Make him be the 2nd, let other die as a captain and then Interzeptid, being a hero, stands up for his team and leads them all the way to Altdwarf where he beats the reigning champs, Wardens.

Yep only lost one rat, 5spp and I chose not to apo. Gob development is very slow but I wouldn’t swap for the 5 great rats.

Overall I’ve had significantly positive dice. Maybe nuffle is enjoying the blog and wants to give them a good story? He is punishing my other teams though!

    Blunderworld

    Part 12

Averland MD1 The Wes Anderson Fan Club 2-1 Blunderworld

    “AAAAARGH!!!”

“Dat’s alright Bozz. We iz goblinz. Bastardz iz always kickin’ us, but we iz barncin’ back Bozz.”

“Never speak of this game again, Rekt. Never.”

As quickly as they had rushed skywards after the team’s first season exploits, Da Bozz’s ambitions had been brought crashing to earth by the first game of the new season. One of last season’s strongest opponents, the fearsome lizardmen of coach Comfort Eagle, had clearly been working on their game and proved much too strong for the ragtag assortment of underworld denizens. The only Blunderworld staff working on their game this time round had been the apothecary.

At least Da Bozz had anticipated the battering his team would take by investing in two squads of Bloodweiser Babes to rouse any players too punch drunk from the attention of Comfort Eagle’s saurus (at the risk of them retaking the field properly drunk). The teams lined up at the CJBlackburn Memorial Ogre Graveyard (which buried its very first ogre on the last day of last season!). As tended to be the case with Blunderworld when things went seriously wrong, they went seriously wrong right from the kick off.

Needing his ferocious clawed stormvermin to start whittling down the enemy numbers, Da Bozz watched in despair as the lizardmen leapt into action with a blitz, ruining his plans and placing the team in dire trouble right from the start. 2nd Miztake went down stunned and the saurus man marked most of Blunderworld’s players.

Interzeptid nevertheless grabbed the ball, although Dubskullz began a long sequence of gazing around foolishly (Da Bozz later had to suspect he had been drugged) and DedApoDed, who the team were relying on for skink removals, seriously injured himself trying to dodge away from his saurus attendant and would miss the next game. Hopelessly wrong footed, the team looked on with horror as Rekt was badly hurt by a skink block and Interzeptid found himself marked by the Kroxigor and a diving tackle skink.

Interzeptid nevertheless managed to evade his reptilian bodyguards but there was nowhere safe to move the ball now. Snake Eyez’ blocks continued to be wholly ineffective. Sent Orf II ko’d himself on a failed dodge. It was looking grim.

Interzeptid then went down and the lizardmen surrounded the ball, which was seized by wonder skink Mr. Fox. There was still life left in the underworld team though as Snake Eyez finally ko’d a saurus (Bill Murray) and Mizplay dodged away from the saurus to knock down Mr. Fox, with Troll Brekfazt II marking the loose ball. At this point Dubskullz the troll had still not moved from the line of scrimmage, appearing to chew a clump of grass thoughtfully.

Interzeptid was the next player to leave the pitch badly hurt, accompanied by Los Fodda. But then Troll Brekfazt II stayed on his feet and Bottle Rocket the skink failed to collect the ball, leaving the tiniest of openings. Mizplay kept the heroics going, dodging into Mr. Fox’s tackle zones to collect the ball and back out again. Troll Brekfazt II managed to ruin the effect however, by failing his own straight forward dodge.

Mizplay was inevitably smashed to the ground, the loose ball caught by skink Zero. Mizplay again recovered the ball by blitzing Zero! But again, the intrepid skaven thrower received no assistance from his colleagues and was left highly vulnerable next to his own endzone and was duly ko’d along with Troll Brekfazt II, to leave Blunderworld with 7 of their starting line up off the pitch after only 5 turns, four of whom were injured and would not be returning.

Snake Eyez’ blocks continued to be ineffective and, in total control, coach Comfort Eagle directed and achieved a saurus touchdown. This did leave Blunderworld time to reply before half time, however, and the lizrdmen were duly punished. Receiving the touchback, 2nd Miztake sprinted into space down the right, screened by goblins. Even Dubskullz was encouraged, ko’ing the krox Moonrise Kingdom (although both lizardmen kos disappointingly recovered at the first opportunity).

The lizardmen played safe and screened in front of 2nd Miztake, managing to badly hurt Sent Orf II along the way. But they had counted without the dodging prowess of goblins, Tripwya II receiving the hand off and racing through to equalise the scores. Half time achieved and at least it could not really get worse! Could it???

The lizards then enjoyed a leisurely procession, with Mr. Fox in possession and Snake Eyez’ blitzes achieving nothing. Wunin Nyn was the next goblin to injure himself failing a simple dodge. With Trol Brekfazt II then also ko’d the underworld team began to lose heart and think of self-preservation. However, coach Comfort Eagle again went for an early saurus touchdown, opening a tiny chance.

