Trouble connecting recently?

Has anyone else had trouble connecting to the forums recently? I have been getting quite a few Internal Server Errors. They usually go away on a reload.

 

yeah forums been a bit iffy for a week or so.

 

Yes lot of error 505, and sometimes just changing sub-forum loses me connection. At bad times it comes up after posting in a thread. Been like this for three weeks.

Nice to see it isn't just me. Coach hasn't been around since Oct 1 but I just sent an email to coach@ bbtactics .com. I think that is the email he has given us in the past.

 

Sorry guys, I think this may be that the site is experiencing more traffic and the hosting package isn't keeping up very well. I'll check with the hosts and see what they say.

 

I think you should open up some sort donation system, so people could help you out if costs are piling up. We all owe you a lot.

 

@Coach any update on this, is it the host package that is just not meeting the traffic anymore? If so, I repeat above. People can help upgrading and maintaining.

 

Small update: I'm looking to move hosting plans and consolidate my different sites into one place on a better server. However due to the work that's involved in this I'm not realistically going to be able to do it until Jan (at the earliest).

Last week was also the release of version 2 of the forum software that I would like to switch over to. I'm going to have to check that all the features and additional plugins that are currently being used are updated and available for the new software as well. The less critical ones I can just drop if they aren't needed. Anything else that may not yet be available I'll see how the forum users feel about how useful they are.

When I've had a chance to get more details I'll post again, however December is the busiest month for me work wise so hopefully everyone can make do with things as they are for a little while longer.

 

OK, I did some minor tweaking around new year. How has the connection and load times been this last month? The hosting is up for renewal next week, so if I need to move to a faster server I should be able to do it over the next couple of days. I just wanted to double check the situation with how everyone is finding things recently first.

 

It is better. Last Fall it was lot of disconnecting, and error windows - almost every fifth page. Now during January I might have gotten a couple of 500 error which I believe is the hosting service bottlenecking?

 

If it's been fine since the new year I'm tempted to stick with the current host. Changing is usually a hassle and there are some more tweaks I can do behind the scenes along with upgrading to the new forum software version things should run quicker.

Yeah same as TS, the occasional glitch but usually resolves itself in a few seconds.
