Default THN League Taking signups
THN are taking sign-ups for next season if anyone is interested. Last season was 3 divisions of 6 teams each. The top team moves up a division, whilst the last placed goes down. I started in tier 3 as Halflings and came first with 4/1/0. But division 2 and 1 have more experienced coaches. Whilst there are 6 teams in each division, 1 is a dummy team that gives you a bye-week and automatic win (lots of money and SPP) at some stage during the season. This makes it a bit different from the standard league and helps you to bounce back if your team gets crippled.

Its run by Panda with issues who used to be active on this forum and a couple of other guys. Quite a casual and laid back league that’s fun for not being overly competitive.

I would recommend it for:
a. beginner coaches looking to play similar level coaches; or
b. experienced coaches looking to play as one of the tier 3 teams but still with a great chance to win (just look at my record with Flings).

Would it also be suitable for unusual, sub-optimal team builds like my Savage Orc themed team with one Black Orc and 4 Goblins?

Sorry, i should have specified. Its Cyanide, not tt. Also they use the standard rules (not extended inducements).

Regarding teams, i'm sure themed teams would be welcome. Actually, anybody would be welcome, but if you are an experienced coach looking to put in a competitive team, i would probably let the admins know in advance. Then maybe they can bump you up a division.

I think what they want to avoid is experienced coaches totally overwhelming newbies and ruining the BB experience for them.

I had such a fun season with my Halflings. I even went a themed LOTR Hobbit team, hence Bilbo got +AV to represent his mithril armour. The Gaffer got diving tackle to represent his old guy walking stick tripping people up and Bullroarer Took got Sure feet to help him charge in for the smackdown! Now im just waiting for one of the Sackville Bagginses to skill up so I can give them sneaky git!

A shame that Frodo and Pippin died though...

So, I'm one of the admins for the BB league on the THN forum.

It's a small community that plays a number of games (almost exclusively PC), one of which is Blood Bowl.

It is primarily a fun league, with a broad range of skills, from 'lets hit people and foul' to the more sophisticated tactics of Narly Bird. If you're looking for min maxed, ultra competitive games, or to roll over some newbie players, this is not a league for you (I.e Sceaudeau). If you're looking for a bit of a mess around, and to build a team over a series of short (6 week ish) seasons, with some more competitive, strategic play in the upper divisions, this may be something you're interested in. We're happy to welcome more players (of any games) to the THN community, but we'd prefer people who post, and give back to the forums in general, while maintaining the relatively relaxed, close knit community that has developed.

Seems interesting... just haven't figured out what teams can be put there. I have an Amazon team in the 1500s... would that be possible ?

Edit: Maybe take my Fling team that isn't working in the MM environment... they have 8 matches only.

Hi guys,

Are the games on a weekly base and can you fit in a coach with EU timezone ?
If so, I would be happy to join the THN league.

I will create a new TV1000 team but still need to figure out what team I wanna play with.

thanks

My sophisticated tactics involving throwing a Halfling, then fouling!

LOL. His legend lives on! He should get some kind of award for being the most abrasive coach in a CC!

---

Based on last season we had weekly rollover, but if the week finished early then it would roll over early and everyone got more time to play the next MD.

As for skilled/unskilled teams, it seems to be still undecided. Panda can update us once the admins figure it out. Last season they allowed some of the coaches to have off-season matches, but i think that was just for continuing teams, not new entrants.

As Narly said, we're still working stuff out. If you're interested, post on the THN forums, we'd like to get a good number on players wanting in before sorting stuff out, as it takes a while to faff with cyanide's interface.

We'll decide what we want to do based on number of people who want to play, what teams they want to use, team values and relative skill level. There are a number of moderately developed teams in the THN league atthe moment (TV 1300-1500 or so) but a lot of the top end teams (1600+) are going to be withdrawn by their coaches it seems, and new ones input instead, though not necessarily completely rookie teams.

Myself and the other league admins will try and sort it this weekend, and the info will be up on the THN site, though I'll try to keep you informed here as well.

As a gut feeling, we probably wouldn't want to accept teams higher than around 1400 or so, since there will be a lot of fresh teams this season, and a top heavy league is what we've just had, and is a reason a lot of people will be entering other rosters (as well as for a bit of a change).

We can certainly accomodate euro time zone players. We've just about managed to accomodate narly, and he's in Japan.

As for the general gist of things, We'll probably try to get a league overview up this weekend, and sign ups over the next week or so, with the aim of kicking off next weekend, I.E. the first weekend of november.

Typically: 1 game a week, rollover sunday to sunday, unless all games get played before hand, in which case, it rolls over early, and you get an extra long week to play. Bye weeks have been had in the past, to bulk up the numbers of teams. THat may not be the case if there are a lot of new coaches.

We'd prefer more, smallerdivisions, for 'shorter' seasons, with more promotion/relegation, as it keeps interest up, and people playing a greater variety of opponents.