Mizplay seized the kick off near the half way line behind a screen and then forward into a cage on the extreme left. The lizard men managed a great congestion in front on the cage, but Mizplay’s dodging prowess was not to be underestimated. Sadly, Snake Eyez capped a terrible game by needing two attempts to blitz an interfering saurus, leaving Mizplay without the second attempt he needed to penetrate the screen – although he did very correctly collect the MVP award.

    gg and wp @comfort_eagle !

I was pretty annoyed about this one, but then I must remember the nuffling was the other way round last season and also, after you played extremely well against @Sataric I guess we have to admit that Averland may be righteously dominated by one coach this season, and it won't be the guy who decided to go with underworld as his team choice ...

I'm just glad the injuries weren't permanent otherwise I'd feel like a real jerk... GG coach - but when nuffle decides to take sides, there's very little anyone can do. We're even now - one a piece; due for a rematch in tier 2 =)

Honestly, you and @Sataric's teams were the ones I was most worried about, and I'm glad to have survived them (but not before the zons managed to retire/kill 2 DT skinks!!). And with so much fire power under your belt, I suspect your season will come together decently soon enough. GL further @Orielensis - no other team is likely to give me as many sleepless nights in anticipation. And the blog is AWESOME - worth the price of admission alone.

    Part 13

Averland MD2 Blunderworld 2-0 Hopak Hoppers

    “Muhahaha!”

The daemon’s laughter grated like knives down his spine but Da Bozz remained fixated on the crystal, unable to look away.

“Much carnage, yessss, much chaossss, you have created for almighty Nuffle’s pleasure little goblin. But always he will demand a price.”

“But the price was to be the blood and bones of our opponents!”

“For the most part, perhaps. But our master is fickle. Variety entertains mighty Nuffle. As much success as he may grant you, always there will be reverses when the whim takes him. And there are others of his servants, who may enjoy Nuffle’s favour or others among the gods of chaos.”

Da Bozz bowed his head in acknowledgement and left to plan the defeat of those bouncing nightmares, Coach @Manticoran ’s Hopak Hoppers.

The game started badly, with the Kislev team reacting like lightning to Blunderworld’s offensive set up. Then Snake Eyez, perhaps unnerved by the absence of his twin blitzer DedApoDed, made a mess of his opening blitz before ko’ing opposing blitzer Rostov at the second attempt. However, the Hoppers’ line of scrimmage then went down too and Interzeptid seized the ball, running over to the left flank.

The Hoppers began as aggressively and as successfully as they had last season, star sacking catcher Stavrogin smashing Interzeptid to the floor stunned despite the assistance of 2nd Miztake. The Hoppers’ other star was not so blessed, however, as agility beyond that even of an elf was not enough to prevent catcher Verkhovensky knocking himself out after being tripped by the deftly deployed boot of Los Fodda.

After Turnova had wrestled his opponent to the floor, Snake Eyez took revenge on Stavrogin, whose heroics the previous turn were rewarded with a trip to the infirmary. Mizplay dodged back to recover the ball but despite and early numbers advantage the underworld team were far from safe in possession, with Kislev players surrounding the Blunderworld cage.

Interzeptid’s blitz succeeded only at the second attempt but then snake Eyez continued his rampage, ko’ing the mighty bear Kutuzov. And still the ball was far from safe! Troll Brekfazt II became the first Blunderworld player to leave the pitch (unconscious) and was quickly joined by Turnova. With both teams losing players fast, Mizplay decided to dash forwards, screened by Interzeptid, Dubskullz and Snake Eyez.

This desperate move was rescued only by lineman Rostov failing the gfi needed to hit Mizplay even after two attempts. The two throwers ran clear, beyond the reach of the Kislev defenders. A terrible disaster still lay in wait though as Snake Eyez was hit by a mighty blow from blitzer Karamazov and hit the turf stone cold dead – only for the dark and warpstone fuelled arts of the team apothecary to revive him!

Mizplay had no real choice but to score early and a tough defence looked in prospect. Both underworld players remained fast asleep, whilst on the Kislev bear stayed down for their opponents. Meanwhile, the sweltering heat proved too much for Dubskullz, Loss Fodda, deadly Karamazov and lineman Dolohov, so the teams line up 8 attackers against 9 defenders.

The goblins on the line of scrimmage went down but escaped with merely a stun for Sent Orf II. The Kislev team rushed men forwards but then suffered more bad luck. Needing a second attempt to collect the ball, catcher Verkhovensky was too distracted and tripped trying for an extra burst of speed. Seizing their chance, Snake Eyez shoved lineman Kuragin aside and Mizplay put on his own burst of speed to seize the ball and rush into a cage.

