I've been doing some tweaking behind the scenes over this last week to make the site more secure and hopefully also faster. First stage was anti spammers which seems to have been a success and will save the moderators a lot of time. The other part was to switch over to SSL (secure sockets layer) using https rather than http. You should see a padlock somewhere in your browser (typically at the front of the address bar these days) now. Whilst not really necessary for a site like this, google have started a push for every site to use it. The extra protection certainly isn't overall a bad thing, though does have a minor impact on speed. It does mean passwords are passed over a secure connection now, though hopefully no one is reusing sensitive passwords on here in the first place! If I've broken anything, then please let me know!
