The first match of the Munch Cup got underway with a hard fought 1:1 draw between The Blues Brothers and Regor's Orcs, Carnival of Badoom.
A blitz on the Humans opening kick off did not yield much reward as they could not penetrate a well organised Orc Line, however after a couple of unlucky double skulls the Orcs were soon in trouble and had the ball stripped. Alas the first half degenerated into a stand off where no one managed to pick up the suspiciously soapy ball! 0-0 at the half and a grand total of 0SPP between the teams.

2nd half the Humans received, attempted to farm a pass for SPP but rolling 3+ for the catcher proved beyond him. Next the catcher managed to get clear and actually do his job, but a Black Orc blitz with 2 GFI then a well timed POW roll injured him off. Pretty soon the Orcs superior strength was telling, eventually leaving the Human thrower alone facing a wall of Orcish meat. A fortuitous dodge away though, coupled with a hand off allowed the Brothers to run through a cunningly created lane and things were looking good. We duly scored in our turn 14, allowing 3 turns for the Orcs to equalise.

Annoyingly the kick went awry giving a touchback, plus a reroll for the Orcs left them in good shape. They were quickly in trouble again but a nice hand off and 2 GFI switch play allowed a blitzer to be clear. 1 sole Human blitzer could reach on a 1D block with 1 gfi which he made and rolled a push to pin the Orc on the sideline. Another Orc blitzer tried to block him away, needing 2 GFI, the first was failed but the reroll kicked in and a knockdown followed, allowing a simple run in for the equaliser on the last turn of the match.

A fair result I think, neither team did enough to win. Well played Regor, I enjoyed it even if the 1st half was not exactly good to watch!

    Getting Started,

First game in Munch Cup BB2, a special thanks to Mamutas by taking the initiative and those who are making possible.

Orcs Vs Humans, a game against a coach with lots of experience, Ravers. I do not have much experience with orcs, I wanted to try the bloodbowl2 lack of necromantic team and chaos dwarfs.

I had only 2 rerolls and no apot.

Humans choose kick, prepare my attack. Unfortunately the result is a blitz and lose some position. I can catch the ball but already surrounded by human and xD ogre. I try a tear in turn 3 to give the ball to a blitzer which flows into the human field. But he could not keep for long. I lost the ball, but always stood in the middle of orcs and humans. I spent 2 rerolls in 2 red skulls roll with a black orc (i curse him!). Half-time.

In the second part the fun began.

I tried to mount a defense that kept my side line. The kick-off event gave me a valuable reroll.

To try to surround the ball carrier, I was caught on the back foot, saved me a blitzer with gfi that eventually hurt the ball carrier. I could not catch the ball and passed a human turns managed to control the ball, while maintaining some orcs and the line of contact with the ball carrier a dodge well done and a hand-off made it caught unprepared. Touchdown to humans. BBKing the first player to do touchdown!

I had only 3 turns to get score. The human kick saw the ball go out, giving the ball to my more advanced blitzer. I bet on attacking the left, protecting the ball carrier to the sideline and 2 defenses. But one blitz with the ogre (who missed the BoneHead but one reroll saved the rally) surrounded me the ball carrier, ventured to make a blitz with a given with a black orc (both down, reroll, push). I made a hand-off to another blitzer that would be the only one who could score in two shifts. Luckily only two humans were ball carrier range (would have to do gfi). Fortunately the blitz resulted in only a push, and another human crashed, was surrounded by human blitzer, had to do a blitz with a lineman to release the carrier, failed the gfi but one reroll saved me! Defender down.

Moment of truth, needed to make 2 gfi without reroll .. I closed my eyes and just listen ... celebration! TOUCHDOWN!

Ravers thank you for the game, I believe it was a fair result, I learned a lot, good luck for the next games. I believe it was an excellent start to start the competition!

Lizardman VS Darkelves, a game between SlyAnimal and me.

Both 2 rerolls and no apo. The elves chosing to defend first.

The game starty of well, on the first turn we have a dead line elf and a saurus covered in glorious blood. The cage and screens are formed and the lizards crawl up the field. Little progress is made when the elves overcommit on the cage and most of them get screened off the ball carrier as a result. Now the ball is near the endzone and safely screened so the saurus and kroxzy go hunting for some elves. Little do they find as all they get is 1 KO. TD is made on turn 8 and its time to switch sides.

