Hi, when you do a long throw can you simply throw anywhere even if it is not aimed at a person? If so where would the ball land? Can you throw further than the measuring stick? If so what’s to stop you throwing the ball as far as you can to the end of the field each time to gain an advantage? Thanks.

You can throw anywhere even if not aimed at a player, the range is based on the measuring stick though and can't go beyond that for where you aim (Though if inaccurate it could scatter to further away)

But if you throw the ball not to a friendly player, you will suffer a turnover. Also throwing it down to your opponents half in many games, will just give them the ball which will be hard for you to steal back against a good coach.

By the way does that mean if you throw the ball to an empty spot and it’s accurate it just lands in that spot?

If accurate yes, but then it will bounce if not caught.
