| Hi there. A bit of advise from a veteran Ogre playerL A good setup is : 4 ogres, 4 re-rolls, 8 snotlings. You need the re-rolls, as the snotlings will go down fast. the 4 ogres are enough to hold the lines and bash anyone who gets close enough. Do not expect to win many games in the first TWO seasons. At all. This team takes time to progress. Skills: Ogres - Break tackle on all. This will stop a single lineman holding you up for the whole game. then one Ogre with Strong Arm (Snot throwing) and the rest get Piling On. I understand that this may leave the ogres on the ground for a turn, but you do not have to use it, and it helps wrack up the SPP's from casualties for them. Lets face it, they are more likley to get SPP from kills than scoring. The other option for the skills is Grab, as you can chain pull a few players into a killing box of ogres, and it can help break open a cage if needed. People talk about Guard as a good skill, but there will be very few times when it becomes useful. The ogres are big enough to not need assists most of the time, and the snotlings strength of 1 means you still need two assists to make it a 1 dice block. Any Doubles should become Block. even strength increases. Strength 6 makes no difference to most blocks from strength 5, and the snots are too weak to be anywhere near the fighting. take an ag boost, to make a ogre ball carrier, and the movement or armour should be your choice. i would not take either myself as the stats are high enough that 1 point does not make a difference. Snotlings: Get diving tackle. this may seem a bit unusual for such a low strength player, but it works because they can only blitz once per turn. keep the snots on square away but in a close line and they have to try to push through. diving tackle turns even an elf dodge into a 4+. other options for the first skill include srint or sure feet, for that thrown snotling. The only other skills to consider is sneaky git, but the snots will be going off the pitch quickly without any extra help, and this can put them close enought to be hit. Any double should be used to get something that will benifit the team, such as kick, leader or - gasp - Hail mary pass. the Stunty rule stops this team throwing, but it does not affect hail mary's, and the rest of the team can concentrate on getting down the end of the pitch while three snotlongs stay near your end, drawing the opposition towards you. Stat increases should be ignored except agility. even then the low movement does not mean you can get away from the other players, and you will be dodging on 2+ anyway. Team Progression: Get an aPothacary, replace the dead snotlings, and buff the team up another two ogres. The snotlings will die faster than you can replace them, and should be cut if any injury befalls them. they are not worth keeping as they can be replaced so quickly. dont be afraid to drop a snotling that gets two skills that are not at least 1 double. A snotling can cost triple their vlue in team value with two skills, and if they are knocked out in the first turn, it can be a bloodwiser babe the opponent should not have got. this team needs inducements to keep up. fill the spots with the two missing ogres, get the extra re-rolls, and dont forget to have fun. Anyway. this is only my oppinon. but i will say, a fully developed team can make the opposition cry with the damage they can do! Just dont expect it right off the bat. | Hi I am new to the forum and I have a question I been playing bloodbowl for a few monts now and my favorite team is the ogre team and I have learned a lot about playing them on this very post. But I still have one question, when given the choice should I decide to receive or to kick. I see the ogre team as a bashing team and when i normaly play whit such a team I prefer to kick but whit the ogre team and their snotling would it not be wiser for me to receivr and try to score a least one touch down with all my player still on the pitch?
