hobgoblin 6 3 3 7 13. Hobgoblin 6 3 3 7 4RR 10FF Apoth TV : 1990 The most recent game was against a TV 1500 Wood elf team and i lost 3-2!! I cant seem to compete with these elves. I recieved and ground out the first half 1-0 and left him with an empty KO box and only able to field 7 players. ( 1 the treeman) 6 elves scored 3 TD's to my 1 in the second half. Admittedly he kicked 2 amazing Kicks enabling him to recover the ball but i honestly dont think i could have played it any better. How can i improve?? How do u stop the elf 2 turn TD?? When the 2-1 grind fails is there any hope of winning against these prancing soft cocks? Help a frustrated coach with any tips cos im at my wits end!! Note: taking an elf team myself is not an option!!

| First, even though you're a chaos dwarf coach, you're still coaching dwarfs and must remember it's all the elves' fault to begin with. Grumble about it loudly while playing the match... seriously, it helps! ![]() What strategy does the other coach use? If they do a passing game, I'd suggest maybe getting disturbing presence on a couple of your blockers or the mino if you can make it to the thrower. It shuts down a passing game quite nicely, those who played against a Nurgle team know just what I'm talking about. Always keep an eye out for leap players, and on defense I'd keep the bull centaurs as safeties, personally. Use one to charge and the other to scoop up the ball. It may sound odd, but I think there might be a little too much guard, some prehensile tails instead might help even things out. |

| Sound advice.. I dont however grumble. I crack it!! Cursing is common. The elves in the league long pass. The High Elf long bombs on 2's!! His AG6 thrower is a bitch. The reason for all the guard is because of the amount of bash teams in the league. There is a chaos team with 11 guard players!! As well as a ST7 Minotaur, a Blocking Yhete just to name a few. So it was essential to get that much. Im done now tho. Stand firm next on normal rolls. Disturbing Presence would be nice but ive only had 2 doubles rolled on the short blokes. 1 was the +1ST. But with finals coming up and the High Elf TV2300 team looming, i fear another loss and quick exit from the finals.

| You should have kicked and not received in the 1st Half... that is the classic 2-1 grind. So you make the elf score in 2-3 turns. Giving you 5-6 turns to score back. SAFELY. Then in the 2nd Half you slow cage all the way to win 2-1. Boring but effective. Important is not blocking... but a safe ball. How are your caging abilities ? When you pick up the ball in backfield do you have 2-3 guys doing it to make sure its safer ? Do you cover the flanks to force elves to dodge or blitz ? Like I said in another topic... if you don't force elves to roll dice they won't lose. You need 2-4 tackle players to take down blodgers. Always send one person to harass the long bomb thrower (so he throws faster and that gives you more time to TD back). Your low cost players should mark elves. Eventually they will roll 1's and fail... but if they don't roll... Have you ever played an elf team ? Play one... so you can understand how they work. That really helped me. Before I just saw a lot of elves running around and I didn't understand. Now I know that a few stay here and there to support this and that. That the thrower is made safe by distance... and that one player alone moving against him usually makes elves more nervous than it should. In the end... if you have only 1 agile oppo and way more bashy... just accept that loss and focus on winning the bashy teams.

| Hm? more than AG5 is irrelevant for 2+ Long Bombing (notwithstanding tackle zones, Sun and DP). Accurate and Strong Arm in addition to at least AG5 would be relevant though. |

In regards to my caging ability id say it was sound. I almost never allow my ball carrier to be blitzed and wen he is it is always 2D my favour. Yes i have played an elf team. I learnt the game with (i think 4th edition) Dark Elves. The roster with lineelves, throwers, blitzers and witches. So i have a good understanding of elven concepts and their abilities. I do take the comments about kicking and although i am all in favor of getting first chance at blocking i understand wat benefits kicking first has on the 2-1 grind. Thankyou!! And i probably should have put more players back to cover the 'perfect kick. I guess i was a bit hopefully of an average kick. Ok so kick first. Wen recieving have more players back. And pressure the deep thrower (the last one i do with a ST5 Bull Centaur ) Any other pointers.. I really wanna win this next game.

(Of course, he is an high elf, so in his case it is more like 1=fumble, 2= safe throw hold on to ball and 3+ accurate pass) And yes, stealing ball from ground with AG 6 is a pain. What I won with when playing Chaos Dwarves in final with woodies was that his team got out of place, allowing me to stall for 2-4 turns on the TD-line each half without any particular threats. Use your guard superiority to tie up many elves with fewer dwarves so you still have safeties. Hunt his ballcarrier with Frenzibull, but the rest of the time try to get maximum effect of Claw-MB or just MB.
