Torantolis, here, and I'm so excited to say hi!

I've been playing Blood Bowl for about a year and a half, now, where my buddies and I have assembled a League in the Midwest US. We've got about 12 teams and I'm now the Book-Keeper or Dammaz-Barazi of the League. I've been immersing myself in Blood Bowl trying to find all of the coolest tips and tricks for playing and I figured this would be a great place to start!

I've been playing Vampires for all three of our seasons so far; by the end of season 1 I'd developed my star Blitzer (Emilia von Schultz, nicknamed "The Damned") and had a total of 3 strength-ups across two vampires... but, a damnable halfling team used Zara to stab both of them to death in one game. Now I'm onto playing a more generic vampires team and looking forward to what I might play in season 4...

I was thinking Khemri/Shambling Dead/Chaos Chosen so I can be a bash-team. I'm sorta tired of having 5-8 casualties in my box every game from my thralls and 7 have died this season alone. Thoughts?

Going from Vamps to any of those should feel a lot easier, khemri would be a very different kind of challenge.

Oh, certainly. Vampires are a very unique team and I've had unusual luck with them (avg.4 vamps on the pitch at any one time with only 1-3 bloodlusts per half) which has led me to some legendary victories, but I'm hesitant on where to go next. Whelp, I guess I'm off to open a thread elsewhere to get the conversation going for which team other folks think is best!

    Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome! Dipping into vampires so early is a brave move, I respect that. And I totally understand why you'd like to change your race now! ;)

Like travelscrabble said, all three of those are probably going to be an easier experience... although Khemri could indeed prove out to be quite challenging in their own way. Based on my own experience it is really difficult to win with them against good coaches and I think I've never lost against a khemri team (not too many people play them, mind you). Controlling your tomb guardians is the key to success, as the rest of the positionals are overpriced and skeletons are extremely vulnerable for a bash team player! You will run into situations where you'd wish you had more agility or block on tomb guardians. At least you can start out with some block and sure hands.

Now to Undead, probably my favorite team when they start out. The role split in the team is done so great in my opinion. Cost-effective fodder in zombies, wights are pretty much like orc blitzers, ghouls are competent runners and mummies are awesome roadblocks! Their stats might be mediocre, but the skills are rounded out so well that they've felt quite unforgiving to play. However, their somewhat limited skill access and not so ideal stats will start to fall off as other teams improve, so building a true specialist can be difficult without some stats... although that hasn't stopped me from playing them.

Chaos are one of the most popular teams in the game and in my opinion the best race for the big show at really high team value. Their stats are good, they will get extremely brutal later on and also mutations help them to carry the ball like an elf! But before that you have a long journey to make through the first games, as you start without any skills. Reasonable stats in chaos will get you forward with good coaching, but if you roll bad dice it's going to be unforgiving. But each level up in that team is a huge boost for them... blockers/warriors get to do their job better, and beastmen are also extremely adaptable players. Everyone has G/S/M access!
