Some of you will already know from my first thread, that my Dwarven team "Badgers Brawlers" have just finished their (and my) inaugural season without winning a single and only scoring one measly touchdown overall! Obviously this is not a good state of affairs, so imagine my excitement during a game yesterday, to discover myself in a position to double that score by making a second (count em!) touchdown!! I had a Dwarf runner with the ball in the center of a cage, but the cage was surrounded by pesky humans! It was their turn they straight away tried to break my cage by attacking a Troll Slayer at the front. (Heh! I almost sound as though I know what I'm talking about!) An unfortunate move as it turned out because it ended in disaster for them when "Spock" (My Troll Slayer..yep, sad I know) put the attacker down hard, causing a turnover. The Dwarfs turn and for once everything seemed to be going my way. I attacked the three players besieging one side of my cage and they all folded like cheap suits, ending up lying on the floor in various degrees of agony! I suddenly realized that this had in effect opened a pretty wide window on that side and I sent my runner (Scotty...yep that's right.) tearing up the pitch with ball in hand. He made it just past half way before running out of steam, but nobody on the human team was going to be able to get to him on their next go as far as I could tell. Amazingly it seemed I had worked it out right for a change. A few of the enemy used their turns up just standing up and those who could run, couldn't run far enough to reach me! It looked as though I had a free run at the scoring zone! Without preamble I clicked straight on Scotty, but found that the touchdown square and the one immediately before it, were "go for it" squares. I've not had a lot of luck with these rolls up to now and I wasn't sure whether or not to risk it. But a look around the field and I was pretty sure that they still couldn't catch me in their next turn and so I decided that there was no way I was going to risk losing my precious (Ooooh...my precious) second ever touchdown, just because I was too impatient to wait a moment longer! So I clicked "end turn" button and....................... THE MATCH ENDED!!!! I hadn't been looking at the turn counter and I'd been on my last turn!! I couldn't believe it! Just how stupid do you have to be to...... oh I just don't want to talk about it anymore! Badger Last edited by Coach; 9th February 2010 at 01:23 PM. Reason: fixed loosing to losing

| Ah a classic mistake that never fails to get a laugh, I've seen experienced coaches do the same thing. Love your writes up though, very entertaining, hope you keep them up!

Luckily it's better now that the teams have seperate turn counters. When the game first came out it was both easier to do that and to forget how many turns your opponent had left. Nowt worse than thinking you've reduced some elves/rats to one turn to score a miracle touchdown only to realise they still have their 15th turn to play.

I did something similar in the Cyanide game, I was trying to select a player at the top of the screen and accidentally hit the End Turn button! So now I make very sure I scroll up the screen till my dude is in centre screen.

Classic! Never mind mate - chalk it up to experience! ![]() I had something similar in one of my last games against the Orcs. I play Skaven so, as you can imagine, there was a fair amount of twitching rats lying down for a large part of the match! Score - 2-1 to them. My turn 16. Orc ball carrier about 5 squares from my end zone with a Black Orc body guard. The middle of the pitch was slowly being churned up with mud and rat blood... not good. He finished his turn 16 like that and I had a last ditch chance to equalise and go for sudden death (poor choice of words for Rats vs. green skins really!) I had a line man free so I moved him in to give me an assist on the ball carrier. A Storm Vermin was out of the ruck in the middle and I had a lone Gutter Runner on the far left, close enough to score if I could get him the ball. Nice clear line all the way up left field. A Storm Vermin dodges away from the ruck and blitzes the ball carrier, defender down! Great! Ball bounces into the Black Orcs tackle zone but at the top so still no major problem here. So now grab the ball, chuck it to the Gutter Runner, run it in for the draw... easy as pie! Then the mistake... I used my blitzing Storm Vermin to pick up the ball ![]() Did it without thinking... the excitement of possibly equalising got to me. He picked it up alright... even managed to dodge back out again... Can't throw or hand off the ball after a blitz can you? *bashes head on table* Final score, 2-1 to the Orcs and a distraught Skaven coach with a sore head *sob* ![]() So I know your pain - I think we've all been there at least once (probably more!)