With the skaven thrower assisted by his comrades, the leaping blitz from Kuragin could not take him down. He was then knocked out cold by Snake Eyez for his efforts. With not enough time left to score, misplay indulged in passing practice with Interzeptid and Wunin Nyn was ko’d just before half time. Turnova and Kutuzov the bear stayed sound asleep, along with agile catcher Verkhovensky, but the heat only afflicted Los Fodda, leaving 11 Blunderworld players to line up against 9 Hoppers.

This was immediately evened up as Wunin Nyn was ko’d again and Tripwya II badly hurt. Blunderworld formed a screen across the centre. The Hoppers chose to break down their left, catcher Denisov II in possession. He was then struck down by Da Bozz’s secret weapon for this match up, the warp lightning of apprentice Seer Whizcheez stunning him. Snake Eyez could only shove lineman Kuragin aside, but he and an obedient Dubskullz marked the ball.

Before the Hoppers could attempt recovery, Kuragin squandered his recent fortune at not being flattened by Snake Eyez, with a literally suicidal block on Mizplay, although the Kislev medic proved the equal of his underworld opposite number and saved the lineman. Snake Eyez now ko’d Dolohov and Mizplay grabbed the ball, moving it into a cage, which advanced slowly towards half way.

Karamazov did eventually succeed in stunning Mizplay to free the ball, and Rekt had been injured by a block leaving both sides under manned. Interzeptid’s two heads let him weave a path and hand off to Snake Eyez just over half way. Karamazov again managed to take down the skaven ball carrier, but Los Fodda recovered it and sprinted clear.

Assisted by a clearing blitz from Snake Eyez, the little goblin dodged away from Denisov to score with the final action of the game.

After that opening, I was afraid Snake Eyez would die for real in the end. Glad he didn't!

    Part 14

    Averland MD3 Blunderworld 1-1 Claw & Order

Da Bozz came through the doorway and felt the slight pressure against his shin. The axe blade hummed through the air, cleaving the space immediately above the goblin. With a low rumbling, of puzzlement rather than complaint, Dubskullz the troll, following close on his master’s heels as usual, plucked the axe from his midriff. Turning in astonishment, Da Bozz observed the shallow wound in the troll’s tough hide already closing.

Dubskullz held the axe between thumb and forefinger. It was attached to the wall by a crude, spring loaded lever mechanism. Da Bozz was still inspecting the rapidly closing wound. He felt cautiously at the top of his head. Untouched. His finger traced the wound. Too high for a goblin but head height for a skaven. Or neck height for a large skaven.

    “Rekt! Tripwya II!”

The two goblins shuffled into the room.

    “Err, yes Bozz?”

“Someone put a bounty out on Snake Eyez and DedApoDed, didn’t dey?”

“Amazin’ Bozz! We wuz jus’ comin’ ta tell ya! How did youz know already?”

“It jus’ came to me now. And I was thinkin’.”

    “You iz always thinkin’ Bozz.”

Rekt did not sound like he approved of this particularly.

“I was thinkin’ dat it’s a good job there are no goblins around here stoopid enough to try to collect bounties on their own team mates.”

The two goblins exchanged glances redolent with guilt before attempting to look innocent once again.

“Ha! Right Bozz! Ain’t no one that stoopid Bozz! Though they iz kinda scary them big rats. Hurr hurr.”

“That’s what I thought. And it’s a good job. Dubskullz is hungry today.”

Da Bozz was afraid that this week it would be as the daemon had warned him. The fearsome chaos team of Coach @Crowdog09 would shy away from no foul sacrifice to appease their evil masters. Would the hard won favour of Nuffle count for little in this match? Da Bozz decided to invest in two squads of Bloodweiser babes to keep his players cheerful and in the game.

Claw & Order won the toss and decided to defend. Blunderworld’s line of scrimmage could do no more than stun two of their opponents but Interzeptid retrieved the ball successfully. Beastman Pygor then unwisely drew attention to himself by smashing Rekt to the floor. Unaware that his diminutive colleague had so recently tried to behead him, Snake Eyez decided this expert tackler was too much of a threat to his team mates and lacerated him so badly with his fearsome claws it would take another match for Pygor to return to action.

The Blunderworld cage moved over to the left flank. The minotaur stayed on the floor roaring uselessly but chaos warrior Lenny Briscow was partially revenged on Snake Eyez, punching him unconscious. Taking over blitzing duties from his brother, DedApoDed stunned an interposing chaos warrior, allowing the whole underworld cage to move forwards down their left. Rekt was ko’d by a mighty blow from charging goat Frank Bullumbo while Dubskullz continued to keep the minotaur on the floor.

