Well I finally made the time to put my team together, though i still need to get some modelling putty and work on the Abominations a bit more (thinking a labcoat on one, and mad scientist goggles/rubber gloves on the other). For the most part, the bitz are done, with only Coach Dangly being left to model.

I made the logo with some free time and Microsoft Paint, so I got a bigger version so you can see the caption:

EDIT: Huh, the thumbnail didn't work... also forgot to mention what the saying means: Everyone is doing it.

And now for the team photo, with 3 Rerolls and an Apo:

    Left to Right:

    Back Row: Professional Abominations(Bull Centaurs)
    Harold
    William

    Middle Row: Experisquigs(Chaos Dwarf Blockers)
    ES102C: Cuddles
    ES316B: Bullseye
    Tik-Tik: Living Playbook
    ES287G: Grumpy

    Front Row: Interns(Hobgoblins)
    Snagga, Netter
    Ritgit, Netter
    Bottlebrush, Pen Cleaner
    Fijjit, Stable Feeder
    Throttlegoo, Lullaby Specialist

I'm going to spend some time after work on Tuesdays before the matches at Empire, working on getting them painted up. Thinking of a nice glowy purple for the brains/weapons arrays, white for the labcoats, and black for the teeth/claws/gloves and whatnot.

Hope this team is going to be able to make it in this season. :)

This team has a lot of character. Make sure to label the bases so your opponent can tell what each piece is. I can't wait to see it painted. :D

That's what you said about every army and team I made... although I started painting the Yellow Snow Tribe, and my converted Slaanesh army would've looked sweet with a couple coats of paint. ;)

I like the team photo oyu have provided! In fact, I think this game gives an excellent opportunity to develop your creative skills and logical abilities. I am new to this process but I find it enjoyable already!

Thanks, I look forward to painting them... what my color scheme's going to focus on is white, black, and a purple with glow effect. I have no idea how I'm going to do the glow effect, but I have some spare bits about for experimentation. :)

I forgot what the I named the players when I put the roster at Empire Games together (I always forget something). ;) So the Players on the roster are:

    Abominations:
    1. Harold (Two tentacles)
    2. William (One tentacle)

Experiments (the roster has their Experisquig numbers, but I just jotted the names down here):):
    3. Tik Tik
    4. Cuddles
    5. Bullseye
    6. Grumpy

    Interns:
    7. Skragga (Netter with high net)
    8. Ritgit (Netter with side Net)
    9. Nekky(Runner)
    10. Gretch (Gobbo with blade)
    11. Stegit (Lullaby Specialist)

I also got to do my first league match today, against The Rotten Bastards (Nurgle). So, without further ado:

Gobbo Science Society vs. The Rotten Bastards: 1-0
    Match Rating::pow::pow:

This match was so intense, I was almost out of my mind! I kicked off to him first, but after the high kick, I knocked the ball loose... which resulted in hijinx as both sides fought for control. I picked up the ball with an intern, who handed it off to Nekky. The plucky little guy ran it in for a TD before getting badly hurt in Turn 8... safe. :) Bullseye was injured with a niggling injury from his Beast (Bob Wiygn), but was Apo'ed to the reserves box. He couldn't do much on the second kickoff to him in the first half, since we rolled up a blitz for the kickoff table result. Apart from the CAS, Bob Wiygn didn't do much all half but drool... four or five straight 1's if I remember right.

The second half was a lot more even, and started outwith Gretch getting stunned when a Bastards fan threw a rock at him. A serious fight for the ball ensued, with someone handing off the ball to Skragga, who in turn threw it to one of my abominations who was downfield. He was stopped before he could score, and the ball ended up in midfield again with both sides huddled around it and poking it with sticks. It was intense, with Grumpy getting stunned by up-and-coming Nurgle Warrior Puke Facebreaker. He was in scoring distance for two turns, but the scrum around the ball was too fierce to pick up.

In post game, he rolled 50k for his take, while I got 30k(2 rerolled to 2). Orbkack the Stomach-churner won MVP, as did Skragga. I also got a fan factor from the win, so hopefully my chance for FAME will be better next week.

I also told him about the website, so we might be having another coach join our ranks soon. :)

Now that the match report's done, I have a question. Skragga got snake eyes for his skill roll, so I was thinking of going in several direcitons:

    1) Block: always a great skill
    3) Leader: Considering the price of rerolls, I could make him a Leader/Block/Kick piece
    4) Guard: This would help the experiments get more of their blocks in to get things done.
    5) Sneaky Git: Will grab Dirty Player when I get the chance.

