Ok, good. Still some people missing out of the original applicants.
The options now seem to be: cut numbers down to sixteen - rest of teams become unlikely reserves.
Or the addition of dedicated "murder squadrons".
With applicants missing even from the first batch, I am more inclined to cutting numbers.
Anyone with strong feelings on the issue?
(One long shot option is the "second spooners cup" of eight teams, since that should mean everyone both wanting and deserving to play gets to do it, but no need for so many additions. Comments about this?)
I am now free of the CC shackles, I am ready to throw in an offering to the blood gods. Let us know what you need
I don't care, I was just offering my elf body for service!
I'd like to play, any way.
They have a name for people like that.....
Just either pull in some Stunty Ringers from people in the play offs or at very least have a 2nd 8 player cup so everyone gets a game.
Thanks for sorting all this btw mate.. great job
i like the 8 player second cup.
I dislike the murder squad teams....to me its akin to the "no bash" league (but opposite extreme) of imposing additional, unnecessary rules on the game. Consider what would happen if, say, an orc team ran into a pro elf "murder squad." If the orc coach was smart, he's completely ignore the ball, and smash elves for 16 turns for SPP....maybe he'd score on T16, or maybe he'd score turn 28. It really doesn't matter. With the extras forbidden from scoring go-ahead TDs, it opens the OTHER team to play both sides of the ball by completely ignoring it. It feels like playing someone in a chess game who says "for the first 5 turns you can't capture pieces"
- my 2 cents.
I personally like the idea of stunty murder teams... but the last option seems more fair.
Murder Squadrons would know about their role when going in (so more chainsaws and trolls than pro elves), but I agree that I'm not really enamored to the idea.
Well, 16+8 it is, meaning I get another day to sort things out as well since the cup(s) are shorter than the others. Watch this space for more information
Any option for a new team to join here? I'm not sure what the procedure is for trying to join the Crunch Cup or if I can move my team back and forth. I'd love to do this if you have room.
The procedure for joining the Crunch Cup is
Apply to the Crunch Cup (CC) with a rookie team.
Then there are options:
You can apply to Crunch Them All (challenge league, CTA) with a rookie team, play up to six games in CTA and then apply to CC
You can apply to Crunch Them All - League Exhibition (CTALE) with a rookie team, or a team that has played up to six games in CTA, and then apply to CC
You can have a team that has played in CC, play up to two interim games in CTA and then play in CC.
All CC seasons end with a Playoff for the Cup (hence Crunch Cup) - for those who did not manage to finish in a spot good enough for the playoff, there is the Crunched Cup (CrC) to give them a shot at the "Golden Spoon" - to prove they are best of the losers.
So in your case I'd suggest you apply to the CTA and play a couple of games there, and the submission thread to CTALE should show up in a week or two. Just keep visiting the forums and learn more about us all
Just wanted to finalize that "yes, it'll be 16+8" - but I have a bit of a cold today, so I'll set up the 16 team playoff tomorrow Wednesday (and tell the other 8 where they should head)

Second spooners - report in here and keep paying attention (but since your playoff is only three weeks, there is plenty of time)
I've applied to the second spoons what ever thing.
This is slightly confusing, I'm not quite sure I understand the whole 16+8 concept thing, but hey, if I win my matches I win, right?
Deluge - for the second spooners first week is 8 teams (four matches) - half get eliminated, so 4 teams (two matches) the second week, and 2 teams (one match) the third week. Each match week will be one week long, which I might have been unclear about.
And if you win three games, you win the second spoon.
I also applied.
I'm glad to be in. Thanks, Nikolai!
