Just a couple of general notes about the Grey Dog Blood Bowl League.
1.) Scheduling: We use a two week schedule for match days, so the league is fairly slow moving. We really try to accommodate people, so sometimes even the two week schedule is stretched if people have good reasons.
2.) Signing up at the boards: We'd definitely prefer that people register at GDS and express their interest on the boards over there. As GDS has had issues with spambots, there is a particular process that has to be completed to be able to post on GDS. Please see Wallbanger's post
here.
3.) Rookies: As Dreamy mentioned, this is largely a rookie league. Wallbanger and I play in the bbtactics leagues here and Sudo has an account here (but I think mostly plays in one of the other NA leagues). Other than that, everyone else in the league (aside from Dreamy, now) only plays in the GDS league.
This doesn't mean that the players aren't good, it just means that some of them don't have a lot of experience. Now, a few the people in the league are lifelong TT BB players and are as good as the coaches I've played anywhere, while others are legitimately new to the game (and therefore, have legitimately played less than 10 or 20 games ever).
I'm not a league admin, so this is all me and my opinion at this point: But keep in mind that this is largely a friendly rookie oriented league.
What I'm trying to get at is - I always try to win my GDS games. And if my opponent makes an error and leaves a value piece on the sidelines or open for a good foul, I'll surf or stomp if it helps me win the game (or if it's against Wallbanger

... j/k). But if I can (and let's be honest, I'm not great at this game, so sometimes I can't), I try to help the other players. I give them feedback or advice (after the fact, of course, I don't try to help them beat me: for example, if someone places a player in a square that allows me to chain push my ball carrier into the open, I chain push my ball carrier into the open and then explain it). I also offer to play in non-league pickup games with people for practice.
But more importantly (and I hope maybe Wallbanger can chime in on this, as it might be just me doing this and I could be speaking out of turn), but I don't run my opponents into the ground. If the game is tight, their team is in open season and I'll throw everything I can at them. But if I'm up 2-0 or 3-1, the game has only a few turns left, I have the ball, and they've already taken several bad casualties... well, then I'll definitely try to score again, but I'm only going to make the blocks that help me do that and I'm not going to try destroy their team. I want everyone to keep playing BB in the league and if my team cripples their team in week 3, it won't be a lot of fun for them the rest of the season.
To be clear - we don't have any formal mercy rules or anything. I guess I want to emphasize that this is a friendly league.
