Welcome to the blog for Nurgle pirate lovers everywhere. This disgusting crew is attempting to slog its way up the divisions with the great art of pitch control. Along the way they will attempt to increase their numbers. 2 of the current members have been plucked from other teams and placed within the bowels of ours.

The team at the start of the Season has only 3 NW and only one of them with a skill due to rocked and 1d no mb blocks felling two of them in the SSC. One DP rotter (the other died too) is looking to do the damage. Star* players are the BoN (Kraken) which has managed to get 1 cas 3 mvp's and a TD (yes that is a td) and the ag 4 block pest (James Norrington).

Season looks difficult with most of the league being more skilled and Zons on match day 1! Current Division is 6B.

*If you can be a star at level 3

MD1: Lost Grrrlz vs On Pestilent Tides

So you can imagine my expectations going into a match vs zons with only 3 Nurgle warriors, 2 block and 0 tackle vs a team of zons with some guard mb and more wrestle and block. If I have to spell it out "L" "O" "W". Luckily Blood Bowl has never been one to read the script!

The pitch was bathed in a sweatering sun, the rotting flesh of the tide seemed to bubble. The festered hands of Mr Norrington picked tails... but the coin fell heads but the girls seemed to be into s&m and choose to receive. A rock was thrown but this time failed to cause any more than a mild concussion. A round of blocking later and the Nurgle have nothing gained other then the possession of the ball. The zons move around a bit to block the tidal advance. The Kraken forgets what his tentacles are for a moment leaving the ball carrier no choice but to move to the opposite flank with lesser protection. Again nothing hurt but a hole appearing down the right flank. Tit for tat blocks/fouls don't get anyone far but then a loner rotter decides he has had enough and puts himself in the injury box via an zons fist causing a late turn turn over.

Oh dear maybe not the smartest of blocks. Block block = gap. Gap = blitz. Blitz = downed pest and ball on the floor. Norrington is having none of that and gets up angry stunning his would be attacker and covering the ball to the best of this ability. The Krakon wakes up and attempts to hold some of the dodgy girls in place. The str 4 thrower attempts to move Norrington but a double bothdown result reminds the zon that she is one of the few girls not capable of blocking. She swiftly forgets this as she is knocked out from her misadventure.

Norrington now free of contact picks up HIS ball and wanders up the pitch, noticing some angry zons he goes for it and somehow manages not to fall over. A few well placed blocks keeps the ball most covered, unless the grrrzl wanted to try extra hard. A block ko's another loner rotter but now all marked the girls need a dodge to get back near the ball, nuffle decides the green tide should roll on so a double 1 dodge is performed. The Tide flows towards the end zone now with little threat of the grrrlz stopping it.

Meanwhile midpitch the going was less good. No more armour breaks for the tide and a double 2 would have seen the dirty player escorted from the pitch with nothing more than a stun to show for it if a large sum of cash hadn't quickly changed hands. The grrrlz on the otherhand take out Gibbs (NW) but luckily his injury is regenerated. With no re-rolls left Norrington just puts the ball down for a 1-0 turn 8. The heat and ko's saw only 6 of the tide bother to turn up against 11 for the grrrlz final turn of the half in which nothing but a completion happened.

The heat seemed to lessen for the start of the 2nd and 8 of the tide faced up against the 11 of the grrrlz. Luckily it was only rotters that failed to stand. A few blocks and the last zon attempts a dodge from the Kraken, he lets her go but trips her causing a stun and a turnover. The Grrrlz use their superior numbers and skills to make a hole in the tide's green hull and burst through but lose a girl to a ko in the process. The Kraken at this point started to hold onto more the grrrlz allowing some defence to rally. Jack the ex-monkey pest manages to blitz the carrier and a both down takes them both to the floor. The grrrlz quickly manage to recover the ball and attempt to get away again. The zons not attached to the Kraken are nearly out of reach but a 3+ dodge double gfi pow from Jack saves the tide from fate. Not only that but Jack catches the bouncing ball to add insult to injury. A few more pows in the turn and the grrrlz were on the floor or in the ko box.

