Copied from my post on the team blog on the OCC boards:

MD1 against the Last Laughs went down last night. He took a Wizard and Babe with the 200k in inducements, as expected. LoopH0LE chose to kick and I stalled for 6 turns before screwing up my own drive with bad positioning. A turn 8 attempt to convert anyway failed when Shanez failed a dodge to blitz her way to the end zone.

The second half a fireball on my line missed all 3 players, and then I managed to steal the ball after a cage dive by Shanez got two POWs on a 2d uphill. Sadly I was losing players off the pitch at too high a rate, and two failed pickups in a row meant he was able to swarm it. Without the manpower to muscle him away, a scatter on the second of the failed pickups saw the ball clear the pile on the wrong side for me. He scooped it up and ran as far as he could before Shanez failed a leap to get to the ballcarrier. He walked in the winner on turn 16 and 6 players were not enough for a 1ttd attempt. Final 0-1.

After rolling 3/8 on KO rolls (not helpful when down players), we came out of this with only 7spp and no injuries other than a MNG on our kicker, thanks to the Apo fixing a Dead roll on Jerris (wrodge lino) on turn 13. Not exactly the start to the season I had planned, but it was a close match and could have gone either way towards the end. LoopH0LE is a good coach and certainly made things difficult for me. We vanity passed with the new lino and will pick up Wrestle on him most likely.

Loop used to be a BBT too, before his hiatus. Maybe he can be lured back?

Anyway, here's my text from the S29 thread, now moved to the correct thread:

The Rat Taqueria faced off against Ithtorukk's Khemri squad in match day 1 (3B). This was a rematch from match day 2 of last season in 4B. I had closed the TV gap a slight amount, so after buying a linerat I had just enough for a wizard, a wadering apothecary, a babe, and a induced linerat.

It turns out that Khemri are still slow and lack ball handling skills, so the Rat Taqueria ended with a 3-0 victory to start the season! I never even used either of my apothecaries!

Loophole and Ikoma added. I guess you weren't in the Season 29 list, but your back on the list now. It looks like I get Dakaman MD2, but we won't meet until MD9. Normally having more than one other BBtactic coach in the tier is bad for my overall record, but hopefully MD9 has some meaning to it!

matts Humans gave me a beating in MD1. Luckily nothing worse than MNG luckily.

The problem was I saw a chance to nab the ball early but got a snakeyes with all my guys in contact. Then using my wizard and several turns of spilling the ball but being unable to recover it left me in full contact too often and players just kept dropping as he ran in the opener on turn 2.

My 1 KO failed to wake up leaving me with 5 players for my 2 turn attempt which failed due to a missed dodge.

Second half I go for another 2 turn attempt, this time succeeding from a worse position with a 4+, 3+, 2+ dodges through Tackle TZs then a GFI to get in the endzone before my Throwers did a hand off + pass combo to equalise.

From then on I never had a chance to get near the ball and it was time to foul my own players off the pitch to safety. While doing that my Dauntless Catcher blitzed matts ST4/Block/Frenzy lineman and killed him and my Tree took out 2 players but matts scored to win 2-1.

If any of the first 3 or 4 turns had gone my way then the scoreline could have been very different. Next up Chubbersons Humans.

Shit, haven't been here for many moons. We lost MD1 against Vedholm and deservedly so. Failed to give the ball to Rand with Sure Hands after completely forgetting he had a stripper witch (oooh) and she dodged into my cage 2TZiirc, spilled ball, scramble I cant roll pows and my Ogre bone heads 8/14 times, one of the times he activated was skull both down, pretty funny. We were minus 6.5 they were plus 6.5 MNG blitzer and no levels. JRPearts Woodies next up with 200 inducements and 12 players to his 11 players. Attrition could well play apart, especially if the Dirty player has a day out, which he did last season killing an ag5 star catcher.

    Confirm, orc.
    Our MD1 was fair.
Couldn't depitch the darkiesbut they couldn't stop my offense, thus 1st half ended 1-0 in my favor.
In second half I decided to use the wizard to drop the lone BC in the backfield, but then couldn't adequately protect the ball retriever and the elves got the ball and scored quickly, leaving me 3 turns to play.
I tried to score quickly, even if that meant opening up and risk losing the ball, which eventually happened, luckily without consequences as after passing the ball the elves failed the last GFI to score.
I was lucky there, but overall I would say that the game was mostly balanced nufflewise.
I really lacked in the CAS department, who knows if it's due to nuffle or the lack of Piling-On (or most probably a serious lack in positioning skills).
Also I didn't foul much ... I must get better at that ...

    Klobbering Klownz 2 - 1 Red Roses

I need KOR on my thrower ASAP.