    What do you guys think?

That sounds like a really fun game. If you are going to play with a Beast of Nurgle you have to be content sometimes avoiding the dice and just tying people up. I've learned THAT lesson the hard way.

As for skills, I would skip the Sneaky Git (to early to risk that ejection IMO) and Leader (unless you only have 2 rerolls). Block is good. I think Guard might be better to give him that support role and the dice advantage you will be needing.

Yeah, I'm going to go with Guard. As for mutations, I promised myself not to go nuts over claw for the experiments (though it does fit). There's only ten games in the season, and claw/mighty blow wouldn't be fun to play against.

Come to think of it... Disturbing Pressence might be a fun mutation to look at, thematically speaking.;)

I would not be afraid to give one guy claw/mighty blow even if you are going for a softer list. It is one of those advantages that you need. I can see not adding piling on for the overkill since you are having a gentleman's list but you do need to have at least one killer on your squad to stay competitive in the long run of the season. 10 games is a long time. Remember that each team in the Terror Island league only has 6 games per season so you need to outlast that. Some murdering skills (in the name of science of course) would be something worth looking at.

I can see where you're coming from, but it's a tough call. Granted there's a Lizardman and two (I think) Orc teams, but Skinks are rather squishy already... not to mention the Goblin and Pro Elf teams in the league. With Block, Tackle, and the Intern's Guard, that's already a great way to wiping a team out. Getting Claw and MB might be going a bit overboard.

Still, we'll see what generates from the experiments. Gobbo Science isn't exactly exact. ;)

Gobbo Science Society vs. Riot's Lions: 0-3
    Match Rating: :pow::pow:

This match was against Coyote81's human team, and boy did he roll HOT!! He got three touchdowns with the same Blitzer, scored an interception on a desperation play I had to make to keep in the game, got a casualty against Bullseye (apo'ed) and got a MNG against Nekky.

For my part, I couldn't pull anything together, offense or defense. I did have a blast though, and Coyote is a great coach to play against. I only wish I was a better challenge than I was today.

Post game went a far cry better than the actual match with 40k going into the treasury, for a total of 80k. With the cash I got from this, I'm thinking of conducting another experiment on a squig for the start of the next match (one extra experisquig is better than a loner intern). Nekky's out next game, but rolled double fours, so I'm leaning toward another Guard.

    A great match, but I wish I could've been a better challenge.

I did enjoy the game, and thanks for the compliments. My dice were a little too hot to make my lack of experience show. But thanks for the compliments anyways. Hopefully your experiments come to awesome fruition. I need to work a little on my character names, but come next week i expect to have the team roll call done. Thanks again for the great game.

Gobbo Science Society vs. Jason's Goblin Team: 2-1
Match Rating: :skull: (Coach Rating::pow::pow::pow:-fun coach to play against, but the match itself could've gone a lot better)

This is one of those wins you don't boast about. He's good, and he tried his heart out, but his players kept choking on him when he needed them most. This cost him two touchdowns, on a failed GFI his ballcarrier tripped, snapped his own neck, and killed himself in the end zone... he got apo'ed back into the match.

My dice rolled HOT, but his players couldn't get him going. This is another example of how bad Nuffle gave him the finger. He rolled for stupidity with his troll... failed it, despite having a babysitter, made his Loner roll to use the reroll, then his reroll on the stupidity was another 1! I can understand failing the Loner roll, but making it only to fail it again with a babysitter is just low... even by Nuffle's standards.

My side did great, with Skegit getting two completions (yep passed to my bull centaur William on both occasions); William with two touchdowns, Bullseye with a casualty and MVP, Cuddles with a casualty, my newest addition to the team Speedy(squig experiment) got a casualty, and Tik Tik scored a casualty. I rolled 60K for the take, taking the total to 70K. Adding to that, my team is full strength for the next match, having both interns with guard on the pitch is going to be brutal.

For player skills, I rolled a regular skill up for William, and am gave him Sure Hands (I'm in the Bull Centaur Ball Carrier camp), and for Bullseye a pending Double roll... I'm thinking on the following.:

Mutations: Not having Claw-Pombs on my roster, but Prehensile Tail, Disturbing Presence, or even Horns might be nice. Prehensile Tail or Disturbing Presence are what I'm leaning towards

Agility: Jump Up would be a great boost to Bullseye's poor MV value

Passing: Leader, getting a 140K reroll for a skill choice is a very tempting option.

