Ball Sacking Skink:
- Normal: Side Step, Jump Up, Diving Tackle
- Doubles: Wrestle
- Stat Increase: +ST +AG +MV +AV
It can be useful to have a player like this, though ideally you do it to player who either get +ST or a double roll on their first skill up, otherwise build one of the first two options. Hopefully though you can get a Wrestle is the best skill for taking down ball carriers (as they usually have Block and Sure Hands). Ideally you want to be hitting with your Saurus but it won’t hurt to have one with this ability on your team. Obviously most the time you are probably going to be hitting with two dice against so don’t count on this, though you do only turnover just over 30% of the time. After Wrestle look at skills that keep them next to the ball carrier to be an annoyance, so Side Step and then Diving Tackle. This is more a variation on the defensive build, though differs in that you got the double first and take Wrestle instead of Block and use them to blitz with which you wouldn’t usually do with the standard build. +ST is great for obvious reasons and take the other stats as you feel fit.
Lizardman Skink Summary:
The biggest problem with Skinks development is that they can’t take general skills. The Saurus also skill up really slowly so the staple skills that most teams have are going to be in low supply for a developing Lizardman team. So after you have a few players with the builds above you may want to look at getting one with Kick and one with Guard. Kick and your high speed obviously combine well, get at a ball carrier deep in their own half and you can cause some real problems. A Guard player is helpful to get next to the ball carrier if you are going to go and blitz them with your Wrestle Skink. The trouble is their propensity to get injured and putting them into a cage will probably lower their life expectation. There are probably a few different variations you could go with and skills to take (Tackle will go well with Diving Tackle for example). The development builds listed here though are the staple ones for a successful Lizardman team and make the best use of the skills that they can take.