Two members of the Blunderworld cage were then stunned by the chaos team’s brutal blocking, leaving Interzeptid, literally backed into a corner, with no choice but to make sure of the early score. Both ko’d underworld players were revived by the Bloodweiser babes and things were looking good as the initial chaos assault removed no one from the pitch before Snake Eyez stunned the minotaur in retaliation.

Claw & Order pushed down their right flank, the same side of the pitch their opponents had pressed earlier in the game. DedApoDed injured Lenny Briscow, again severely enough that he would require another week to recover. The chaos attack was frustrated by a dense screen of underworld players. Coach Crowdog ordered the focus of the attack shifted to the left flank but the two beastmen still able to reach the endzone before the clock ran down were both taken out, along with Turnova who was badly hurt by Frank Bullumbo’s horns.

In the second half beastman Olivia Venison recovered the ball and Blunderworld again screened carefully. Chaos warrior Martin Rigged injured the other skaven lineman 2nd Miztake, but progress for the chaos attack remained slow, even when Martin continued his rampage, badly hurting Tripwya II.

Coach Crowdog had enough of being bullied by Snake Eyez and shifted his entire attack backwards and over to the right, surrounding the skaven blitzer so that Frank Bullumbo could injure him with a vicious strike, saved only by the intervention of the team apothecary. Dubskullz chose this moment to ponder the mysteries of philosophy and Mizplay to stun himself failing a dodge, leaving the underworld defence threadbare in the extreme.

As the chaos cage pushed through the centre, their minotaur finally scented blood, and poor Rekt his victim was carried to the infirmary. Interzeptid now failed a dodge and Sent Orf II was the mino’s next victim, smashed unconscious to the floor. There was simply no one left to oppose the chaos advance, especially when Frank Bullumbo then claimed Los Fodda as yet another badly hurt victim.

Interzeptid crowned a disastrous second half by injuring himself with a desperate attempt to dive into the Claw & Order cage and would not return for two weeks. But could an aerial goblin rescue victory? The attempt began badly as DedApoDed required a second attempt not to take himself out blocking Hank Shredder. An unexpectedly vicious swipe from Troll Brekfazt II then threatened to end the career of Ray Colt before another successful intervention by the apo.

Mizplay handed off the ball to Wunin Nyn … who then narrowly avoided being eaten by Dubskullz and left the pitch badly hurt, bringing the game to an end!

    Part 15

Averland MD4 Blunderworld 2-1 Ebonfur Eviscerators

Another match against a team which had terrorised Blunderworld last season. Da Bozz’s only comfort was that the violent Amazonian ladies of Coach @Sataric had suffered a brutal start to the season, losing several key players. Even worse, the network of Clan Eshin informants with whom the goblin mastermind made sure every away stadium crowd was infiltrated had quickly identified that the Eviscerators had secured a very large crowd of friendly supporters for this game.

The game began with the amazons on the attack. Da Bozz rubbed his eyes with disbelief as no goblins left the pitch after the opening round of blocks, then sighed with reassurance that he was in fact not dreaming when a prone Dubskullz refused to stand and Rekt was blasted into the infirmary by a blitz from dangerwoman Xu. That was more like it.

With the ball still only part way to the half way line following a deep kick, the remaining amazons surrounded and stunned Dubskullz with an illegal stomp. DedApoDed could again only shove his target back and the amazons advanced smoothly, Dolores the thrower running the ball into a cage in the underworld half. Snake Eyez then finally secured a removal for Blunderworld when the referee spotted a foul by Sherry (which stunned the skaven blitzer) and ejected her!

The underworld team formed a screen in front of the amazon cage. As the Eviscerators pushed forwards, DedApoDed finally clawed linewoman Naomi off the pitch injured, leaving 3rd Miztake to mark the ball carrier. Alarmed at the sudden intense pressure on their cage, Dolores handed of to linewoman Natasha, who ran in to score with a double burst of speed.

With only a quarter of the game elapsed, Blunderworld lined up to attack. DedApoDed continued his inconclusive shoving contest with Xu. Dubskullz stunned his opponent Fiona while Mizplay grabbed the ball. With Dolores managing to punch Mizklik unconscious, the amazons formed a defensive screen.

DedApoDed knocked Tanya to the ground, creating the space for a committed push down the Blunderworld left flank. Coach Sataric ordered his players to rush across and double screen the underworld team’s route down the left. Utilising the speed of their skaven players, Blunderworld’s cage shifted just right of centre, with the manoeuvre being somewhat spoiled by a career ending failed dodge by Troll Brekfazt II.

The relentless Xu smashed Turnova to the floor unconscious and marked Mizplay, but the Eviscerators could not complete their screen as a failed dodge by Samantha left her colleagues wrong footed. DedApoDed hurled Natasha from Mizplay’s path, allowing the two headed skaven thrower to sprint in for the equaliser on the stroke of half time.

