MD7 saw us facing the famous Rotting Rotters of Stahlburg. I bought 2 new Linos for the LoS as I had two MNGs and this left me 60K inducements, so I burnt 100K to get an extra Apo.

Lost the toss as expected and T1 his lvl6 NW gives -AV to a lvl 5 Blorc, Apo to a niggle. He makes a side play and scores T4 after I KOed his MB/Claw/JU Pestigor.

    0-1

I then proceed to do as much damage as I can, starting by a DP foul that kills the monstrous NW, unfortunately regen kicks in. But both his other killers are KOed, and I kill a lvl3 Rotter and niggle another. He still manages to sack the ball T7, and then I stupidly attempt the pick-up before moving someone into range. Cue snake eyes and no chance of scoring first half. Another NW is injured but regen works again...

    Half-time 0-1.

We line-up at 11 vs 7 as he rolls 1/4 for KOs (but the killer Pestigor wakes up). Difficult decision after the disaster of MD6, should I play for the draw or attempt the win again? My DP is KOed during the drive but my killer BH/no regen the lvl6 NW and the MB/Claw Pestigor is KO on a foul T12 (sent-off), so I score T13 with 4 Nurgle left on the pitch.

    1-1

Obv he gets all his KO back save 1 and my DP keeps sleeping, so it's 10 vs 8. He nearly pulls it off (fracking Beast made 16/16 RS rolls) but he's out of RRs after rerolling a lot of blocks with his killers and I sack the ball T15, knowing I already can't score. He gets it back and makes a pass to a player in range. I need a GFI and a dodge to 2D him (both succeed, I had 2 RR left), he is sacked and I put 3TZ on the ball. It's over.

    Final score 1-1.

A satisfying result as I outbashed him completly, but again a stupid mistake deprives me of a score. And a single injury T1 that the Apo fails to fix again. So a second niggle to go with the 2 -AV... sigh.

This leaves me third, the Chaos can tie me up if he beats Kaz (unlikely I think), but then I have to face him and with a missing Blorc this is going to be painful. Gonna have to pray I can win the toss for once, and aim for a draw.

My Thrower makes Super Star, no idea what I'm going to give him if he rolls normal again.

    MD 7 against Dreamy's undead

I receive and Dreamy elected to only start with 1 of his 4 Ghouls, to protect them. This made my job easier in the first half, and some good block dice saw me remove a Mummy who failed regen, and a Wight, who didn't, amongst others. The first half finished 1-0 to me.

The second half a fully Ghouled up Dreamy tried to attack quickly on his right, knocking out a flesh Golem on the way. He blocked the path with a Mummy next to the St+ Ghoul. A couple of assists and the path was cleared for me to get a 2 dice block on the ball carrier with my Wrestle Ghoul - leading to a pow, and a casualty.

The agile Wolf scampered round, grabbed the ball, with the other Wolf just behind for protection. I should maybe have tried some go for it's, and even thrown the ball forward at this point, but never mind. A skeleton dodged away to give an assist, and a Wight dodged away to take down the ball carrier, knocking him out. This was the last bit of luck Dreamy had. His sure hands Ghouls failed a pick up, and a scrum developed.

A chain push moving the ball saw it end up in the hands of Dreamy's Zombie. A few double skulls later, the Wolf takes down the Zombie , catching the lose ball, and dodging away from the tackle Wight. 2-0

The undead try a quick attack, the pass fails, and it finishes 3-0 to me.

Dreamy had rotten dice, that got worse as the match went on.

Next my promotion rival - 2of1's Lizards. A very well developed team 300 tv off ahead of mine. And I lack experience against the scaly ones.

Pit Machine had a tense 1-0 loss to the Excelsior Jesters in 2D. I kicked and sacked the BC twice, the second time the ball went in to the crowd getting thrown fortuitously within reach of the only elf on that side of the pitch which happened to be the thrower, turn 8 the catcher without any RR made a the 2gfi and long pass/catch, dodge/tackle, block the marker OOB to take him into the endzone. I lose another blocker early in the 2nd after a guard took a niggle in the first. Some brilliant dodging and chain pusing in the second half resulted in a loose ball which was recovered only to be spilled again. I felt we deserved the draw at least. On T5 after the elves found themselves surrounded and out guarded, made about seven dodges some with modifiers on them to get free and avoid taking losses. Not gutted but it now makes it hard to promote to Tier one. Tigga next week and Jakerbeefs nurgle after that. The good thing is, all the teams jostling for 2nd spot have tough games to come. We are 3-2-2 now and in third.

