Default turnament input
Hey guys.

Im attending at a turney in Denmark in a few month, and i intend to field my ogre team.

The rules are 6. ed competition rules with 1.1 million teams.

Cas are not transfered between games, so the starting rooster is what you play with throughout the entire turney.

Each team starts with a couple of skills, the options are:

5 normal skills

3 nomal skills and 1 "+1M" or "+1AV"

3 normal skills and 1 double

1 nomal skill and 2 double

There are trophies for 1, 2, 3, most TD and most CAS. I intend to go for the "most CAS" trophy, thats just my style of game :P

I though about the followin rooster:

6 ogres
6 snotlings
2 rerolls

I though about taking the 5 normal skills and choose 1 multiple block, 2 break tackle and 2 pilling on.

So far 2 human, 1 skaven and 1 lizardmen have signed up, so the popential for most cas is pretty huge.

Any thoughts on skills and tactics?

Hi Omalley69,

Ogres are a tough team to be taking, especially with only five skills.

A couple of Piling On Ogres can be tough to deal with and Break Tackle can help, I'm not convinced about Multiple Block though, especially as you only have two rerolls and no Block, Sure Hands etc

Unfortunately Ogre teams aren't blessed with much in the way of skill choice access. I doubt you really need Guard with six ST5 players, Stand Firm while handy I can't see it being too useful in a tournament like this. Strong Arm may help with a Throw Team Mate touchdown or two, but again you only have two rerolls so even with that I don't think the chances of success are greatly affected by taking Strong Arm.

You could take another Piling On perhaps...

I think you might be better off only taking five Ogres and seeing if you can squeeze in a third reroll, taking the 3 skills and one double choice as well. Take 2x Piling on, Break Tackle and then use the double to get Sure Hands, or perhaps Block. Even if you stick with the six Ogre team taking a double choice may still work better.

Seems like the Faroe Islands Flag isn't working, I'll have to look into that when I get a moment. If that is indeed where you are from, I think you are the first Bloodbowler I know of from there!

From my perspective 2 re-rolls is way to few. Whenever I play Ogres I want at least 4. My build for the tournament would probably be something along the following lines.

5 Ogres
6 Snotlings
4 Re-rolls

I could also be tempted by 3 re-rolls, an extra Snot and an Apothecary, but I feel deeply uncomfortable with out my 4 re-rolls.

I would go with either 5 skills and take 1 Strong Arm, 2 Break Tackle, 1 Stand Firm and 1 Piling On, or the 3 plus double and go Strong Arm, 2 Break Tackle and a Block. From playing recently and the steadfast refusal of certain Ogres to skill (Zek I'm looking at you!), 1 Break Tackle is not enough if they break because you are almost guaranteed to throw that 1 for Bonehead when you try to chase them down.

Only eleven players is surely asking for trouble though?

That's something I have been thinking about. Snotlings are going to get removed in droves so the addition of 1 or 2 more I doubt will make much difference. Where I have had deaths or injuries in the past, I have coped with just the 11

The other options is drop a re-roll for an extra snotling and apothecary who work exclusively for the Ogres of course. Then i'd be tempted by the three skill and double build, using the double to pick up Leader

Making an ogre team for a resurrection tournament is a simple case of math.

4 rerolls is probably optimum - if you don't run out then that is great, fewer is not to encourage when so few of your players have block. This costs 280k.

Then snotlings are very fragile, and you don't need to worry about them stealing MVP:s, so you buy the maximum of 16, for 320k.

This leaves you with 500k, and the realization that some ogres might be good in an ogre team. Well, upgrading snotlings to ogres cost 120k, which means the base team is:

4 Ogres
4 Rerolls
12 Snotlings
2 FF

A workable option to make your ogres last longer is
4 Ogres
4 Rerolls
10 Snotlings
1 Apotechary
1 FF

In the latter case, use the apotechary on your first ogre if he is BH - if he's MNG or worse then you might want to save the apotechary for later unless it is already the second half of the game.

For skills, 2 break tackle and 1 block is probably mandatory. Adding a strong arm to the fourth ogre means being able to also make short (snotling) throws on 2+, which might well be useful. Else piling on could be fun there, even if it might make him attract more fouls.

Yes its for the Giant Fanatic 14 event =)

I dont live on the Faroe Islands anymore, but my origin is Føroyar. =)

I dont intent to go for victories, so im not that interested in strong arm. When i play ogres its purely to have a laugh. Besides the team has a chance of taking the most cas trophy, so why not?

As said Cas arnt transfered between matches, so the apoc has little intrest to me. Esp with so low bashy teams.

Im bringing my BB set to European Team Championship next week, so ill have a ton of playtesting. =) But im 100% sure ill go for 5-6 ogres. 6 is very tempting as its been awhile since ive advanced my ogres so far to afford the 6. ogre. (we tend to play short leagues)

Then you should go for piling on instead of strong arm, as I said.

And in resurrection tournaments the apotechary is not to save you from permanent injuries, so you don't use it on a player that died - you use it on a player that is BH to put him in the reserves box instead of in the CAS box - or even on a KO player to keep him on the pitch (stunned, but hey)

Ahh just got the resurrection part now =) nice one.

Mjah, with so few bashy teams, i dont think itll be top priority. Ill rather have more snots in this kind of turney, but ill promise you this, ill playtest it =)