Turnova recovered for the second half but Mizklik stayed down, leaving Blunderworld with 10 players to the Eviscerators’ nine. Wunin Nyn was merely stunned by a rock launched from the crowd, whilst DedApoDed finally knocked out Xu with a rushing attack, leaving his goblin colleagues breathing sighs of relief. Mizplay collected the ball without incident deep in the underworld half.

Blunderworld formed a cage on the half way line, again favouring their left flank for the attack. Dolores thrust Tripwya II back and, having opened the cage, marked Mizplay. The combined efforts of Mizplay, DedApoDed and Turnova could only shove her clear and the cage stayed where it was. Then nuffle lent a hand. Blitzer Nadia launched herself at Turnova by was left prone on the ground even at the second attempt, leaving the Eviscerators’ defence unprepared.

Dubskullz obediently shambled forwards as the Blunderworld cage bypassed the static amazon defenders in the centre. A block from Samantha ko’d 3rd Miztake and then Snake Eyez too left the field unconscious under the assault of blitzer Amoria. Running short of players, Mizplay directed the cage left again.

Amoria continued her heroics, chopping down Dubskullz, but Natasha could not take down Mizplay. Blunderworld took the risk of reforming their cage slightly deeper rather than scoring early. The underworld attack looked in trouble when Tanya ko’d Dubskullz but DedApoDed again blitzed a hole, Mizplay and his attendants rushing clear of the defenders on the right flank, deep in the Eviscerators’ half. The amazons were not able to reform their defence and Mizplay gratefully scored his second of the game.

The teams reformed with only precious seconds remaining. Dolores impressively caught the kick and completed a pass but the amazon team lacked the pace to equalise the scores before the whistle blew to end the match.

Four games into the season and Da Bozz was pleased. The greatest threats to the health of his players, the lizardmen of Coach Comfort Eagle and the more seasoned chaos team of Coach Crowdog had been negotiated, albeit not very successfully, whilst the team had secured wins in their other two games to place them in a competitive position. Could glory and a daunting task in tier 2 await? Find out, in the next thrilling episodes of … BLUNDERWORLD!!!

    Part 16

Averland MD5 Blunderworld 2-1 Horn Starz

“Ready-ready Bozz to kill quick-dead manthings!”

“I am so glad Snake Eyez. But we don’t play Withnail’s crew until week 8.”

“No Bozz! Hear-hear we did about bounty-treasure. Must win-win to hunt even more vampires in Reikland-Nordland!”

“It may have escaped your attention, but we are already trying to win every game!”

    “Not only kill-kill?”

Da Bozz considered the giant skaven blitzer’s look of innocent confusion.

“Ah, that’s alright Snake Eyez. You and your brother look after the killing part and the others will do the rest.”

It was time to host another team devoted to the gods of carnage and mayhem, the Horn Starz of Coach @Mynimo1. The underworld team won the toss and elected to attack first. Home advantage told immediately as the home crowd, even more violent and disreputable than a typical blood bowl audience, fired an enormous rock onto the pitch which left beastman Tom Wanks with a permanent niggling injury (although it also rescued him from being blocked on the line of scrimmage by Snake Eyez, so not all bad perhaps?!).

More unusual events then ensued as Interzeptid, perfectly positioned, failed to live up to his name by not catching the kick, while DedApoDed needed a second attempt not to take himself down with the opening block of the game! Interzeptid grabbed the ball from where he had spilled it and came forward behind a wide screen.

The chaos team rushed over to their right, so Blunderworld took the opportunity to advance down the opposite sideline. The Horn Starz rushed back, gathering centrally but unable to impede Interzeptid’s advance. Snake Eyez finally downed an opponent with his blitz, stunning a chaos warrior, who was quickly revenged when the Horn Starz own clawed warrior stunned DedApoDed who was then ko’d by a foul as the referee looked the other way.

The cage moved central, on the edge of the chaos endzone, as the underworld team tried to stall out the half. Interzeptid succeeded in handing off to 3rd Miztake at the second attempt. However, the home crowd was then silenced and the Blunderworld players looked on in disbelief as the claws of Lance Thruster broke the jaw of Dubskullz, sending him to the apothecary for two weeks.

Blunderworld moved back to their right, huddling in the corner. Snake Eyez continued a massively ineffective half of shoving beastmen, the only removal having been achieved by the rock from the crowd. Mizplay, like DedApoDed, survived being smashed to the floor but was then rendered unconscious by a sneaky boot.

However, the chaos team could not penetrate the underworld cage and 3rd Miztake ran in the touchdown just before half time. As usual, the goblins got to line up for sacrifice on the line of scrimmage. In this case the sacrifice was almost literal, since the crowd again decided to address Snake Eyez’ abysmal performance by hurling another rock. This time, beastman Throbbin Hood III was ko’d. Amazingly, the goblins survived the chaos team’s enraged assault.

