'There were not many survivors of the destruction of Mordheim by the twin tailed comet and now it's only the mad, foolish, greedy or creatures of the shadows that populate the ruined city' Spoiler: Prologue Cr3pusculum looked defiantly at what was left of the Temple of Morr situated in the South West corner of the ruins of Mordheim. Morr was the Imperial God of the Dead and was supposed to guard the souls of the dead from the likes of him. A low growling sound behind him woke him from the dreamy thoughts of his plans, from the shadows of ruins two large Werewolfs slowly emerged towards him. “Keiner and Johann, have you found anyting of intrest in the vicinity” he asked them with a questioning smile? The Werewolves looked at each other before shrugging their large hairy heads and lurked back into the shadows looking for something to eat or play with will keeping a watchful eye for anything that might hinder the Necromancers plan. He had found them in their human form in the outskirts of the Dead Wood a little bit North of Mordheim, they had been brutally attacked by some kind of wild creature, probably some kind of Werewolf driven mad by the Dead Wood. That forest, or cemetery of a forest to be honest gave even Cr3pusculum the chills. Their wounds had healed rapidly and not many nights past before they turned into the hulking creatures that now guarded him in wait for the glorious rewards he had promised them in form of Blood, Carnage and Deaths! Cr3pusculum had spent several decades slaving for his Necromantic masters as in bringing corpses and collecting ingredients from areas far and wide. He had taken every opportunity to get a glimpse at the old tome of Liber Mortis and the few volumes of the nine books of Naggath which his masters had collected through time. He was punished severally at every encounter in which his masters had spotted him. Over the time a great hatred had begun to arise against his oppressing masters and when the crossed paths with a squad of mercenary Brettonians he quickly fabricated a story of evill Necromancers in the hills south of Sylvania which had a bounty on their head. The Brettonians hungry for gold as always didn’t hesitate and rooted out the Necromantic masters in a surprise attack. They quickly rumaged around in the castle ruins which had been the Necromancers so called home looking for any additional valueables before decapitating the killed masters and headed for the nearest guard station to collect the fabricated reward. Cr3pusculum felt content when walking into the ruins and saw the bodies of his slain masters, he also knew that others would come looking for his masters. They had after all been part of a larger conclave of Necromancers dedicated to become the rulers on the world of man through the evil power of Dhar and the Brettonians would come looking for him when they’d discover there where no reward to collect. Cr3puculum quickly searched through the debris after the Brettonians pillaging and collected the tome of Liber Mortis and 2 of the books of Naggath along with some other useful items before leaving the ruins he for so long had called “home”. For the first time in a very long time he was free and in order to find out what to do next he took on an masquerade as a travelling healer. I was full aware of the irony in it! On one of his wanderings in the land of men he had come upon something called Blood Bowl and for some reason that had really appealed to him, it could certainly have something to do about the carnage and blood on those pitches and that’s when he had thought about the plan to create a team of the undead to unleash on those pitches. The so-called sport gave him an arena to practice, experiment and perfect his own studies in the dark arts without being disturbed by the holy zealots constantly hunting for Necromancers, he had seen some teams lead by other Necromancers so he knew he would be left alone in that regard. But to start it all he needed a secluded palce from which to begin building his team and experiment and the ruins of Mordheim which no sane person wandered in of his own free will felt like a perfect spot! He had even managed to lure a couple of Ghouls which had wandered of the haunted hills in search for corpses on the outskirts of the ruined city! Cr3pusculum slowly made his way towards the ruins of the Temple of Morr while dreaming of his plans to delve deeper into the dark arts and before presenting his creation to the bloodthirsty fans of Blood Bowl. He had even started to develop a sense of wicked humour as he planned to begin this journey in the ruins of temple of the guardian of the dead.