Out of the above, my top three are PT, DP, or Leader... Jump Up is very tempting also.

EDIT: Even though it need not be said, he was a real good sport about the whole thing. He got frustrated, but not many of us on the receiving end of a Nuffling wouldn't be. He also pointed out some things to help me improve my game. Great coach to play against, I only wish the dice could've gone better for him.

You guys missed some insanity in me and greg's game after you left. The undead team just beat my guys down, and with only 3 men on the field, I managed to get the ball and score a touch down. Making an amazing (no rerolls available) 4+ dodge, 4+ dodge 3+ dodge and 2+ GFI before I failed a 2+ GFI in the endzone for the score. Luckily I put so much distance between most of his team, only one guy got close and he failed to foul me out. Managed to get up blitz him away and score. Felt comfortable that despite the worst game so far, that I was going to win since he only had 3 turn to score with his slow team. Lined up my 6 guys (yes 6 guys for the last defense) and he started to move the ball. he messed up a move and I thought it was over for sure. then on turn 8 he shows me what I did wrong. With no rerolls available he makes a 4+ dodge, 4+ dodge, 4+ dodge, 3+ dodge and 2 2+ GFI for the score. WTF, nuffle hates me. so not only did I get beat up (One dead blitzer =( and luckily only one other player out for the next game, although it's my ogre) I think the touchdown was my only SPP all game. record is now 1-1-1.

While I went in for the TD Jason took his troll and made a VS roll (2+) Dodged away from an Expirisquig (5+) Went for it Twice (2+), and knocke my bull centaur down. :)pow!::pow:). Sometimes the risky plays give out the best rewards. :)

Don't worry about Nuffle hating you; he hates us all. In fact, I think Nuffle's actually the Drill Sargeant character from Full Metal Jacket. His "All are Equally Worthless" speech kinda hits the mark when it comes to Nuffle. ;)

There's not going to be a match post for me tonight; between being run ragged at my day job, working on my novel, the wedding --you get the picture-- I don't trust myself driving enough to make the trip (driving while dizzy and being stopped at a green light earlier today kinda sent the hint across).

Let me know how the other matches turn out, Coyote. It stinks to miss a league match... it's a great group of coaches to play against.

    Match Rating: :pushback:

There are times when a coach loses, he's not the one to blame. This is one of those times.

I played against a relatively new coach, who is going to be great at the game. The only thing is his players choke when he needs them to make it. I may have two touchdowns on paper, but each one was real hard fought. He knows how to block, where, and everything... but how can a coach win when he rolls double skulls on the original roll, and the reroll? He was a great sport about it, though.

A little confidence could do him some good, he IS a good coach, but his players need to start doing what he wants them to. Once his players smarten up, his wins are going to skyrocket.

As for my side, William got another TD, as did Nekky, and Stegit got a casualty. Tik Tik got MVP for getting KO'd in the second half, and picked up a regular skill. With 80K for the take, my total cash is 150K. I might feed an unskilled intern to a newly hired experiment, but we'll see.

One of his ghouls skilled up after the match, but I didn't hear if he chose it yet or not. As for Tik Tik, being an experiment he has access to Strength and General. I was thinking Strip Ball, Mighty Blow (I already have two Guards), Grab, Dauntless, and Stand Firm. I'm leaning towards Grab, Stand Firm and Mighty Blow, but Dauntless does catch my eye as well.

Butt. Kicking... yep, that pretty much sums it up.

It was a fun match, but I was playing catch up from the start. He kicked off to me, rolled a blitz on the kickoff table, then plowed his saurus and skinks through, picked up the ball, and scored... then it was my turn 2. By halftime, I was down 0-2.

Now I'm known for having my players choke under pressure, but this game it was just one, who choked every time I threw a block with him. It's not his fault though, it's mine for not keeping him there and just take up tackle zones.

As for his team, lemme tell you, it's hard to contain an AG 4 skink, Tackle or no. In fact, he rolled three sixes in a row, neatly dodging out of two of Bullseye's tackle zones (Bullseye has Tackle AND Prehensile Tail), then another two tackle zones and home free.

Post game got me only 10K, but I have 160K in the Treasury... just in case something happens. No one skilled up, but it was a great match just the same. :)

I loved playing this team, but I just don't have the time right now. For anyone in the area, be sure to check out Empire Games... match night is a boatload of fun and the guys who play are a great lot. With my working three jobs and everything else, it's just not in the cards...

There's always next season, or the one afer that... but by that time I want to give the Savage Orc Team roster a shot. :)