A failed dodge at the start of they turn meant jack you move up the pitch unhindered and handing the ball to Norrington. Pintel stomped on a girl for the first cas of the match for the tide. This also freed him in the opponents half of the pitch. A couple more ko's and a successful hand off of the ball allowed the dirtiest player on the pitch to risk and complete the go for it to complete a excellent 2-0 victory.

After the match large funds and a MvP for a Nurgle warrior gives the Tide a 10 man roster and 2 Nurgle warriors on the verge of leveling (5/6).

Ok guys (and maybe/hopefully girls?) lets look at plan, the MASTER plan.

    Kraken (BoN):
    Current Skills: Guard, SF
    Future Skills: Grab, BT
    Doubles: Block, Pro, Dodge

    The Nurgle Warriors:
    Current Skills: Block (one)
Future SKills: Block (the rest), Guard, SF, grab/tackle, tail/bt
Doubles: Diving Tackle but only after I have block. that is the only double I care for I think
Stats: +str only I think, then tents as the next skill if they have block
*I can sense people screaming at me to take mb... please do :D*

    Pests:
    Norrington:
    Current Skills: +ag, block
Future Skills: sure hands, big hand, fend, 2 heads
    Doubles: Dodge, SS
Stats: +mv, +str, +ag all welcome. A doubles after +ag would be leap

    Jack:
    Current Skills:
Future Skills: block, mb(see there is one), claw, po, tackle, extra head
    Doubles: jump-up
Stats: +str, +ag I would take maybe +mv if not doubles around level 4/5.

    Pest #3:
Future Skills: wrestle, tackle, extra head, mb, extra arm
    Doubles: jump-up, dodge
    Stats: +str, +ag, +mv all welcome

    Pest #4:
Future Skills: block, frenzy, jugg, sf, mb , claw
    Doubles: ss and jump-up
Stats: +str, +agI would take maybe +mv if not doubles around level 4/5.

    Rotters:
Try to keep 2/3 DP around, the rest wrestle, fend, tackle types with guard as doubles. If guard as a first skill block as a 2nd.

That is my plan! You can tell me where it is stupid/misguided/never going to happen!

BoN I would consider Pro over Dodge on the second double, as it can make the beast a lot more reliable. Some people even like it over Block on the first double.

Warriors I think you have the right idea, although I would probably give MB early on to one or two that lag behind in development, as it helps them to catch up.

The pests and rotters seem like sensible builds in general.

An entertaining read as I too coach a Nurgle team
(Filthsburgh Virus) in Auld World MM. I'll chime in
more about the developmental paths of all your
players with the exception of Tycom Greatfoot. At
AG 2, he becomes purely a punching bag for the
LOS, I just personally prefer my Rotters to be at
AG 3 for it helps picking up fumbles when your
Pestigors aren't around. Additionally with Nurgle
being a pitch control team, AG 3 dodging is more
of a benefit to you in certain situations. Keep the
    game reports coming...

Consider BT on a ST5 Tentacles NW if you get one. Getting into a cage on 4+ to get tentacles on the BC is a desperation play but a nice option to have.

Very true! A Block str 5 tents SF BT would be great. BT is use useful for repositioning the tents anyway.

    MD2 Preview:

I play against a Khemri team that seems to be built just to kill "yay"

Same tv as me except 2 more players and I will have a loner rotter so a babe for him. This is not a great team to play at this stage of my development. Maybe the skeletons will give me free cas but I fear he will mostly go to town on my players and ignore the ball! Should be interesting but I hope it doesn't stunt my development even more :D

I suppose the vague plan it to minimise blocks on me and maximise blocks on him and if a positional goes down gang foul it until I run out of rotters... Considering this is a coach in tier 1 I fear that I will not pull this off very well!

Wow the MB throw Ra is really stacking the field, at low TV Khemri is not a nice match for Nurgle as you lack the kill skills to get though the thick skull & Regenerate and Nurgle teams are really poor value for there TV at that stage while Khemri are very TV efficient. Clever use of Guard will cause him difficulties especially considering the build but I do not feel you have enough to really threaten.

The match will likely be a draw unless Nuffle decides to step in on behalf of one side when it comes to Armour/Injury rolls, but its critical you give away as few blocks as possible. Also the Khemri's best action offensively is to hunt your rotters as you cannot protect them in any way, if achieved early they will quickly gain a numerical advantage and it will be a nightmare to challenge them for control of the pitch.