My underworld in 6B took 7+ casualties again this week - for the 4th time in their 14 game career.

This time it was vs Goblins, who fouled regularly throughout the game without being sent off, and despite being down to 5 players by half time I scraped a 1-1 draw.

That makes 15 casualties taken in the last 2 games.

Got a lucky and undeserved 2-1 win vs the Nuffle cursed and winless Dark Elves. He does have only 1 RR so he's kinda asking for it but every game he gets screwed on failures at the worst possible time. This time it was a failed 2+ dodge to take a 2-1 lead on T11 or so. Next turn I pick up the loose ball in my own end zone with my thrower, make a medium pass to a blitzer, and a clean break away is on with the troll and a black orc as escort.

I'm still alive for the division title at 4-2-1 and 2 points behind the co-leaders who play in MD 8. All three of us are +6 TD differential I think so if they draw and I win my next game vs Underworld I'll be at least +7 TD diff while they'll still be +6. My final game will be against Juriel's pack of likely 4 blodged Vamps which could be tough as he's turned into one of the best teams in the division the last half the season. My loss came to the co-first Lizards and one of my ties was to the co-first Orcs.

24 SPP in the match I think but no levels gained though my rookie troll did get the MVP. The real MVP of the match was my POMB blitzer who only tried 6 blocks but went 6/6 breaking armor 6 times with a stun, 2 KO's, and 3 CAS. He then caught the clearing pass to start a break away for the winning TD.

MD7 the Disciples earned a 2-0 win vs Milker's Exit, another Dark Elf team that has gotten the short end of the Nuffle Stick this season. I had two MNG players and we both had 11, though I definitely had an advantage in skills. I hunted his AV7 players with my assassin, earning a BH on his runner and KOing his witch in the first half, and came out of the game with 24 spp and three important levels: One on a skill-less +str lino, one on my dodge/pass runner, and the third on my rookie runner. I will likely take block on the first two and pass on the rookie runner, barring crazy stat boosts.

I'm currently third in the division, three points behind the leader, whom I play this coming week. If akirilus ties Bill-BJJ, we could have a three-way tie for first going into the final MD. Exciting!

I don't think we are going to have a tie, because nota is currently 3 points ahead of me (I am in 5th place). I think 5th place finish is what i am looking at.

Oh, I played Viajero this week, and lost 1-2. I inflicted 7 CAS, including 2 deaths. The dead players had 0 spp between them. The four players who actually matter came out of the game unscathed. I lost a ghoul for my troubles. In other words, this happened exactly as I thought it will (the elves rolled a WHOLE bunch of dice, failed almost nothing, and the one time they failed, I had my own snake-eyes to bail them out). Oh, my snake-eyes were of an unconventional variety. I needed to take gfi to get out of blitz range completely (because 2x wardancers, one with strip ball, against a rookie wight is just stupid), and failed. I then needed to get a KD with a LB to have a decent scoring shot at the beginning of my next turn. The LB also failed. Those back-to-back 1s sealed the deal. I would have gladly traded all 7 CAS, including both deaths, for 2 BHs to the wardancers that ACTUALLY STUCK. Anyway, GG - I do enjoy playing Viajero, even if I think his team is charmed.

Yeh, that 1st half ball steal was elf bullshit at its best no doubt. Only thing I can comment on (as mentioned in your team blog over at OCC) is on the lack of Guard around the ball, which allowed me the bullshit in the first place. Hard to see if this would have changed the game, but hey, fwiw.

Was a pleasure playing with you man and gg. Odds are next game I wont be so lucky (by then prolly my WD´s will be already long gone too :p ), and you ll have already Sure Hands on your Ghouls anyways, so there is that!

You're safe Barristan! Staffan got three dub skulls in the first three turns on MD7 and I was able to get the 2-1 victory. One more win and I'll get my first ever OCC division title. Actually, it'll be my first ever top three finish! Had some really bad luck and frustration over the first seven seasons with only one previous winning record, but the team has evolved so nicely and is so good that a blindfolded monkey with a learning disability and an arm tied behind his back could win with this team. Just need a victory against either KhD's or Lizards for the title!

Good job, Kaz. The rest of the season is a formality for you even if Boys could squeeze 2 wins, so grats on the div win.

