Default OCC team blog - Inglorious Basterdz
hey all, been reading all the impressive blogs here, and thought i would like to record my experiences with my humans who are currently in tier 2 of the OCC after 3 1/2 seasons.

So first off the bat, here is the current team.

Blitzer - mb, tackle, dauntless, po
Blitzer - +ag, guard, dodge, tackle
Blitzer - guard
Blitzer - guard

Ogre - guard, SF, po

Thrower - +ag, dodge, block, nos

Catcher - +ag, block, ss, sure feet
Catcher -
Lino - wrestle, dodge
Lino - DP, kick (nig)
Lino - DP, SG (-av)
Lino - DP
Lino - wrestle
Lino -
Lino -

4 rerolls,
TV - 2050
15 players, with 3 fouling lino's

So how has my team got to here?
Season 7 of OCC: Div 4d, 5-1-3, 3rd, Dirty git winner

I went 5-1-3 to finish 3rd in th basterdz innaugural season. pretty good, but bit sad considering i went 4-0-0 to begin. lost in the 2nd last round to the eventual high elf winners 3-2, while also losing a blitzer with guard.

Season 8: Div 3c, 5-0-4, 4th, no dirty git comp held
Saw me in Div 3 against some more developed sides. A slow start to the season solidified at the end which saw me go 5-0-4, which gave me 4th position and a promotion to tier 2! highlights of the season include clearing a pro elf team off the field, and dismantling an older chaos squad . i also managed a 2-0 win over current T1 side occam's choppa. i did however lose my 2nd thrower who has yet to be replaced.

Season 9: Div 2c, 3-2-4, 7th, Dirty git winner
Tough season, against a bunch of more experienced teams. it came down to the last game where i had to win to avoid relegation, which was acheived by clearing the chaos side off the pitch! Low lights included my star blitzer dying after he unsuccessfully blitzed a SF troll with a reroll. Next turn he got killed by troll with my stupid apo agreeing. Thankfully my star thrower had cheated death a couple of times by now.
i also had a win turned into a draw by some 1 turning elves

Season 10: Div 2c, 2-2-2, (4th season of the basterdz)
not too bad, though i will need another win to avoid relegation, while 1st and 2nd are 9 and 6pts ahead with 3 games to play.

Next up: Hail Mary's, coached by none other than Bathoz himself. he is on 7pts and also needs the win.
It is a high elf team with 13 players, and a tv of 2000. Game is scheduled for friday night at 20:00gmt.
so tactics. 2 normally crop up when playing elves with my team. score quick and go for a shoot out, or my preferred method, beat the crap out of em for 16 turns and go for 2-1. this will all depend on who kicks off and how injuries and fouling goes early. There are 4 catchers out there 2 target, and a thrower with a niggle.
his biggest threats will be his 2 star catchers, and a guard sidestep blitzer. no DT to worry about which is nice, and only 3 SS i think.
Either way this should be a very good game as it normally is with humans and the av8 elves.

will have a match report to follow soon

Hey nufflehatesme, good to see another OCC blog over here!

I've kept an eye on your team, as I enjoy playing with humans myself - am playing with a human team in the CCV final. It's an internal tournament organized on the forum here and is a bit of fun, with some good coaches playing. They are still taking sign-ups for CCVI if you are interested.

I think you take the right approach with your team going for a big roster and lots of foulers, as that's probably the best way to keep up with the bashy teams at high TV, while also keeping an edge against the agile teams, although it must be annoying when the ref is not taking any nonsense!

Hi nufflehatesme

Good to see another human blog on here and for a team that appears to be holding it's own. I like your tactics in that if you can't win fairly cheat like hell and foul them of the pitch. It in an interesting way to progress the team.

Don't whant to hog your blog to much, but do you feel a human team needs an Ogre? I had one for the Ancient Titans but he died in my first game. I have done reasonably without one until my last match against a very strong Orc team.

All the best for future and maybe we will meet one day on the pitch, where we can foul each other off the pitch!

in regards to the ogre, the only time i would not re hire him after buying him in a private league is to keep tv down. however i would only do it if it meant i could induce a loner ogre against the bash teams (or zug on TT) as well as bribes/wiz/apo etc.
against agility teams he is not really needed and may be the difference between you or them getting the wizard.
to sum up, he is crucial against bash teams, not so much against ag. a merc ogre is only 30k more tv, so is a solid inducement option (loner is no penalty compared to a regular ogre).

i will post my thoughts and tactics on playing humans here on this forum, as i cant create an account on the cyanide forums hopefully you will see some insight on how i play the ogre (as well as the rest of the team)

I have one question, why did your team start in tier 4?

i rerolled with the arrival of LE from my dark elf team that was in 4a at the time. tier 4 was the start of the divisions that rerolled.
has meant my relatively inexperienced team has come up against orc and chaos sides with 50+ games under their belt as i have gone up the tiers.
thank god apo's and babes were implemented properly this time round

My advice? Line everyone up on the side lines, and then don't move for 16 turns. It's fool proof!

Not that I mind that you are here, quite the opposite since I don't read very much of what goes on at Cyanide's forums, but the problem with registering last month was that it created an account for you, but didn't really tell you it did and didn't send an activation email. (Then when you trid to create the account again it told you how you couldn't do that since the account already existed.)

If that is what happened to you as well, try the login button and then the resend activation email link: Blood Bowl • User Control Panel • Send activation e-mail