If you can take advantage of your superior speed and Agility you may be able to slip past the Khemri defence if you can get them to commit to a feint but Errant is no slouch so do not expect him to make mistakes.

PILE ON on a Guardian... STAMP on that bastard (I assumed it was a Blitz Ra) also the side lines are your friend in this game you really want to look for surfing Tomb Guardians as it leads to the following equation; Instant Injury + Decay = Utter Carnage!

Really what is going on with that Tomb Guardian... lol I am going to hazard a guess Errant Saint is running an experiment.

Sadly this team seems to be his kill the poor teams in 6B team. Yeah a draw if what I am hoping. My ag 4 block guy might be able to pull of some bs I suppose lol. I will be stamping with the DP until he is removed I guess.

Low teirs should be for the lower teams to gain strength not getting battered by full on death dealers!

I will try to surf his TG but I'm guessing that is easier said than done!

    Match Day 2 (6B):

He got the toss of the coin and decided that he would make me run his gauntlet. I collected the ball easy enough and knocked over a few skeletons. His response was to block the outside lanes and use his mb po TG to hit a rotter. The rotter was koed for his efforts. I then got a hit on a TG and caged a little into his half in the center of the pitch, a skeleton taking a ko hit. Marking up the TG on one side with rotters proved to make a good space but ended the life of a player... luckily that is what rotters do, especially loner rotters! He responded by marking up the left of the cage and blitzing jack with the mb po TG. he was now next to the Ball Carrier but what is ag 4 for if not to just dodge away. He found a nice space on the right which could be screened from hits without ag 2 dodges. Barbossa got a cas to put him up to 14/16 but regen saved the bony one. Now the mb TG hit jack again using his piling on to mng the poor dear with regen failing. he also blitzed a screening NW putting a TG in contact with Norrington. Enough players assists were around to stall for one more turn by blitzing with Norrington, but a turn 5 score had to be taken.

So he lines up and my ko doesn't bother so it is 8 on 11. He picks up the ball (he never failed) then charges forward and bam double skulls double skulls. This gives me a hit on the ball carrier, both down, knocking him and me down. He puts one thow-ra and bltiz-ra on each side of the pitch and easily picks up the ball again. For the 2nd time in 2 turns the Kraken is stupid leaving me more undermanned. I mark the left hand side players and norrington blitzs the other. failed gfi use a rr and I can only push and mark him 2 gfi from the end. He get enough assists in to 3d block me away and then passes his handoff and gfi's to score. 1-1 at the half... damn you Khemri elf play!

2nd half doesn't leave me much hope again being down players, str and it is no slack of a coach. He setups and picks up the ball again without fault. I attempt to pressure him rightly or wrongly by marking some players and screening a little to at least make him block me out the way. He trys a gfi after his rr is gone and the ball is on the floor! I get close to the ball but I fail my ag 2 dodge that I have tried more than once. Norrington gets hit by the mb po TG and is also mng with no regen. Barbossa is also hit down for a bh with no regen. Now I have no bock pieces and 7 vs 11. He picks up the ball again and marches to the end zone. He decides after hitting me a little to score and attempt the mad 2 turn defensive score.

I decide that it is time to attempt to get spp over a 3 turn score with no pest and only 2 ag 3 players. I pick up the ball with a gibbs (NW 5/6) he manages the pass.... the rotter with a rr fails the catch the usuless bastard.... I mean who do you have to kill to get a job done! He moves closer to attempt the td. Nothing much more happens except him blitzing with a TG, double both down on Gibbs! The TG gets mng and -ag(what will he do lol) and Gibbs levels! The game ends with a rotter failing a gfi (the catch failure rotter). Mvp goes to jack so he levels (he managed a pass before) and gibbs.

2-1 loss but needed some good ball handling by the Khemri so I will take a moral draw heh

    After match:
    2 level ups:
Gibbs got double 3! Block picked, right choice?
Jack got normals so block picked
    Gold 60k (100k total):
A new Pestigor - Davy Jones is born. Only 1 more Pestigor (60k to go) until I have the full set
Only 1 Pest is around for the next match due to mg's so maybe I can level him!

Block was right. Anything but +ST is Block for a NW first skill.