I never doubted you (and bet on you winning before the season started). Your team is awesome good, and you're a great elf coach, you must have had quite a few nufflings along the way.

As for being safe, I still need to beat/draw Staffan myself, and I will find it more difficult than you I'm afraid. Maybe if I stop making crucial mistakes and my Apo pulls fingers from arse... I took three perms in the last two games and threw away 4 points. Finishing third would be great though.

I get to write two match reports this week, because I subbed for Borke in 5D. Temporarily possessing his Uwd team (Judge Mentals) I immediately made the administrative decision that going into a game against an 11 player Norse team they'll need an extra goblin, and wasted 40K of Borke's money purchasing Inspector Dimwit. I am a spendthrift. This resulted in no inducements to either side - I was at +20K, but no petty cash was thrown into the pot. I also had 14 players, so +3 player advantage.

In the pre-kick activities I lost FAME (despite having +1 FF), but won the coin toss. That was big, because I wanted to receive. Which I did, and unleashed the Blackle/CPOMB skaven blitzer. He is niggled, but he was also my best hitter, so I figured against AV7 norse with no bench, i must abuse him. The abuse started out slow, resulting in a series of stuns and one KO. I was, however, able to outflank the Norse team, and instead of passing, simply played a running game with one of the throwers (the one who happens to be Blodge). Eventually I was forced to score on turn 7/6 - stalling for a perfect turn 8 score proved impossible, as the screening had cost me a BHed goblin, a KOed goblin and a KOed troll up to that point. So I decided I might as well try something silly, and ran the Str 3 goblin (13/16 SPP) into the endzone. I then abused Cyanide, which I don't normally do, and ran my thrower with the ball INTO the endzone, where he handed off to the goblin before ending his move. The reason for that was animosity - on a failed check, the thrower would keep the ball and still score. That's technically BS, and I am a punk for doing it (and had to use a RR to get that done).

The Norse had 2 turns to equalize, and got a high kick, while also getting their only KO back. I got the troll back, and with a 3 player bench was still able to line up 11 players. The Norse then committed a series of tactical errors. First, they threw their LoS blocks but failed to break armor (that part was just dice, absolutely nothing wrong there). But they didn't move any of the players these blocks freed up into scoring range before throwing a pass with their thrower - so had the pass failed, it would have been bye bye scoring chance. To compound the mistake, the thrower's HMP WASN'T TURNED OFF. Brillianly, Nuffle came to the rescue - the ball lands next to the intended receiver, scatters TO him, and the receiver uses a team RR to make the catch. So now the ball is in the hands of a Blodge/SS runner. Finally, to end the turn, the runner with the ball moves into my half of the pitch completely unescorted. And that's literally the last move. So on my turn 8, I said "why thank you very much", and set up a 2d blitz against the runner with the blackle/POMB rat. The set-up required no rolls at all, but the blitz came up skull/skull... fortunately there was a RR left, and it fixed the block to a POW/skull. Three skulls, but it's the POW that counts, and the runner went BH after getting piled on to. So the half ended 1-0.

In the second half, it started raining, but that proved no obstacle to any of the ball handling that ensued. The Norse got the ball and started advancing it, but POMB started working for me, and by turn 12/11 there were only 7 Norse players left standing (another BH and two KOs). They then compounded their predicament by making a sideline cage, where they actually pushed a wrestle goblin INTO the cage, and into the exact position where he needs to be to attempt a surf. The ball carrier had block... so 70% of ball out on a -2d blitz. I spent my turn 12 making that -2d blitz a reality, then rolled BD/POW. The Norse chose BD (to avoid losing the player), and the ball spilled oob, from where it got thrown to the opposite side of the field (still in my half, but heavily to the left instead of the right sideline where it went out). After that, it was an exercise in running around, which cost the skaven lino an MNG but culminated in a defensive TD on turn 16/16. 2-0 final score.

I think Borke will be happy with this outcome. He gets a win, and his level 5 blitzer and Str3 goblin both get levels out of the deal. There will be an MNG rookie rat lino, but no SI or deaths otherwise. Money-wise it's a wash - I dumped 40K into an extra goblin, then rolled 3+1 for winnings, making it a zero-sum affair. I was aided heavily by good d6 rolls - I think all my luck that didn't materialize in the last two games finally manifested itself for Borke's benefit.