Unluckily I still am 4 SPPs short on him, so it's not gonna happen in the near future.

    But back to the match:

I elected to receive and started for a standard grind.

I had some problems to get the ball to Karandash, which I really didn't need as Ramtut's Dancers lacked Strip Ball.

But anyway, in the end I managed and proceded to advance my cage, sending out some elves in the process.

By turn 6 I was in Ramtut's siede in forces, able to stall comfortably.

A moment of fear ensued my attempt to feed the ball to Cha U Kao, which obviously failed leaving me just one turn to recover the ball without rerolls.

Luckily Grock didn't fail and it was 1-0

Ramtut failed the setup, probably not noticing that the sides of my los had Stand Firm, and no 1ttd ensued.

    1-0 at half time

At this point, since the 2 KOed elves refused to get up I had a considerable numerical advantage.

However, in order to pressure him and assist for a foul I left a hole opened, which Ramtut did exploit squeezing in a sidestep blodger with the ball escorted by some other elf.

I hadn't patrolled my backfield well enough (read, no tackle blitzer was in range) and so needed to blitz the BC with a black orc, which managed (thanks to a reroll) to spill the ball anyway: who needs tackle?

However I couldn't recover the ball and after multiple GFIs managed just to mark it with one blitzer.

The following turn the former elf BC just dodged out, picked up the ball, and scored without stalling, due to a massive presence of orcs in the surrounding area.

1-1 and still 5 turns to go.

Ball was back in my hands, and still the two KO refused to get up, so I still had a good numerical advantage.

However things got interesting when a blitz event came up.

I had set up a bit aggressive, not covering the backfield well enough and also putting my 2 takle blitzers close to the sideline.

At the moment that made sense, as they can reach centerfield more easily than Black Orcs, but I set them up too close to the sidelines, so that with a well executed blitz Ramtut managed to drop Grock pushing and mark him against the sideline, thus forcing me to take a double dodge (3+, 2+) to free him.

He also managed to get under the ball and catch it, so I already was smelling the defeat.

However, Grock managed the 2 dodges (spending a reroll in the process) and sent the BC directly out with a KO while the ball scattered in the hands of Karandash, which was assisting the blitz.

All good for the klownz thus, but I didn't forget to put myself into trouble in the next turn when, while repositioning a Black Orc, I passed through a tackle zone I hadn't seen.

Was lucky though and he stayed on his feet, allowing me to finish my turn and securing a good position.

With 3 turns still it was easy to stroll down the field, throwing out some elves in the process, until on turn 15 I tried once again to feed Cha U Kao, this time succeeding and he walked in the winner on turn 16.

This was a team that I feared, so I am super happy.

Now Cha U kao lacks only 1 SPP and then I will have my Piling On player, we'll see how it fares.

Shall I try to pass the ball at the start of the turn to get my last SPP? or is it better to wait for some cas?

The probelm with waiting is that against all these blodgers it is usually Bata or Grock who blitz ...

Second game was a pretty silly affair against Hombarus White Widow-Makers (Dark Elves) (I got a wizard as inducements)

First half I kicked and finally got a blitz (they usually only come when I start by receiving). I get up and threaten him on one side, he picks up the ball and passes down the other side, running deep with a witch but the pass stole a reroll so a double skull messes him up when he's supposed to free up some guards. A strip ball left it on the ground and I had some local superiority. He surfed my wight, but in a way that left the ball unguarded. Stripball ghoul picks it up, runs, passes and one turn later (and a dodge and a GFI as well) it's 1-0 down.

Second drive for Hombarus he blitzes the rookie too early with the dauntless witch, first block is just pushes and second one dauntless fails to be a 2D uphill block that skulls out. I get two markers on the still untouched ball, he clears away the tackle ghoul and his AG5 Surehander can ignore the other ghoul. But it's a fumble. Passer-to-be gets cleared out of the way and AG4 ghoul runs in 2-0.

Sweltering heat that set in at the second kickoff means the third drive sees me without POMB wight and AG4 ghoul (and a zombie), but three dark elf linos also take a rest, meaning they can only field ten to my eleven. Else maybe they'd have had more people in the backfield. A two-pronged assault with most of the team becomes a drawback as the wizard concusses (apo:BH) the AG5 ballcarrier and three ghouls are the only players nearby. One gets taken down and the other two marked, but some chainpushing means it's only a 3+ dodge (w/reroll) and a similar pickup (w/reroll) and a GFI (TRR already spent on another GFI) to score. Snake-eyes on the dodge puts a stop to that, and the dark elves manage a pickup, a handover, and then fumble another pass for the catchup TD. Instead the last turn sees four GFI to get the blitz to clear off the ballmarker, two more GFI to get a non-surehander ghoul to use the TRR to pick up the ball and then scatter the long pass. Onto a prone player, from where the ball bounces to the intended ghoul recipient, that snags the ball and manages the naked GFI to score 3-0 at half time.

