Has Space Hulk on 60% off today, I know some of you are interested.
Damn, i missed that one.
Anyone know if Shadowrun is worth it for $9?
Amnesia: a machine for pigs - anyone played it? A few years ago i loved Amnesia:the dark decent. So am wondering about this one...
Shadowrun - well worth $9. Would probably be worth $12 if it comes to that.
Listened to a specialist podcast that reviewed Machine for Pigs.
The mechanics are different, so if all you liked in Dark Descent was the light management then MfP is not for you. If you like scary horror, MfP got you covered good.(Without resorting to jump scares, the reviewer retold series of subtle incidents creating an increasingly creepy atmosphere)
Having played Machine for pigs even the scary atmosphere is no where near as good as it was in the dark descent. I don't quite understand why Frictional Games only published the game. Leaving it completely to the chinese room has made it just not feel right.
The puzzles were also a lot easier and the monsters were only scary at times. The fact there is no ability to hide in wardrobes etc also took out alot of the immersion.
If you want a good horror game I do highly recommend Outlast, which got released around the same time as MfP. It is currently 40% off and may still appear on a daily deal with an even bigger discount.
Actually i was reading some user reviews for Mfp and Outlast got mentioned quite a bit as being a better game. Will keep my eye on it.
Xcom and Half Life 2 are both 75% off. Definitely worth getting if you dont have either of these.
Just finished X-com wonder if enemy within is cheap too.
50% off right now.
Whether 15€ is cheap or not is another question.
X-COM Enemy Within is worth 15 Euros I'd say, but I don't think you should get it (or at least play it...) immediately after having completed the normal X-COM.
Aside from Exalt and the new Mek units & Gene modifications, it is exactly the same campaign. Give it a few months and then play Enemy within.
Outlast: Funny story about that one. I love horror games and when I bought Outlast, I saved it for a Friday night, turned off all the lights except for a few candles, put on the headset and started to play.
After about 30 minutes I decided I'd turn the lights back on and also I'd probably play something cheerful and wait for the next day.
A friend of mine bought the game. Had the exact same plan I had. I asked her to please skype me about 25 minutes after starting the game.
I think I wouldn't have had to ask her after all. She was in a desperate need to talk ...
While it does rely on many jump scares the gameplay itself is scary as hell and you remain completely helpless through the entire game. I enjoyed it very much.
Cheers Suriel, I'll take your advice
Totally agree. Probably the scariest shit I ve played on PC. I didn´t last beyond the first 30 minutes though, having to pass by the dude on the wheelchair was too much for my weak heart... Havent played it since... I still have it installed but it is just seating in my Steam library like a cursed demonic book I cant dare to open...
I think the only way for me to play it would be with all lights on, no headset, the X-Factor show full blast on the TV (so to remind me of shit that is even more scary) and a couple other players on ventrilo or skype rallying each other
Natural Selection 2 at 2.5 USD today
Offer is still on for the next 8 hours I believe.
Save 90% on Natural Selection 2 on Steam
Excellent mix of FPS and RTS. 2.5 USD is a steal.
Merged both winter sale threads since it is over now.
I did get a couple of games during the sale. Yay.
Eh, A bit of a point but I got Enemy within and thoroughly enjoy it on my Xbox.
The new items and tech paths add for a more interesting start-up, but you're quite correct the long-term stays much the same. Either way, definitely worth purchasing if you enjoyed EU.
