It seems that there is a trend for coaches to create a thread for their team so that other coaches can follow their performance and provide feedback on tips and tactics to use in game. I have personally been enjoying reading Gallows Baits reports on his Elf team. In a similar spirit, I have decided to start a thread about my own Necromantic team, Wayne’s Underworld, which I just entered into a league over on Orca Cola.

First, a bit about Wayne’s Underworld. Its led by the 2 Wights, Wayne and Garth. They’ve brought along Alice Cooper and his band (zombies), Christopher Walken (Werewolf), Steven Tyler and Jim Morrison (Golums), and the Weird Naked Indian (Ghoul). With 3 rerolls, that comes to a cool 1 million.

Waynes World was a big influence on me growing up as a teenager (what teenager wouldn't idolise Wayne and Garth). I actually got the idea for the team name from a different movie, Stay Tuned, where a character in the movie gets sucked into the tv and appears on different tv shows. One of the tv shows was Dwayne's Underworld (a take on Wayne's World) where all the characters were zombies and they did an "extreme closeup with a red hot poker". A very funny scene, but not that great a movie.

Having decided on the theme i then had to think of which characters from the movie to bring along. I'm a big fan of Alice Cooper, so he and the band came along (conveniently the same number as the number of zombies on my team). Jim Morrison and Steven Tyler are rock legends and definitely had to come. That left the Ghoul, who became the Weird Naked Indian. And I couldn't look past Christopher Walken as the frightening and potentially deadly Werewolf. If anyone has seen the movie McBain, you will realise how deadly Christopher Walken can really be. If you haven't seen it, then go and rent it right now - great movie!

I’m not sure who I am facing first game, but am hoping its not Dwarf, Orc or Amazon ( I generally struggle against these teams at early tv). The first round starts on 1 December, so I should know by then. Will keep everyone posted and I look forward to receiving lots of advice and criticism (where its due) from other coaches.

Can't wait. I logged my first season in the OCC on here. Its interesting to look back at your early matches. You have some tough teams but you are also playing goblins and flings so it should balance. Looks like a little tackle should go a long way this season.

My advice will be limited as I've not played necro yet but I'm rooting for you.

This one will be very interesting to follow. I'm struggling to learn to play the Necromantic team myself so hopefully I can learn a bit or two here. I find them quite hard to play but I really like the team so I can't really give up on them.

Good luck in the league, my first observation, prioritize a bit of tackle early on, maybe first skill on Wayne and Garth. With High Elves, Wood Elves, Goblins, Halflings and Amazons out of 9 opponents there’s going to be a lot of dodge there worth blitzing.

Count me in as another new Necromantic coach looking forward to this. I think you've started with the same line-up as I did. Be ready for Mr Walken to get targeted! Getting blocks and blitzes with a single werewolf while keeping him safe (within reason, obviously) is something I've yet to get the hang of.

I have only had experience playing Necro in mm on Cyanide and have done ok so far, so am looking forward to trying them out in a league. At one stage, I actually managed to get a Necro team ranked 5th in Auld League, but that was just luck in winning 5 from 5 games when Legendary just came out. I retired them recently as they were named Wayne's Underworld and i wanted to use that name for the league.

The league doesn't kick off until 1 December, so will hopefully get my first game in sometime next week and will post up my tactics, match report, etc.

Regarding skills, I generally go Guard on the Wights as the first skill. But it would be very tempting to pick tackle, given all the dodge in my league. But I will make that decision when (and if) it comes.

@ Coach - Sorry for the confusion. I can understand why you thought it would be an Underworld team. Would love to have an Underworld team with such a name, but unfortunately the 3 new teams aren't supported in Legendary edition.

@ Netsmurf - will pm you the details for the league. Coachman is also taking part, although is in a different division than me.

Might not be for that long. Some people fly up the other divisions where others plummet as quickly.

An update on Waynes Underworld. We have been paired up for our first match against a High Elf team known as the Silverthorn Princes. 2 Blitzers, 1 Thrower, 8 Lineman and 3 rerolls.

I am quite happy with this matchup as i shouldn't suffer too many injuries and will have the upper hand in the bashing game. Although with agility 4 and 3 rerolls, i can't count on easy turnovers...

My tactics going into the game will be to kick off first and immediately pressure his ball carrier. Either forcing him to score early (turn 2 or 3) or else sacking the ball. I will then do the classic 2-1 drive with lots of bashing and some stalling.

If i should lose the toss and receive though, i am not sure how i should proceed with my gameplan? Should i go for a quick score if it presents itself, or else take up the full 8 turns before scoring?

Suggestions would be appreciated.