The elves move far up the field right out of the gate but they are behaving quite unelf like and have difficulties handling the ball. The hand off fails and then does so again on the reroll. The lizards happy turn the drive over and the elves find themselves yet again on the wrong side of the saurus. The ball finds its way to the endzone with a screen yet again, but this time I misposition and 1 of the elves makes a mad dash for the ball carrier to outright kill him on the spot. The touchdown will eventually be made after more failed elf bashing. The elves remembered their reputation and got in a fast score. The game was lost for them however as the score was only realized on turn 16.

A 2-1 win for the lizardmen but a severe lack of casualties resulting in no level ups.

Well the first match of Division 2 kicked off this evening, between the Komodo Dragons (Lizardmen - NotoriousNoob) and The Deceivers (Dark Elves - PapaNasty).

The Deceivers won the toss, but as it was pouring with rain, elected to defend for the first half. Unfortunately this turned out to be a poor decision, as the rain stopped as soon as the ball was kicked off, where the Komodo Dragons set about punishing the Dark Elves by knocking down the 3 blitzers on the line of scrimmage, although at the expense of a valuable reroll. Dino the Saurus then charged at poor lineman Fandbean, his swinging arm literally taking off Fandbean's head. With no apothecary to mend his wounds, Fandbean was then served as the half time snack.

From here the game degenerated into a game of cat and mouse, with the Dark Elves forming up into lines to slow down the cage, with a single blitzer trying to crack a way through the rear skink guards. Then one of the Saurus, blocking for the first time that turn, rolled a double double down, and coach NotoriousNoob decided to not use a reroll. The Deceivers used this time to pounce on the cage, surrounding it and trying to crack it open with a valiant, but stupid, run at the cage by the Elven Blitzers. The attempted blitz was unsuccessful and the Komodo Dragons quickly recovered, sending the ball carrier across field with an escort, while the bulk of the Deceivers were tied down by Saurus and the Kroxigor. The Deceivers tried to recover, with some brave, but ultimately fruitless runs at the ball carrier, however they were simply caught out of position and the Komodo Dragons were able to easily escort the ball carrier, Fluffy, over the line, taking the score to 1 - 0.

The second half then kicked off, with The Deceivers taking advantage of an offensive Blitz to disengage from their tackle zones and send almost their entire team down the right hand side in preparation for creating a clear path for the ball carrier to run down. But alas, when they went to pass the ball to the receiving blitzer, they rolled a 1, and again with the reroll, to fumble the ball well away from the rest of their team. The Komodo Dragons blitzed to the ball, cleared the area around it and by doing so effectively locked the Deceivers onto the wrong side of the field. The Komodo Dragons then sent their skinks down to the line, but miscalculated and left just enough room for Murry Mohawk, a solitary Dark Elf Blitzer Lil'Man, the skink ball carrier. With a scream of "For that other guy earlier in the match!!", Murry Mohawk drove his fist through Lil'Man's skull, killing him instantly and spilling the ball onto the ground. This heroic effort wasn't enough though, and Speedy from the Komodo Dragons was able to retrieve the ball & score, taking the score to 2 - 0.

With only 3 turns remaining, PapaNasty instructed the Deceivers to throw everything they had at the Komodo Dragons in an effort to score a touch down. The kick went deep though, so the Deceivers ran it back just short of half way and formed a cage, with runners heading into the deep of Komodo Dragon territory. The dragons marked up the runners, but the deceivers tried a risky play, running upfield, passing and then attempting a 50% handoff to their marked player, but it didn't come off and things were looking grim for The Deceivers. But then the Komodo Dragons rolled a double double down on their first block, without any rerolls remaining this gave The Deceivers the respite they needed. The receivers sprinted their remaining players up field to remove the markers, and Ben the Bouncer knocked hammer out, scooped up the ball and ran for a touch down, adding a little dignity to the score at 2 - 1.

    Final score:

    Komodo Dragons 2 - Deceivers 1

    Final thoughts:

All in all it wasn't a great game for either of us. We both lost a player, had minimal winnings and didn't receive much SPP (In total, 2x deaths, no injuries, 1 pass & 3x TDs), but not enough for any of our players to level up. These factors combined could get both of us off to a slow start in the tournament, although of course it could have been much worse, as we could have each sustained more losses, or had a lower scoring game.

P.S. Apologies if you don't like walls of text :p after seeing the other reports, I figured it's ok to make a bit of a story out of it :)

The second match of Division two kicked off with the swift Skaven of "Rat Boy Skim" taking on the Mighty Elven "Pompous Knights".

Things got off to a good start with the fans breaking onto the field and engaging in a few pre-match scuffles with the players. The Skaven team had elected to kick so sent the ball down field. Initially the elven team took advantage of the chaos inflicted by the fans to inflict the first injury of the game. Several broken ribs were administered to a lineman from the start.

