Default How does putting cash into petty cash work ?
So I've tried 3 times putting some more money into inducements and it never works.

One time I had 60k inducements. I put in 40k... and pressed "yes"... I still had 60k inducements. How does this work ? Only the bigger/smaller player can chose to put more ?

The coach with the higher TV choses how much cash he wishes to move from treasury to petty cash, and this cash is added to his TV for this game. Then the coach with the lower TV puts in as much money as he likes, which is added to his TV for this game. Then the free gold is worked out from this TV difference, after petty cash.

So when you had a lower TV of 60 and you put in 40k of your own money, your TV went up by 40 so you only received 20k free gold.

At least I think that's right, we hardly ever used petty cash when I used to play tabletop...

Yep Rusty's right. The money you put in to petty cash adds to your tv BEFORE working out the free cash.

This means that in practice if you have 40 less TV you need to put 50k in to get a Babe and your opponent gets 10k free cash, which he can do nothing with.

In my opinion it's a stupid system and causes a huge amount of confusion and irritation among coaches. It is however, for once, not a problem caused by Cyanide.

Lol.

Ok basically it is not worth putting money into inducements unless

1/ You are the higher TV team and want some inducements
2/ You are the lower TV team and the TOTAL amount of money you put in gives you the inducements you need.

The cash you put in and the free cash you get DO NOT stack as the lower TV team, you get the higher of the two, hence your first case when you had 60k to start with put 40k cash in and just get the 60k.

You would have had to put in 100k to get 100k inducemnts, and your opponent would have got 40k.

It is in the rulebook somewhere, but jsut remember you only get the higher of the money you put in or difference in TV before you start putting cash in.

I will take a stab at this too.

Here's how it works:

Say you have a team that has a TV of 1200 and you're up against a team worth 1300. Petty cash is chosen by the player with the highest TV first, and then the lower. Say that your opponent decides to put in 150k to get a Wizard. You decide to not put anything into the petty cash. Now, the petty cash adds to the TV of both teams, meaning yours is still worth 1200 (no petty cash) and your opponent's is worth 1450 (1300 TV + 150k Petty Cash).

After this, the free cash is distributed meaning that you will get 250k from the difference in your TVs, instead of the 100k you would get if your opponent had declined to put anything into the Petty Cash.

On the other hand, say that you want to get a Wizard and your opponent declines to put anything into the Petty Cash. In the case above, you would have to put in all 150k from your Treasury, and this adds to your TV before working out free cash, meaning you now have a TV of 1350 (TV + 150k Petty Cash) and your opponent has 1300, you have 150k to spend on inducements and your opponent gets 50k for free cash to spend as well.

Ok... so basically you always have to put in the amount you need... what changes is how much your oppo gets.

Not as well as the system that was playtested and in the LRB6 until 5 minutes from the publishing date.
