Hey, so a tt league recently opened up where I live and @martybhoy and I have joined it. I've been looking to get into tt for years but used to live in a smaller town without a scene and also had lots of young kids which made tournaments tough. Couple of eyars ago when I moved to Montreal I got mysef a tt skaven team hoping to find a league and lo it has come to pass.

Trouble is I haven't played TT anything in ages and more importantly I haven't painted miniatures in like 20 yrs. Used to paint WFHB, Necromunda and 40k stuff - terribly awfully at first and barely ok by the end (I'm no Ilgoth with his amazing skills). Must say doing 11 minis for a bb team takes the grind out of the hobby (not like a 40 strong clanrat unit!).

But I got myself some paints and had a go. Ended up having a lot of fun (now with assembly, sodding hate asembling minis but with the painting) but went fr quite quick and dirty cause first game is Monday and I dont have a lot of time to paint.

    Here are the results

    Meet the team

    Its the Pratfalls Posse!

    With its star rogre
    [IMG]

Linerats (love these minis from Willy)

Stormvermin (less keen on these but you can't have it all)

Gutter runners (these are great too)

    And coach/apo

Remember I haven't done this in a long time so be nice!

Great work! I play skaven mostly on tabletop, I bought the BB2016 team when they came out. I don't like painting myself but after it's done I really feel proud when I can get them on the pitch, even if my painting skills aren't that good.

So I've played my first ever game against @martybhoy in what ended up as a hard fought 2-1 victory for the rats.

I went with a roster of Rat Ogre, 3 Gutters, 2 Blitzers, 6 Line Rats and an Apo and 2rr, which paid off as the apo saved a gutter from an AV break. Here's the match report.

Match report Pre-Season Match: Woevale Grievers vs Pratfalls Posse

“Welcome sports fans to this Swabble pre-season game between the Woevale Grievers and the Pratfalls Posse. I’m your host Marty Mudbelly and with me is my associate Umkar Severeson”

“This week we bring you a pre-season match between despicable ratmen and dwarfs so degenerate I refuse to acknowledge their existence.”

“The rats have won the toss and decided to start on defense - Umkar...where have you gone?....Oh what’s this the fans are throwing things from the stands. Charlie Clawin the big Rat Ogre goes down stunned as does one of the hobgoblins on the other side. And here comes my co-host”

    “Did the big rat die?”

“No he seems to be ok”

    “Damn”

“The evil dwarfs have started to attack the skaven on the line but they’re having trouble picking up the ball and the gutter runners have gone charging towards it.”

“Its shameful to fumble it like that when its so unprotected, that hobgoblin needs to shape up”

“There’s a scrum for the ball in the backfield, a hobgoblin is knocked onto it but its ended up between two more chaos dwarf players. The gutter runner has a chance to retrieve it but he’s tripped by the bull centaur’s flailign hooves and he’s out cold.”

“In my day the gutter runners were like shadows, they were properly trained, not like this sorry shower.”

“The chaos dwarves have the ball and have formed up around it near the centre of the pitch, but Chalie is finally back on his feet and has smashed into the cage, and the other rats are rushing to support him. The ball carrier looks panicked, the big rat is bearing down on him, he’s trying an uppercut *CRUNCH* ooooh.”

“That’s not how you punch a rat ogre, you punch like this *CRASH*.”

“Mind my PIES!....................................................Sorry viewers, technical difficulties. The rats have recovered the ball and snuck away with it towards the right of the pitch, and there’s no time left for either side to get it into the endzone.”

*SNAP* “Hur hur, that looks painful that’s how its done.”

“Yes that gutter seems to be in trouble but looks like that green potion is working, yes he’s back on his feet.”

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………..

“Welcome back to the second half fans. Marty stop stuffing your face. The skaven took some hard blows near the end of the second half and there are only 7 rats left to lineup against ten blaspheming devil worshippers.”

“The Skaven push hard down the right side and that gutter is in scoring range but how is he going to get the ball? That line rat has picked it up, he throws it, and the pass is good! That makes it an easy score and the Posse have their first score.”

“The chaos dwarves kick the ball, and THOSE CHEATING RATS - that’s going into the book.”

“The Rats have rushed forward before the ball has even landed. Its far in the back and the rest of the chaos dwarfs are having trouble getting back there, the rats have the screened off.”

“The ball is on the ground but surrounded by hobgoblins, but that tiny rat has pushed one out of the way, plant your feet you useless greenskin.”

“The skaven snatch the ball from right under their noses and score. 2-0 to the Posse!”

“Terrible, awful, shocking, in 130 years I can’t remember seeing a worse game.”

“The skaven are mostly staying back as the chaos dwarves advance safely this time. But Charlie is harassing the cage again. This time they manage to knock him down”

“Right under the chin that’s the weak spot”

“Now the cage is a few feet from the endzone and the rats are content to let them score.”

    “Cowards”

“The hobgoblin has the ball but looks like the bull wants it, he’s waiting in the endzone. The hobgoblin gives him the ball but he fumbles it, its sailing through the air and its caught! Great effort by that blocker. And that’s it the game is over, the Posse wins 2-1. What’s your verdict Um?”