The next few turns were dogged defence from the rat man as the elven team broke left then right down the field and players slowly started to come round. Moving the ball with speed it looked like they may have got to within scoring distance but the loose cage collapsed as the lineman carrying the ball failed to dodge the clawing hands of the Skaven players. The ball spun free as he fell with a gutter runner swiftly collecting it and handing off to a team mate who sped up-field outside the range of any of the elven defenders. It was a formality one turn later to trot over the line.

A riot in the crowd reduced the first half as Ogre enforcers were let loose to regain order. The Skaven team dropped deep to prevent any further casualties.

1-0 was where it stayed until half time.

At the beginning of the second half the both teams were down to 10 players with players from both sides not appearing to want to listen to the team talk and instead have a little rest.

A set play failed to work out for the cunning rat men due to a failed throw but a recovery capitalising on one of the closing elven players tripping over his own feet enabled a dodge, hand off and run down the wing. A valiant effort to stop the sprinting runner only ended up with both players on the floor giving a following runner a chance to collect the loose ball and run it over the line.

    2-0.

The Skaven team was now down two players sleeping and one injured. The Elf team was back up to full strength and looking for two quick scores to tie the game.

This looked like it might be about to occur as the unorthodox elven cage formed around the ball while the cheering fans screamed on the Rat Boys. Rats lay around the cage but a small gap allowed a single lineman to squeeze though and unassisted knock the ball carrier to the ground. This gap was then exploited again by a runner who charged through, collected the loose ball and tossed it out wide to a waiting team mate in space.

An annoyed elf front line then proceeded to knock all the teeth out of a the Skaven thrower mouth, sending him off the pitch, before a charging elf Blitzer managed to push the plucky runner with the ball dangerously close to the crowd, only for him to dodge away and run the ball in for his second try.

3-0 and the crowd went wild. Literally the ogres were sent in for a second time to pacify them and the referee forgot to stop his watch again. This left little time for any type of response with the rat men coming out 3-0 winners.

A couple of lucky rolls separated the two teams, a missed dodge on 1/6 and two failed two dice sacks on gutter runners was really what made a difference.

The match between Wacko Nuffleites and Holy Charge Knights has ended with the result of 2-0.

In the First Half of the game the ball possession was switching sides many times, mainly due to both team coaches making mistakes (and because of the interface that is not perfect). Holy Charge Knights almost scored but got stopped by a single block (failed dodge) just before the touchdown zone. After that Wacko Nuffleites got hold of the ball and with Nuffle blessing and a ton of luck they managed to score in the last couple of minutes of the first half.

In the second half Holy Charge Knights were on the offensive and tried to even the score. Thankfully Wacko Nuffleites were able to stop the charge of HCK near right side of their half of the field. At some point near the end of 2nd half Ogre Tett Crazyindahead manged to take advantage of the opening in the lines of HCK and smashed ball carrier to the ground. After a couple more blocks, the same player that scored in the first half, managed to once more make a touchdown just right before the final whistle blow.

The Spades - High Elves, Ibispi (Azura) vs ... and Chaos for All! - Chaos, Mamutas = 1:2

The elves had dominated the first half when they received the ball and went for a quick score. Chaos managed to know the ball out which was sent all the way back to Elves, but still failed to pick it up in 3 turns due to failed 2 dice blocks and useless rerolls. Elves snatched the ball and threw it over the whole Chaos half while both thrower and catcher were in tackle zones. I failed to notice, but did you roll all 6s on that pass?
Chaos had 3 turns to equalize and luck shined on the a bit this time. The picked the ball, caged up and moving the cage with ball carrier GFIing each turn, touched the ball down at the last turn.

Second half started with 1 man advantage for Chaos, they caged up and due to Elves action going south, the cage was wide open and quickly moved into the very corner of Elves field. Elves were hitting on the cage for several turns, even succeeding to mark the ball carrier and couple of times, but Chaos was able always to clear them out. Chaos stalled to the very end and managed to hold to the ball and scored at their turn 16.

In the last turn, Elves did their passing thing and attempted a few blocks, but nothing serious happened.

Both teams ended up with one injury (niggling one on a beastman), and 11 SPPs each with a level up on each side.

    GG, Azura!

It was a 5+ pass. The first roll was 2, then Ace of Spades (my thrower) used his Pass skill to reroll and then I got 5. That was probably my luckiest pass ever. :D

Jack of Spades (my blitzer) leveled up, since he scored and injured a beastman. He is a blodge piece now. :)
It was a fun game, mamutas.
I think this is my first game ever in a cup, but I think I did very well for the first game, despite the fact that I lost, since I got a lot of SPP.
Good luck in the cup, mamutas!

