Default vs Norse
We have a work league that plays on the Cyanide game. In my last season I faced two Norse teams. The first beat me 2-1 and the other conceded the match just after the half down 2-0 and with less than 1/2 of their team on the pitch. I hadn't played BB since 3rd edition and was quite rusty. I think I have shaken off the rust a bit however in the first match I have to face off against last season's BB Winner. We are both playing TV1000 teams.

What I am hoping the forums can help me with is. What is a good strategy both offensive and defensive against the Norse. Should I be playing the 2-1 grind against them. Is a Ziggurat style defense going to work or will it just get my Mummy's mauled?

Undead Team (970)
5 Zombies
2 Mummys
2 Blitzers
2 Ghouls
3 RR

Norse Team (1000)
2 Berserkers
2 Werewolfs
2 Runners
5 Linemen
2 RR
1 Apoth

Any suggestions or formations on play-creator are welcome.

Thanx

Crypt

Receive first... that way you dish damage out first.

As Lebe said, if possible receive first. With 2 mummies with mighty blow you should make good work with his line of scrimmage, hopefully getting one ahead asap.

Also, against early Norse anyone blocks equally well. (Since with early teams you don't want both down anyway, due to lack of skill on your side)

The norse will have an easier time blocking though, so you might want to keep yourself unmarked at the end of your turn.

Ziggurat could work. But whatever you pick, look out for the sidelines and frenziers.

try and get your players back eachother up. Let him frenzy into a difficult position and waste his reroll. He got only 2 rerolls. With the frenzy and nuffles sake he will soon and you are ready to take the advantage.

Receive first to try and remove some players early.

When kicking keep your Mummies off the LOS so at least one of them is standing ready to deal pain in your turn.

I'd probably use a Ziggurat with Zombies and Mummies at the front points and Ghouls and Wights behind.

Also be very careful near the sidelines as with 4 Frenzy players he could get creative with crowd surfs.

Ah I didn't even think to want the ball first but that makes sense. With 2 Runners I am assuming he will try and play more finesse than bashy and will try and use those frenziers to get around me.

I was thinking something like this (note: skeleton is used in place of a zombie on these formations)

Or this... which is what I think your describing jrpeart.

Any Thoughts?

Don't use the first formation, because one of your wing players will most likely get surfed straight away. Also you don't want your Mummies on the LOS when defending if you can help it.

The second formation looks fairly good, although you could also put all of your players in a more central bunch and just give up the wings altogether. Norse are not really fast enough to take full advantage of that and it means that you can then adapt more easily to his first turn moves.

Maybe something like this. It would pull the formation together and keep the mummys back and standing (hopefully) and should let me react to a short/out of bounds kick and an early sweep.

I'd have had the Zombies on the wings in 1 and the Wights out 1 but apart from that it was what I was describing.

And with 2 Runners I'd be using them to target Mummies as the Dauntless can make a big difference so be aware of that.