The second half began with 9 Horn Starz facing 10 from Blunderworld, as Mizplay and Throbbin remained unconscious. Drama then ensued as the underworld team leapt out of the traps with a blitz. Snake Eyez managed his 7th push from 9 attempts as his team flooded forward down their right flank. The Horn Starz agile beastman Clint Orris II grabbed the ball and threw it to Rod Longstaff, who ran to the other side of the pitch and handed off to Buck Nekkid.

With this seemless play, the chaos team had recovered and were away and clear. However, Snake Eyez finally managed to ko a beastman before DedApoDed joined the party, busting Buster Good good. The remaining underworld players rushed back towards the ball carrier, the intrepid (or suicidal?) Mizklik marking the ball. There was no stopping the chaos equalizer though.

There was a great wailing and gnashing of teeth from the chaos players as Dirk Diggler was stunned by a third rock! With most of the half still to play, Interzeptid grabbed the ball while a screen of goblins ran forwards. The Horn Starz defence clustered centrally, allowing Blunderworld to sprint down their right flank once again. All except Tripwya II who sadly killed himself attempting a dodge, that is.

The crowd rose to their feet as one as Snake Eyez finally injured an opponent! Equally impressive, 3rd Miztake ran across field to the left flank close to the chaos endzone and received a pass from Interzeptid behind a screen of team mates. This left Snake Eyez exposed to the attentions of Mr Thruster. Yet again, the skaven survived only to be badly hurt by an enormous gang foul which the referee still failed to spot.

The chaos team belatedly rushed back to menace the underworld attackers. 3rd Miztake and his cage headed for the corner. The Horn Starz could not force their way in and the skaven lineman scored the winner with the final action of the game.

    Part 18

Averland MD7 Blunderworld 2-1 Ogre and Ogre Again

Unable to persuade Coach @jrpeart ’s ogre team to revisit the scene of the death of their team mate and a long line of their illustrious but unfortunate ancestors, Blunderworld travelled to their giant opponents’ stadium.

As always, the team’s goblins gleefully anticipated their one chance to squish someone smaller than them. Eager to get going, the underworld team snapped into action and Dubskullz, confused and alarmed at confronting opponents his own size, slammed a right cross that left Dagg Reaver unconscious, whilst Rekt looked on in horrified bewilderment as Turnova pushed ogre Karg Silent right in front of him where he stunned the hapless goblin with a swipe of his massive hand.

Interzeptid, with the ball, moved the Blunderworld attack to their right flank. The ogres shifting their defensive screen across to match. Seeking to outmanoeuvre their lumbering opponents, the underworld team raced across to the left, still just inside their own half. The ogre team’s most skilled blitzer Rught Head-Splitter meanwhile scored first blood, sending Mizklik to the infirmary, while a brutal stomp from a gang of gnoblars left DedApoDed stunned on the floor on the wrong side of the pitch.

Blunderworld now made a thrust down their left. Karg Silent managed to blitz Snake Eyez, with his unnatural power deemed the chief threat by Coach JRPeart, but could only shove the skaven blitzer aside. DedApoDed was again stunned by foul play but this time the ref was smart to the gnoblar’s antics and sent off the offender. As usual, the mistreatment of his brother enraged Snake Eyez, who ripped viciously as speedy ogre Karg Silent, leaving him in need of the apothecary’s attentions before he would be able to resume the field.

Interzeptid ordered his attendant teammates on a daring thrust through the ogre line, forward and back to the right flank, screened from the three remaining ogres. The deadly Rught stayed ahead of Snake Eyez, badly hurting 3rd Miztake with a brutal charge. Heedless of his panting team mates rolling their eyes, Interzeptid ordered the attack to sweep back to the underworld left once again. Dagg Butcher attempted to pin the skaven thrower, shoving Rekt aside to burst into the cage.

DedApoDed was able to ko his attendant gnoblar, however, leaving Interzeptid free to run in the touchdown. Blunderworld kicked off to their opponents with little time remaining. Karg Silent was still too groggy from treatment to knock Troll Brekfazt III down even at the second attempt and Karg Man-Eater suffered even worse luck against Dubskullz, as the troll’s superior blocking experience sent the ogre off the pitch badly hurt before Ogre and Ogre Again had even retrieved the ball.

Blunderworld formed a deep screen to try to prevent a thrown snotling from equalising before half time. But miracles do happen in blood bowl! As Da Bozz watched in disbelief, Rught Head-Splitter ko’d Dubskullz before heroic gnoblar Squik Quarterpounder received a handoff deep behind his own lines and was hurled all the way into range by Dagg Butcher for the touchdown!

