Default Thrudball 2011 TV1200
Just played in the Thrudball 2011 over the weekend where I took vamps

skills came out the TV1200 and depending on which race you took depended on how many players you could give skills to
the players you could skill were allowed one or two skills each but you couldn't give the same combo of skills to more than one player (so if you gave one player just block, someone else couldn't have just block, they would have to have a second skill with it)
if you gave a player a double, if they took a second skill it had to be a normal roll
you could only select one stat increase for the whole team

vamps could skill up to 6 players though I only had enough cash to skill up 5 as I wanted:

vamp: block dodge
vamp: block frenzy
vamp: dodge sure hands
thrall: leader
thrall: wrestle tackle
8 thralls
4 rerolls

worked out rather well, I won 4 games and lost 2, though one of the losses I failed a gfi to equalise so could have well been 411 rather than 402

the other game I lost, I made some silly mistakes against a good coach (who won the tournament), so deserved to lose it

was a good ruleset compared to the more common resurrection events, I think it may have been the first tournament I've played against 6 different races, there were a lot of stunty teams but I didn't play any

opponents were: lizards, chaos dwarfs, nurgle, khemri, orcs, chaos pact (wllwww)

overall I think I made the right choices regarding lineup and wouldn't change anything from that point of view

there is another tournament coming up in october that uses the same(ish) rules so I'll give them another run out there too, just waiting to see where this puts me in the NAF vampire rankings after the horrible time I had at the previous event

I really wanted to make Thrud bowl, I was chatting with the organisor at the NAF championship. Unfortunately it was too far. It was brave taking vamps.

What was the atmosphere like?

ah you ran into "mad" Frank!

organisation and timing was a bit of an issue this year and things were running late on both days due to various factors. Due to that and some french coaches staying with me who needed to get back to the Eurostar we had to leave after the last game so missed all the prize giving. Someone suggested that I may have the best comeback award though I've yet to hear and I've not seen the final standing yet, only know who won

it was actually a very good ruleset for vampires compared to most as you get all the skills at the start for every game and you can put 2 skills on players rather than just one

atmostphere was much the same as it is at most tournaments, though I doubt any other will have the organiser being pelted with rotten fruit, cricket balls and being shot by bb guns
plenty of ppl were filming that, I'll post a link if I see one up on youtube