All three levels were normals as usual. I took Block on V'Thas and Guard Zexus, and Pass on Travis Two Tone. I'll likely mold V'Thas into more of a safety/in traffic ballcarrier with NoS next and then maybe Catch, while Travis will focus on a more pure throwing build perhaps. I'm glad Guard Zexus is a bit better protected now. Hopefully I can get him to 31spp to blodge him up before long, which will do wonders for his health.

Here's how my roster looks currently:
MD8 gives me possibly my toughest test yet in the current division leaders:
Cookie has 13 players for this game, leaving us even in manpower and tv. Jet's exactly what I want Shanez to be, but I can't roll a double for Mighty Blow. At least she won't be able to get a hit in on Shanez without a couple of assists. Midnight has been on a scoring spree since his second +mv roll and he seems to be used as more of a safety/catcher roll for now. 8mv means I'll have a difficult time getting away from him if he chooses to mark. And Fusion II is . . .well, a 5str runner. Even if I get the assists to hit him, he can just dump off. Bright side is he doesn't have block so I may be able to take him out of the game. I'll likely look to get my assassin in on him, it's a 43% chance to take him down even in a scrum with stab. That's decent odds.

Another thing to note is that other than the runner, I actually out-strength cookie and I have more guard than he does (three to his one). I could definitely use that to my advantage. I also have more protective skills, as four of his 13 have no defensive skills at all while I only have two players without, one of those an offense-only runner. He also only has two tacklers (one also a diving tackler) and I have five total. All in all I think this is a winnable game, but I'm going to have to play well and have a little bit of luck to pull it off.

Any suggestions or observations are welcome. My updated roster is at the beginning of the thread. If I win this one I'll tie him for the division lead (assuming Bill-BJJ loses; if he draws it would be a three-way tie).

Can't remember if I posted last wee, and too lazy to find out.

Week 7, lost 2-1 to the divisions pro elf team, with the wizard turning the ball over to him and ruining a perfectly good 2-1 grind that would have been on the cards.

This week, was fortunate to get a 1-1 draw with Be4ch. He played better and I got lucky second half. Outbashed and outplayed, but got a point, which may have put a dent in Be4ch's chances at the Division title, after mine ended last week.

Had an extremely tense game vs cookie6866 in 3a in MD8. Ended in a 1-1 draw after he scored an extremely fortunate equalizer on t16 and I set up incorrectly on the 1ttd attempt, putting my -mv busted blitzer as my ballcarrier instead of one of the others. Man, I really need an 8mv piece on the team. Ugh.

Anyway, the result is that I'll likely drop to 4th in the division after this MD as Viajero will leapfrog me with a win, when I could have been tied for first with the win. I still may go to T2, but it's looking less likely now. Frustrating as I had the game in my hands up until t15 and he managed to escape my net.

Hey Akirilus, I just noticed now that you also posted a match report here. Things are just getting better, it's actually quite fun to read about the exploits of my team after the fact. It sort of helps giving all the rats and goblins personality, something they have failed to develop in my hands so far :p

In any case, I am more than happy with the outcome. The win alone is amazing and mord than I have been able to achieve in most games this season, the levels are just icing on the cake. I'm very excited to check what they have rolled, as soon as I am back home. I'll report back with that!

The MNG might not even matter at all, as my MD8 opponent seems to be AWOL, so I might get an admin win. Then the last match is against Remthar's Flings of Terror, who have been decimating teams left, right and center this season. I'm still hoping to avoid relegation, but the main objective against the Flings will be survival - for which once again my Wrestle Goblins should be vital.

Thanks again for the stand-in, Aki, as well as for the report!

My win is far from certain as I will go into my MD8 with no bench... In these cases for AV7 is a bit of a lottery tbh.

At any rate, I have started to count the declared rerollers and sit outs in Div1 and 2 :D ... didnt check yesterday but a few days ago there were already 3-4 at least. I reckon that if we can count 8 at least, then all top 5 in our division should be in theory promoted (not counting teams coming back to div2 after a break)

You are welcome - I am glad I was able to help out :) . My main goal was to have a team left to hand back to you by the time I was done. Sorry I've been a bit MIA lately - I am steaming towards graduation, and my spare time has become scarce. I am curious what the goblin and the blitzer end up with for their skills - they are both solid players. And good luck to you and Remthar week 9 - that will be a fun match to watch/read about.