Blunderworld hearts sank further when Dagg Reaver revived but Dubskullz stayed down. The underworld team kicked deep and were encouraged to lose only Wunin Nyn on the line of scrimmage. Speedy gnoblar Gkobat the Screamer scooped up the ball at the second attempt. The ogres moved the ball into a secure cage near halfway, Rught continuing his onslaught by removing Los Fodda, who would miss next week’s game convalescing.

The fightback began with Fumbul uppercutting the scoring hero Squik into unconsciousness. Gkobat ran the ball over to the ogre’s left flank with all of his team mates in support, but Karg Silent failed to understand what was required of him as his coach frantically gestured at him to blitz Turnova. DedApoDed squished another gnoblar as Blunderworld screened the ogre attack, Fumbul being sent off for a particularly incompetent foul on a gnoblar.

Dagg Reaver then attempted to repeat his spectacular scoring throw but Gkobat could not land even after trying twice and dropped the ball behind enemy lines. Snake Eyez showed exactly why the ogres had feared him, badly hurting Karg Silent for the second time in the match and Interzeptid seized the loose ball.

Rught attempted to hurl a gnoblar into the underworld cage but the unfortunate gnoblar missile was ko’d on impact. Interzeptid moved the ball left as the ogre defence became more chaotic, Dagg Reaver this time sending himself prone attempting to block Mizplay. DedApoDed squished another gnoblar and the Blunderworld offence rolled forwards.

Hurled in front of the Blunderworld screen, rowdy gnoblar Turborgz could only shove Interzeptid back with the odds against him. DedApoDed continued injuring a gnoblar a turn and Blunderworld seemed unstoppable, with yet another gnoblar missile injuring himself with an unsuccessful landing. Interzeptid scored his second touchdown and the match was won.

It had seen the best touchdown ever scored in a Blunderworld game – unfortunately by their opponents!

    Blunderworld

    Part 19

Averland MD8 Withnail and Sons 0-0 Blunderworld

Snake Eyez and DedApoDed could hardly contain their excitement.

“Get to try-practice hunt-killing vamps Bozz!”

“Count Regor’s bounty-treasure will be ours!”

“Don’t get ahead of yourselves ya bloodthirsty gitz! We gotz to get outta Averland first boyz.”

Blunderworld were again away from the questionable comforts of the CJBlackburn Memorial Ogre Graveyard. Coach @TravelScrabble ’s vampire team would prove a tough challenge and, having won the toss, opted to deploy their fearsome defensive tactics first. DedApoDed was still distracted by thoughts of becoming a successful bounty hunter and needed two attempts at tackling his opponent on the line of scrimmage, but Snake Eyez, Mizplay and Dubskullz were more on point, stunning three thralls.

Wunin Nyn bravely survived being knocked down by deadly vampire blitzer Uncle Monty as Withnail and Sons consolidated in the centre, leaving the channels open. Having done his homework on Coach TravelScrabble’s playbook, Da Bozz directed his boyz to form a double screen to protect Interzeptid as the skaven thrower carried the ball down the underworld left flank.

The vampire defence shifted across to block Blunderworld’s advance, Uncle Monty requiring two goes at the blitz but eventually koing Mizklik. Feeling a little claustrophobic at being suddenly boxed in, Snake Eyez threw himself at poor thrall Chateau Lafitte in a frenzied rush, sending the hapless thrall to an early grave. The underworld attack retreated centrally into their own half in the giant blitzer’s wake.

Withnail and Sons swung back to mirror their opponents, Monty koing another goblin as Troll Brekfazt III left the field. Not to be outdone, Snake Eyez, now into his stride, smashed expert kicker Chateau D’Yquem aside with a serious concussion. Uncle Monty had less success blitzing Turnova, merely shoving him aside. On the other side of the field, the sad life of a thrall was brutally exposed, as Domaine Romanee-Conti was stunned by Wunin Nyn then twice more as both Marwood and The Poacher emptied his arteries.

The Blunderworld attack shifted to the right flank and this time Mizplay ran forward into a receiving position. In response, Withnail and The Poacher both utterly failed to entrance Snake Eyez and Turnova, Monty’s blitz again only pushing the skaven lineman but rescuing Withnail from the dangerzone of Snake Eyez’ tackle zone.

Interzeptid moved forward on the right, but without the numbers needed to produce a fully vampire proof cage. After Snake Eyez had ko’d another thrall, Marwood rendered yet another unconscious sating his bloodlust. Heroic thrall Chateau Latour then astounded his vampire overlords by dodging in to singlehandedly take down Interzeptid and retrieve the ball!

With the thrall on the sidelines and time slipping away, options for Blunderworld to secure the score were limited. 3rd Miztake battered the intrepid thrall to the ground unconscious and Interzeptid retrieved the ball. Withnail demonstrated his uncanny agility by dodging through to knock down Interzeptid yet again, but at the cost of ko’ing another thrall as thirst overcame him. Meanwhile, Wunin Nyn caught the loose ball but was unablke to escape Marwood, the loose ball being hurled across the pitch by the crowd.