Second half the dark elves set up mostly deep, I kill a lino on the LOS and then foul one, which upsets my opponent who finds this unsporting since I had a good lead. I agree and stop fouling, but he doesn't move any players so I slowly walk in the score. I could probably have stalled for a 4-0, but hey. The dark elves finally manage to string a bunch of dice together and get 4-1 which is where the game ends.

Yea, I did wonder why you tried again when the ball was safely in the hands of a 12 SPP blitzer who also could have used the SPP. (And would have been faster moving up the pitch if needed, which ended up being not necessary)

You know, I played him last season to a 2-2 draw where I was massively outskilled with 2 loners and my 2 best players MNG. He was quite vocal in his lack of satisfaction with this result. He doesn't seem to have the best of attitudes from what I've seen. Maybe a small sample size, but I suppose we'll see when I play him again in a few weeks.

He didn't spend too much time whining/complaining, but I can't recall him doing much else, so I'd agree on the poor attitude - or at least a poor loser.
But my game should definitely not be included in any sample size..

MD1 3-0 Loss. Vedholm whips us as Loial goes bone head 8/14. We got diced but not nuffled and made a fundamental error not handing off to sure hands. Got stripped, diced, not nuffled and V was too good.

MD 2 we get the dice against JRP's wood elves for a 2-1 reverse.

MD2 vs MeeBee's B(.)(.)by Trap. He gets 170 in inducements and takes a Wizard. We have no bench with our kicker out, but at least he has no bribes, though he does have 13 players.

We win the toss and choose to kick, placing the LOS offset to the right and the rest in a half-moon. Kick is deep center, and they get another reroll on the kickoff. My LoS is knocked down, and a gangfoul on Vivish Slon snaekeyes for a stun on him and ejects the offender. I reposition, Shanez blitzing down a rookie linewomen before I push a couple of players through to divide his team and threaten the ball. He retreats with the ball to his own end zone, with an escort. I try to kill some amazons but I'm not able to do much damage, though I do put a couple of players in ball-threatening positions. I can't get to the ball and turn 4 he finally manages to squeeze through and cage up, with 4 guard around the cage. He can't move it though, and turn 5 I get my first KO to get a 2 man advantage. The cage doesn't move much, and Shanez stuns one of the only two scoring threats, with the other sandwiched. Turn 7 I get a shot at the ballcarrier, with 2 guards next to him. Shanez leaps in for the 2d blitz and fails it despite a reroll, BHing herself. The cage still can't move though, and he fouls Tsanne with the ballcarrier to keep him from getting an assist. Vivish blitzes 1d, wrestling the ball out into two TZs, and G'Tav dodges in to pick it up, and 3 more dodges to get out, burning a RR in the process, then hands off to D'kan in a TZ, who then dodges out and makes the GFI to score. 1-0 Disciples. Elven BS at its finest.

The KO wakes up, and Shanez keeps sleeping, leaving us at 10vs11 for our offensive drive, and the Zons holding a Wizard still in the pocket. We manage to KO a linewoman to even the numbers, then push Lanys and 2 blitzers through a hole to act as scoring threats. Lany is immediately stunned on a blitz, though when she wakes up she'll be in scoring range. My receivers all get marked. Turn 11 I push Vivish up the field a bit, putting two more players deep as scoring threats and knocking down their markers. Turn 12 I pull the trigger, running up and throwing cross-field to G'tav, who is safe from any Amazon blitzes. Turn 12/12 the bolt comes in, spilling the ball from G'tav but not breaking armor. He's pressured the ball hard though, and it takes some work (and several made dodges) to get the ball back to J'axx and safe behind a screen near the end zone. Safe from the threat of the Wizard now, I decide to stall as long as possible before scoring. Thanks to a missed dodge ending in a stun, I'm able to do it until turn 16, when J'Axx scores our second. 2-0.

His one turner is unlikely, so I set up wide to attempt to dissuade a gangfoul on Vivish Slon. And despite all three linemen getting knocked down and Vivish gangfouled, he can't inflict an injury. Final 2-0. This was an extremely bloodless affair, with only one KO caused the entire game between both teams. Shanez inflicted her own BH, not too surprising with av6 and a niggle. But I'm happy with this result. I'm in 4th place after 2 games, despite a loss already, and only one game behind the division leaders. And no injuries to speak of. Not a bad result at all. J'Axx leveled and took leap on a normal, giving me one more threat in the form of a blodging 5agi leaper. Stahlburg's Nurgle next week, shudder.
