Mornin' all.

Thought I'd say hi. Forgot to say it earlier.

Been a BB coach for a few years but haven't played for at least 4 years now. Just restarted thanks to the Cyanide game which my mate gave me his spare copy of. Played a few games and am enjoying it alot... despite getting mauled by every team I play! lol

Planning on joining my mates' online league once I've reaquainted myself with all the rules and built up a few decent plays.

Hoping that this site will come in handy in that respect and having read a few of the articles I believe it will.

My last team (miniatures, not on the computer) was prematurely ejected from the last league I played with my mates due to the Dungeon Bowl... damn that +1 armour roll!

They had come second in the Mithril Spike, third in the Chaos Bowl... then what was left of my team made it to the final of the Dungeon Bowl and won 3-1... then decided I had to retire the team cos I only had one player left standing with everyone else squished... I played a Chaos team in the final... I think they only scored by accident :)
So many serious injuries... so much death! *sob* :(

Gus Gus was the name of my prize Gutter Runner who died in that final. A one turn touchdown specialist that everyone wanted to kill... and finally did.

I'm currently trying to build another Gus Gus but with a different angle thanks to your Skaven advice Coach. Keep up the good work - I'm lovin' those Skaven pages. Very helpful!

Anyhoo... Hi! :D

Glad to have you aboard and nice to see you are rethinking the one turner build!

Yeah, before I was only interested in scoring quick and then surviving. I had no real long term thoughts towards it all back then.

At the time of his death Gus Gus had; Dodge, Block, Leap, Side Step, Extra Long Legs (which was +1MV back then), Sprint, +1MV, +1AV (Magic Helmet Card) and almost all of the TDs my team had ever scored :D

Reading the articles I can see that this was a very poor way to use the Gutter Runners.

He was bloody good though! :)

It does not sound a bad way to use a Gutter Runner to me!
Leap and Legs will get you a long way. I have a couple of Leaping AG 5 Catchers on my Elf team and they are great for scoring. I like turning my Catchers into War-dancers.

I shall have to send my brother a link to the Skaven pages since that is the team he plays. What skills are you thinking of giving the new Gus-Gus?

True, he was great while he was alive but he was hogging most of the SPPs in each match. He was scoring 90% of the TDs, usually 2-3 a match, and quick enough that most others weren't given the chance to do anything noteworthy (except bleed) :)

I'm liking the idea of Wrestle and using the Gutter Runners as surprise ball carrier attackers, maybe teaming them up so that one attacks and knocks the ball loose and another scoops it up (and hopefully runs it in). I'm trying to run 4 GRs in my team as Coach recommends, I can definitely see the benefit. I've also dropped the Rat Ogre - he was causing far too many turnovers.

I like the passing and running game and I've had some success with running a ball in from almost my end zone. Thrower picks it up, throws medium range to a Gutter Runner, he runs far and hands off to another Gutter Runner who then runs it in. Those little buggers cover a lot of ground!

I think that the ideal skills I would mix and match for my Gutter Runners, in no particular order at the moment:
Wrestle/Strip Ball, Side Step, Leap, Fend, Sure Hands, Sprint (maybe). Ideally I'd like at least one double to get a mutation or +MV/+AG - mutations I would think Long Legs is out now it has been changed although taking Pass Block may make that worthwhile... or vice versa. Probably Extra Arms or Two Heads for the most likely mutation.

Any thoughts on improved skill plans or does the above sound like a good build? Recommendations gratefully received.

EDIT: Shadowing... is that a decent GR skill? Sounds like it could be a laugh :)

Shadowing & Diving Tackle is a great combo. Even better if you have Side Step. Guard on doubles makes it really annoying as well! :)

I think having a couple of Wrestle/Leap Runners and the other two with Block, Side Step, Diving Tackle and finally Shadowing is a wonderful development plan.

Diving Tackle; Didn't think of that one (mind you, my GRs usually get punched out of the way!). I like the idea of that - k' I'm gonna start a new thread, this is turning into a development thread rather than a welcome one :)

Thanks for the advice so far Marlow and hope you'll join me on the other board!