    “Pathetic!”

I've decided to change this thread up a bit, making it not just about the team but also about my other musings as I enter the world of TT. Having launched my skaven team into the world I've already been thinking about getting another team going and finding myself really enjoying getting back into miniatures.

I'm disappointed by GW's 2016 ed teams by and large though, not because the sculpts aren't nice because they generally are and the price is right but because so many of the teams are just incomplete. Sure you can but two boxes of elves but that means you'll have 2 sets of identical catchers, which bugs me quite a bit. So I started looking around for other companies that though BB minis and came accross this post on the Swedish Blood Bowl Alliance page which is a fairly comprehensive run down of BB teams that are out their on sale and is a great resource.

    http://swebba.com/index.php?p=/discussion/10/models-by-team-type

I've spent far too much time today looking at all those teams and it made me realize some things I look for in a BB team.

    1. A full team: Should go without saying but sadly doesn't but you should be able to buy a full team with all positionals (including a deathroller for dwarfs). I don't mind if the standard team doesn;t come with everything as long as you can add things on with blister packs or single mini additions but buying a bunch of players you don't need to you can get two that you do irks especially if it means you end up with duplicates (GW!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
    2. Unique miniatures for each position. I actually don't care too much if there's a couple of identical linemen but its really boring to have identical positionals.
    3. It should be easy to tell positions apart: A personal requirement of mine is that you can easily see what each miniature is supposed to be. Skill rings or dots are fine but I much prefer it if you can tell just by looking at the minis who has block and who doesn't. I want my minis to have clear characters. Elf teams in particular seem to struggle with this and there are some I looked at for ages and still can;t tell who's supposed to be a wardancer and who's a line elf.
    4. Suits my own personal aesthetic: This is the second least important requirement but still there are some times when I just want the mini to feel right. Thralls that are too beefy and powerful looking don't feel right to me, equally elves that look like they would blow over in a stiff breeze (slender but powerful is more the kind of thing). At the same time I like having my preconceptions of what the teams should look like challenged. Obviously all very subjective.
    5. Resin: If possible I like resin over metal but its the least important requirement.

Bearing the above in mind here are some of my favourite teams out there all of which I covet in case anyone wanted to get me a birthday present ;)

Amazons: Sukubus Valkyrie Team: Actually A norse team but work as zons if you buy the two star player blitzers and then you have two teams for the price of 1 although there are norse teams I prefer https://www.sukubusstudio.com/valkyries-team
Dwarfs: Starplayer Dwarfs Properly beardy and ornate and a nice roller http://www.starplayershop.com/gb/dw...-sp-miniatures.html#/37-carrying_case-no_case in many ways I actually slightly prefer the aesthetic of Black Scorpions Dwarf team but no roller so meh
Humans and Bretonnians: Greebo Florence Knights - nice looking minis and great deal for two teams https://www.greebo-games.com/22902-florence-knight-and-humans-32-models-6-markers.html
Dark Elves: Sukubus in general I like Greebo, Sukubus and Willy the most I think but Willy loses points for being mostly metal https://www.sukubusstudio.com/witches-team
Chaos Dwarfs: Hungry Troll cause I love the weedy hobgoblins but the Willy Chaos Dwarf team is very nice too Hungry Troll thinks you can use the blockers as regular dwarfs though and so have just made blitzers and troll slayers - that's just madness get some proper dwarf blockers. https://www.hungry-troll.com/product-page/kharm-bastards-resin
Wood Elves: Disappointing in general cause of the problem of telling players apart Maki has super cool miniatures for all the elf teams but I cannot tell who is suppsed to be who for the life of me http://www.maki-games.com/product/mk1881-cabiri-16-player-team/ So that leaves Greebo's apocalyptic woodies which I like and which they bundle with more minis to be dark elves too https://www.greebo-games.com/30529-forest-death-song-obsidian-dusk.html and Iron Golem http://www.irongolems.com/store/wood-elf-team which are almost perfect except I really don't like the dancers
Norse: Lots of cool options but I like Meiko's classic look best https://www.comixininos.com/blood-b...players-with-snow-troll-meiko-miniatures.html
Slann: Star players : Like these alterna-slann more than some of the frog teams out there which end up too cartoony for my taste http://www.starplayershop.com/gb/slann-deep-ones/283-deep-ones-team-x-141-sp-miniatures.html
Undead: Gotta say I like the Greebo range here - all of them https://www.greebo-games.com/41-un-renaissance
Vampires: Sukubus again my favourites here https://www.sukubusstudio.com/product-page/vampires-team-pack
Khemri: Willy gets the nod http://willyminiatures.com/product/mythology-team/
Nurgle: So many good ones, but I like Willy's Lovecraftian BoN so much http://willyminiatures.com/product/lords-of-corruption-team-winged-beast/
Orcs: None - Orcs deserve better

Yeah the pigs are m'y favorite orcs too, I with the woodies a bit cheesy I still dont find the catchers distinctive enough.