    The DORFinns 1 - 3 Blitzosavres

As Antonis said, a pretty bad start for us both as I had a -MA Longbeard and he got a -1AG skink. Premature career ending inuries for both gits.

Starting on offense I made some pretty bad calls, especially when I skipped my pickup attempt to just protect the ball...the result was a skink picking it up in 2 TZs and running away after a Saurus blitz. Allowing 2 defensive TDs really spelled defeat for me pretty early in the game. Had a shot at a TD in turn 8 but a Blitzer dodge failed and I had no RRs left to save it.:(

A blizzard that lasted the whole 2nd half only screwed the Dorfs a little more, making it even easier for the reptile to outmaneuver us. Antonis scored after 3 turns and another riot (we had 1 in the 1st half with the same effect) gave us both a turn and thanks to that, in the last turn, I managed to salvage a TD.

Thx for the match Antonis!:DHope your lizzies do well in the Munch Cup and may your skinks survive to tell their tale!:p

Big Green Ones (Orielensis) 2 :: The Dark Pirates (sbr32) 0

I injured a Black Orc on one of my first blocks then everything went sideways. My first drive did not go very well, including leaving the Linelf that marked the ball on the goal line back there for at least 2 turns maybe more and having a Blitzer get a broken Collar Bone to end his career. I eventually turned it over and the Orcs made a nice drive with a hand off to score T8.

Things got interesting at the start of the second half when the Orcs couldn't pick up a short kick, but they sorted that out rather quickly and ground the elves down to a T16 score. I got a vanity pass on my T16 and only won 20k for my efforts.

gg Orielensis and good luck in the rest of the league.

Happy Forest Friends 4 - 1 Sssssnakes on a Plane

Well, tonight I learned the power of Wood Elves.

The dice felt like they were heavily in my favour in the first half, and Kalo was forced to use both his rerolls in his opening turns. The Elves were able to apply enough pressure to get a blitz on the Skink ball carrier midway through the half, only for the ball to land in the hands of a Wardancer who had already moved. The Lizards moved in to surround them and the Elves were looking in danger. The WD handed off to the adjacent Catcher in the scrum of Lizards and some dodges and blocks freed enough room for him to move up the field with a light escort and he scored the following turn for the 1-0.

    *************

With no rerolls left, a both down from a Saurus left a gap for the Elves to get through to the only loosely protected ball in the backfield. The Skinks got a couple of tackle zones on the ball and the remaining Saurii made their way back to help but a blitz pushed one Skink away and the Catcher was able to swoop in, grab the ball in a tackle zone and dodge out for the score. 2-0 at half time.

    *************

The Kroxigor, Godzilla had badly hurt one of the Friends' Wardancers in the first half and the coach wasn;t confident about his ability to stall so he opted for the 2-turn touchdown attempt. The Elves set up heavily to the right and were able to get the ball to the remaining Wardancer who made a break for it up field. The coach misjudged the players he would have free to screen him and Kalo had no toruble freeing up a Saurus for the 2D blitz. HE was unable to knock the WD down however. With a line of Skinks in front of him, the WD went for the leap and dodge to make it 3-0.

    *************

Around this time, a LineElf received a - AGI injury from a failed dodge and the coach decided to play a bit more conservatively. Kalo made some good moves and managed to hand-off to a Saurus who was soon surrounded by his beefy friends. Coach LloydsGamble hovered over his Wardancer and eyed the leap button longingly, but chose to play safe and try and keep his players alive instead :p

The Sssssnakes were able to run in a touchdown shortly afterwards with the Elves choosing instead to kick the Krox in the head, badly hurting him. This made the Elves feel safer and several high fives were exchanged. 3-1.

    *************

With a few turns remaining, the Elves once again went for a similar quick offense. The Wardancer was left with another leaping blitz to free himself and score the TD that would level him up. Sadly, he ended up in a crumple heap instead.

The Lizards promptly surfed the Catcher with some well thought out blocks and went for the big plays with a Skink handing off to a Saurus who then attempted the pass to another Saurus. It only narrowly failed! The Elves were then able to do Elf stuff and a couple of dodges and a bitz later, the ball was scooped up and handed off to a LineElf who ran in the final touchdown.

    4-1 final score.

    *************

The game was a bit one-sided due to the dice mostly favouring me and the power of Elves who never roll 1's :powdodge: but Kalo was a good sport.

Good game and good luck with your next match!

    EDIT:

Sprightly Squirrel the Catcher levels and gets +AGI

Buoyant Bear the LineElf levels and gets Kick
