So I've been having some success with my first Pro-Elf team in FOL. Thought it might merit a team topic... especially since I have little experience being or hitting elves in general. I've had a few nasty injuries and a blitzer death... rebounding now. 8 games total.

So I managed a 5 -1 victory over a badly managed and unlucky Dark Elf team.

1) Got some skillups... already chose "kick" for a lineman. Now I need to chose if I use a double roll for my Guard Lineman or if I give him block to protect him. Against agile non-guard teams I've put him on the LOS with some degree of success.

2) The new catcher "Gloria Gaynor" managed 3 TDs this game... and I have to chose which path to begin. Considering the need of having to replace the Wrackler that has a niggling injury. Not sure if Niggling warrants dumping him or not...

Suggestions ?

Also on offense I've been doing the regular "open hole in line" pour 3 catchers routine that seems to be the pro-elf staple. Works fine... now I need to get a better defense against Bashy teams... what do I need ?

Thinking of making the Tackle Blitzer into a Diving Tackle marker. With a catcher as wrestle / strip always.

Wrestle on the catcher.

Doubles on the lineman is hard. I'd say take MB and hope he doesn't die.

Sack the -av. Better lower tv than that. Replace the niggling when you can.

Pro elves I find to be a bit like skaven. Except with a throwing game and your players being:

Blitzers-markers
Catchers-half receivers, half runners/wracklers

Instead of:

Grs: half receivers/markers, half runners/wracklers.

This gives you 6 players instead of 4, meaning that you have more flexibility and a pretty impossible to stop scoring game. The problem is you are expensive and weak, and the dreaded double 1s can stuff you.

The blitzers are great markers and you're going the right way with tackle and diving tackle. Don't pass up guard (obv.) as that helps on offence.
The catchers are excellent players, really amazing, and having some with block dodge and ss and the others with wrestle, strip ball/tackle (one each) and leap can get you places, especially if you get some AGI.

Linemen are really cheap, so I would keep the dirty player option in mind. With excellent markers and some unstoppable offence the fouling risk is often worth it.

I think that I would give the lino dodge and ignore the double. Another great skill to help your defence against bash is fend. It stops their march forward, and it helps to keep your player alive

Dodge for guard lino ? Wouldn't block be better to keep him alive and in position to help ?

Either or.

Block is a good survival skill, but dodge means you can reposition him to where he is needed without having to risk the rerolls you want to use for blocking..

And dodge also protects him, and most likely you will move him in order to get blocks with other players

Dodge guard gets my vote! Soo nice to have a mobile guard!

And I must say that AG+1 on the Thrower must be sooo good. How often do you use Safe Throw though? Not a skill I take often, but might be worth considering...

On the Catchers I swear I will get one and don't start with giving him Dodge, but it is soo nice to have so I usually end up giving them dodge for first skill and then focus on their roles in the team.

And yeah, dropping the TV down by firing the -AV guy might be a good idea.

It is great... bonus in everything that matters... pass, dodge and pickup. Can't wait to get more skills on him. On defense he picks up after blitzers drop the ball... usually in 1 TZ yet with good chances.

During a game I thought about how Safe Throw is rare... and soon after I got snake eyes. He didn't throw the ball and it wasn't turnover. But more important is that when I'm going to throw I can chuck it over the enemies instead of trying fancy angles to avoid that occasional 6 on interception. Agi 5 on safe throw makes that even less likely.
