Question: How many teams will advance to the playoffs? The top 2 or top 4 of each dividion?

We need to get everybody into the playoff league first, and that usually takes a few days. My current plan is the first week of the playoffs won't end until after Halloween weekend, to make sure everybody's got a full weekend to schedule matches, but that's subject to change.

I write this before I'm gonna soon get kicked to smithereens in CC final. Ofc I'm happy that I was able to finish my abysmal earlier run in CCs, but... IMHO placing 1 team from 2 upper tiers and 1 from 2 lower divs ain't right. It will probably make a very one-sided final. So, the seeding system and bracketing for play-offs should changed. I liked the system that was in place earlier in which #s 1 and 2 of div1 were placed to different sides of the bracket and so on.

Anyways, just my 2 cents. Gotta go and get some beer to numb my soon forthcoming pain...

When was that system? Back when only rookie teams were allowed?

This setup has been used every time bar possibly one, because it is more likely to produce a low-division winner, meaning that they get something to play for as well (back when they decided to join the competition in the first place)

On average lower TV should still beat higher TV at least one in four, but forcing the rookies to run a gauntlet means it gets likely that they will strike out.

My best suggestion for you is to treat the semifinals as the "inofficial final" if you prefer, and the final as the final confirmation.
(Although I'm one of those who have lost against "the lower team" in the final)

I like the current system and you weren't that far off winning.
You make the 1 turner on turn 8 and you would have won the match.

My dwarves came close last season against Daka's necro as well.

I think my 1st CC was 11, back in autumn 2013. There were like twice the teams around, wild cards and what-not. But IIRC, the finals at least then was more competitive. As Nik said, the real final is really the upper bracket semi-final with the current system. I'm just saying it's not fair that only 1 hi TV team has the chance to get to the final. In hi TV teams' place there was a 1500kish semi-stunty bunch fighting for the honours...

I've been thinking about how we can increase participation in the Crunch Cup, but I don't have any great ideas. If anybody has any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

Whilst it is a while off yet before the death of leagues in BB1 (fingers crossed) I would be surprised if we can get a huge increase in numbers in BB1 leagues. However you could relax some of the restrictions on non CC/CTA/CTALE teams playing. I'm sure there are people who want to play their old BC or even OCC teams again. There are plenty of other leagues out there too. Whilst not likely to double the number of coaches it could give the CC a shot in the arm and move it in to a more hardcore group who are likely to hang around the longest.
