I wasn't entirely sure about it either, to be honest, but when it filled up I went with it. Keep an eye on the matchmaking threads if you have good availability. If someone doesn't show up they will need to be swapped out.

Random question - having successfully participated (an lost) in the Spooners Cup, is my team now eligible for 2 off-season CTA games before applying to the next season of Crunch Cup? I ask because they only have 7 games worth of experience so far, so more is always better .

yes it is. When the "regular season" is over (including both the regular cup and whichever playoffs you participate in, or not) you can play 2 CTA games and still remain eligible for CCXII.
