Blood Bowl 2020 Rulebook Leak

    So looks like some leaks of the new rulebook have appeared: https://imgur.com/a/X95RNmk

    I've not studied them too closely though it looks like a new passing stat has been given to every player and some player prices have changed.

    New rumours going around in the Facebook groups and on Reddit that appear to confirm (if the leak is genuine) the previously announced new edition that Cyanide were aiming Blood Bowl 3 to tie in with (but un-announced last year as GW had not approved info of the new rules).

    There appears to be a Projectile Vomit skill on the Goblin Team Trolls in one image.


    And I'm not sure what the photo of a human bodyguard would mean other than bringing back Blockers similar to Bretonnians.

    Injury table looks to have moved to D16 rather than the existing D66 which appears to reduce the likelihood of death (1 in 6 now 1 in 8?).

    Skill costs seem to now include a 10k price bracket for things that the team are naturally competent at.

    Been quite a few skill tweaks, all seem to be for the better. Merging Pass Block and Kick Off Return into one skill was a good idea. Accurate only working on quick and short passes with a new skill for longer passes.

    It feels like there have been a lot of changes to try and encourage passing into the game. I think it might help a little bit but until we've actually got all the rules I'm not sure it will make that much difference.

    Skill changes appear to include Pro becoming 3+ as well as a Running Pass and Iron Hard Skin (anti claw) and a bizarrely titled Fumblerooskie.

    Some interesting stuff there.
    What does a D16 look like (Casualty table). I have never seen one.
    Niggles only add to the casualty table and not to the injury table.
    Skaven throwers pass on 2+ and gutters on 4+ so no more saving TV by not taking a thrower.
    Passing differentiates between a natural 1 and a modified 1.
    Safe Throw is spit into 2 skills. 1 to stop a fumble and 1 to reroll interceptions.
    Different levels of loner. Trolls are 3+ , Bugman star is 5+.
    More importantly halflings get a passer with dodge , fend , stunty and pass access.

    Every Blood Bowl dice set that's been released since the 2016 edition has some with a D16, though I've owned at least one for years before that too.

    So I've done some quick calculations for passing based on the Skaven Thrower stats revealed.

    Whether this will apply to all AG3 Throwers is yet to be seen. It's also worth noting that Accuracy now only affects Quick & Short Pass and you need the new skill "Cannoneer" to add a modifier to Long Pass & Long Bomb.

    My gut feeling is that this will emphasise the specialist role of Throwers as most other positions have not translated from AG3 to PA 2+, for example the Gutter Runner is PA 4+, which is significantly worse, emphasising their roll as Runner/Receiver and making them less generalist.

    What this means for Hand Offs yet is unknown.

    Big changes on the Injury Table, moving from "D68" (a D6+D8) to D16:

    Less likely to Die, but over 3 times more likely to get Niggled.

    Edit: As per Discord discussion, however Niggling Injuries no longer affect how likely you are to get injured, but affect the severity of the injury instead.

    I would also think that non thrower elves will take a a bit of a hit, also note that Mummies and Zombies don't have a figure for this stat and can't pass the ball which leads me to believe they will only be able to do a hand off if they catch a loose ball.

    I quite like the injury changes. I also saw elsewhere that MB and claw no longer stack.

    Yeah, the rule for claw now states "Opposing players are injured on an unmodified 8+ roll regardless of the opponents armour" so now Claw/MB Stacking. So what happens if I take Claw and MB? Can I choose which skill I want to use to break armour?

    Mighty Blow isn't revealed in detail, only shown as a "+1" on the stats line for some of the Big Guys, so we don't know yet sadly.

    I've seen some speculate that Mighty Blow itself has levels now.

    Dirty Player also has a +1 next to it.
    I want to be able to take it multiple times.

    Every time the skelly levels he gets dirty player. Level 4 skelly adds 3 to injury or armour.

    I havent looked at the leaks at all yet, but a friend in a group chat said that you will be able to Jump over prone/stunned players as a regular action. If so that seems like it would completely change the way the game works, especially when combined with the passing changes.
