Halfling Helmut until I can bring Deeproot?

Hi All,

A few players in my local area have picked this up again and I'm running a few teams to keep things interesting (pro elves, undead and halflings).

I've played the other 2 before, but am new to the stunties.

My aim would be start with 2 hefties, 2 catchers and 8 hopefuls (plus the 2 trees).

This would leave me with 190 in the kitty, allowing me to have a chef and spend 50 of my cash to get helmut. My logic is that the chef early on will be most useful as other teams need their rerolls more, and helmut is a cheap access to a chainsaw, allowing me to hopefully take some opponent players off at a similar rate that I am losing halflings. Once the other teams get better and I can afford a chef and deeproot I'll go for that, but in the meantime, a cheap chainsaw seems fairly useful.

Anyone tried this/got any advice on this plan?

Obviously, Chef is a must. A FAQ in 2022 changed how inducements work and the underdog can no longer spend cash from their treasury. The overdog chooses first and if he spends any cash, then that is added to the underdogs petty cash.

That means you can't get Helmut in the way you describe. But you can get Cindy Piewhistle, the 'Fling Bomber. (The 2022 Almanac rereleased 8 old Stars including Cindy (50k) and Puggy Baconbreath (120k for S3 and Block)

I imagine that competitive flings will go for the chef + (depending on petty cash) Puggy, Karla, Griff, Deeproot, and/or Morg.

Just keep your TV low (tends not to be a problem) and your bench deep and you should be golden.

[Edit: I completely forgot to address your actual question. I don't think a saw without a bribe is gonna be worth it most of the time. Also, unlike goblins/snots flings can actually hold their own pretty decently with just the chef; they don't need secret weapons to take out the competition.]

In I understand correctly, the models should have their rules included in the pack. But obviously, that will not help you decide whether they're worth getting.

So, at least their profile and the name of the special rule can be found here: https://bbtactics.com/blood-bowl-star-players-list/

yeah, I've gone for a 3rd party model (as a fiver seems much more affordable than the forgeworld prices!). I've found what her 'all you can eat' rule does, doubt I'll ever use it so not too fussed, the rest are covered in the main rules.

Thanks guys!