Marwood at last blitzed Turnova successfully, knocking him out, and the half was over. With plenty of unconscious players reviving, both teams started the second half at full strength. Inspired by a crafty stratagem from Da Bozz, Blunderworld stole a march on their opponents but the blitz move achieved little against a deep kick. The Poacher collected the ball but injured Dom Perignon 1990 by biting him, leaving his protection rather thin.

Seizing his chance to blitz Monty, Snake Eyez stunned the lethal vampire as Blunderworld pressured the front of Withnail and Sons’ cage. Coach TravelScrabble shifted his attack to the vampire’s left flank, but was again hamstrung by thirsty vampires, as another thrall was drained into unconsciousness. Monty’s next target was the mighty Dubskullz, the troll hurled aside as the campires tried to break through the centre.

They eventually succeeded in doing so, but were now looking light on numbers, as Interzeptid ko’d another thrall, allowing Snake Eyez to penetrate the cage and badly hurt The Poacher. Agile goblin Sent Orf II was unable to retrieve the ball from two vampire tackle zones however.

The vamps achieved little in response to the sack, Monty stunning Interzeptid but strongman thrall Cheval Blanc fluffing his block against Sent Orf II. Snake Eyez injured a thrall with his blitz and Sent Orf II finally retrieved the ball for Blunderworld. It was impossible to keep the little guy safe from Monty however, the vampire injuring the goblin and seizing the loose ball.

Monty was wrestled to the floor by Turnova, and Rekt retrieved the ball, Troll Brekfazt II sprinting forward into scoring range. Monty once again sacked and injured the goblin ball carrier though, but Withnaiul could only fall over his own feet and knock himself out attempting to dodge through and pick up the ball. At this point, there were only two vampires and three thralls remaining for Withnail and Sons.

Interzeptid retrieved the ball and hurled it towards the goblin scoring threat, although inaccurately. With the final move of the game, Snake Eyez injured another thrall before Interzeptid re-attempted the pass, but this time it was Troll Brekfazt III’s catching skills that proved inadequate, and the game ended scoreless.

    Part 20

    Back in Averland!

Let no one speak about our first season in tier 2 ever again! And let no one dare to point out that our beloved and deadly Snake Eyez is now deadly in the wrong sense and replaced in the squad by Snake Eyez II!

"We iz back again den Bozz."

"Dat's right Sent Orf II. My theory iz dat my coachin' waz just too good. I made youz all look better dan youz iz. Youz lot waz not ready ta face da big boyz in Nordland yet."

"Dat's certainly one way ta look at dis Bozz. Some might say you haz made a great big squig mess ov it all."

Appearing at Da Bozz' shoulder, the hulking shadow of Dubskullz lengthened and engulfed the diminutive form of Sent Orf II. The agile goblin shrank in on himself and took an involuntary step backwards.

"Nah. Ain't no one stoopid enuff ta say dat Sent Orf II."

Raising one sardonic eyebrow, Da Bozz span on his heel and resumed scratching glowing tactical runes on a smoothed area of the cave wall with a shard of warpstone crystal. Dubskullz slowly pounded one enormous fist into his palm. Sent Orf II glanced shiftily from side to side and backed out of the room.

    So let's review the competition!

Soul Music - Necro - @helGn A major threat dis team almost worse than bein' back in tier 2 boyz! Well developed pozishunals but still so tee vee efficient. Gotta hope not too many gobbos iz dyin' in dis one. Actually ... who cares boyz???

Withnail and Sons - Vamp - @TravelScrabble We enjoyz our contests against dese vamp boyz. Dey is more developed now ov course but den so iz we. Goin' to be a close one. Maybe we can fink ov some really sneaky panz to come out ahead?

WeirdBoyz InK - Nurgz - @LittleBits47 Weird??? We iz da weird boyz in dis divishun thank you! Dis iz gonna be a tough one too but dis Nurgle team not really fully grown up an' scary one yet.

Elven Trade Union - Pro Elf - @Halub A bit battered dese boyz but dey iz elfs an' we don't trust elfs so far as we can spit boyz! Gotta see if we can show dem some sneaking an' dodgin' whilst bathing da pitch in elf gutz [we actually won this one 2-1 already in MD2]

Silvermoon Elves - High Elf - @Hlinic Even more battered dan de other elfs. Muhaha lets see if we can add to dere problemz boyz! We had a special eye on da agile catcher Mabrian an' we waz right to but it didn't help us in da end [we actually drew this one 2-2 already in MD1]

Tattling Blabbermouths - Zons - @Nooobody Nice lookin' ladiez if ya knowz wot I meanz boyz! Dey got some skillz an' a star thrower but still early dayz for dis team.
